  • They worked us in a day early due to the fact that we were relighting the old furnace every 2-3 hours. Very professional. Arrived on time. Very conscience of our 2 "helper" dogs when going in and out of the house. Explained everything to full understanding. Job done in 8 hours, and you would never know they had been here. Spotless cleanup. They were incredible!

  • During the testing of the safety gauges, one blew at a normal operating temperature.  The workman quickly diagnosed the cause as being due to having excess water in the systems expansion tank.  He noted that this situation will occur occasionally in these older rigid style of tanks. He also noted that replacing these with the newer tanks that have expandable bladders in them will eliminate the need to drain the current tank every now and then.  However, he made no "push" to sell me a new tank as he said the current tank was in good shape and as long as I was willing to have it drained once in a while (and at little or no cost), there was really no need for a new one. BTW, once the tank was drained, he retested the safety gauges and they all worked exactly as they should!

I was also impressed by his candor when I asked him about the potential cost and energy savings of buying a new energy efficient system. He frankly said that unless we were going to stay in our home for another 30 years (little chance of that as we are nearly 70), we most likely wouldn't be able to recover our costs. He indicated that our largest energy savings, given the nature of our home (a 2 story, brick "Italianate" built in 1878), would come from insulating and closing up the cracks and other air leaks in the house.  He did note that a new boiler system would probably increase the sales value of the house, but overall the system was still quite serviceable and didn't need to be replaced at this point in time, unless we wanted to do so.

Finally, I would like to say how impressed I was with the workman's knowledge, thoroughness, honesty, presentation and overall demeanor.  He was a REALLY nice guy and I would gladly welcome him back for any future heating or cooling jobs we might need!!!

  • After purchasing a new furnace, central air and a hot water tank from Garner, (which was installed as expected) we called the company back to repair the hot water tank a few months later.  They worked on it and advised they needed a part but they put a hose on the hot water heater to the sump pump hole as a temporary fix for drainage.  They advised they'd be back when the part came in.  I paid them in full which was, to the best of my recollection, around $150.  Several weeks later we still had not heard from them about the part and I called back and asked for a status update by phone.  I was told Brad would return my call.  He did not.  I called back a couple weeks later and was again told the same thing -- and again, he did not.  After SIX phone calls over several weeks I still have not heard back from them!  It is now March and I began calling late last year asking for a call back.  All I am asking for is a simple return phone call to advise when the replacement part will be installed.    I paid in full as expected and in return I expect 100% service from them as their part of the bargain.  I keep tripping over the hose in the basement running from the hot water heater to the sump pump and it is a complete safety hazard.  I guess my next step will be to report this problem to the manufacturer of the hot water tank that has entrusted Garner to carry their brand.  Note to Garner:  May I please get a return call?

  • We were real happy. They did an excellent job. The price was comparable to everybody else. They were prompt and they did what they said they were going to do for the price they said they would do it. They did exactly what they said they were going to do in the timeframe they said they could do it. They were very professional.

  • My central air conditioning wouldn't start in the spring.  They did an adequate job of diagnosing the problem and recommended a new condenser unit at a minimum and really wanted me to buy a complete new system inside and out.  Nothing wrong with that advice.  Price was higher than competition.  I ended up buying a used condenser on Craigslist and had them install it.  That worked OK, but still has a small freon leak that they refuse to repair (even when I offered to pay).  I called someone else next time I needed the system needed service.

  • From sales to installation to service, they have been prompt and professional. I called 5 companies for bids. 3 Showed up. Apples for apples, we got the best deal. Even better than Costco. Also what I like the best, NO surprises in cost or what we got. They supplied everything as expected and more.
Installers were nice too. Very happy with return phone calls with questions we had.

  • woke up this morning to a cold house. checked furnace and it was on but no heat. Found Brooklyn Heating and Plumbing on Angies list and seemed like they had all good reviews so I gave them a call. The guy who answered was very polite and said he could have someone out within the hour. I called at 9:30 and at 10:30 Don showed up. He was very nice and went right to work. he found it was the ignition and by 11:00 he said it was fixed. He also noticed another small issue that I had some debris in the inlet pipe from outside and it was affecting the heat of the flame so he cleaned it for me. From first phone call to finish was done in under 2 hours and cost me only 168.00. I will definitely use these guys again, they are great!

  • Andy Bobo met with us to discuss what type of furnace would be best for us. He fully explained the different options, their cost and the benefits of each so we could make an informed decision. When it came time for installation of our furnace, the crew arrived on time, kept us posted on their progress and cleaned up afterwards.

I highly recommend CMR Mechanical !

  • Bryant Corporation who recommended this contractor says they are no
longer in business. Referring phone number does not return calls or
answers the phone.  My one-year service warranty is down the drain.
