We are really happy with the results! Color matching of multi colored brick pattern was a challenge because the house was over 50 years old. It looks great, we cannot tell the difference! We even had weather change some plans, but we never wondered what the new plan was, Greg was in constant communication with us, which was awesome.

Angie's List picked this company to do some paver work at my house. Someone for this company called at 9:30 A.M. and I explained that 3 feet by 6 feet sidewalk and some stairs need to be fixed and made an appointment. I agreed to meet next Monday. Then the owner called me at 12 P.M. the same day and without seeing the work and said he will do the work for $7000. Obviously, I said no since I already had some estimates. I wish Angie's list will not waste my time by including businesses who are not interested in serving customers. I suggest that the site should call these businesses and confirm that the company is real and arrange an appointment through its site and if the business fails to show up for the appointment and fails to give a reasonable estimate, the business should be removed from the site. I have already given up on Home Advisor now I will give up on Angie's. Both sites are a joke. I will stick with BBB from now where I would have found that this company has two complaints already in two years.

    Pro-Custom LandScaping, LLC
We hired Pro-custom Landscaping to remove our existing retaining wall, 5 hedges, and then build us a new retaining wall. They were easy to work with during the design process, we changed our design twice, they were patient and answered all our (numerous) questions. We noticed how punctual and respectful of our property they were, as this is something that is important to us. Most of all the finished product looks fantastic, it looks like an entirely new house. We will not only use them for all our landscaping needs in the future, but we will refer them to our friends and family too.

When they said they were gonna be here they were here. I told my husband that it's been a long time since I've seen people really work like that. They were great about communicating with us and making sure we were on the same page and liked what was being done. I liked having their feedback. Right from the start they were friendly and weren't pushy about things, you could tell that they were here to make sure we were happy with what they were doing.

Noah came out to see what repairs needed to be done and informed us that everything would be covered under the Angie List Pricing and scheduled a date/time for the repairs. Don came out as scheduled and performed all the listed repairs and then went ahead and performed other repairs that he deemed were necessary at no extra charge. Excellent job!

BrickHeads Masonry & Concrete Specialists LLC.
After 2 weeks went up on roof to look at chimney top. Chimney cement already has cracks in it. It was sealed also, and here it is already cracked. They said using some sort of special cement, when it was a bag of Quickret. Cement guy is sloppy. Cut limestone on my front lawn, leaving a mess with chunks of cement. Edges not cleaned up around chimney top. Cement left to harden hanging off. Missed areas needing cement between bricks. Clean up was special. Found bucket left sitting on my roof for 2 weeks. Old guy swept concrete chunks into my gutters. Concrete chunks left on ground. Also replaced a few bricks on furnace chimney. Used ones they took from my yard, when I was charge for replacements. Way over priced for the job that was done. They were suppose to also replace my basement windows, however style was not in stock. So glad I didn't sign for that job. I don't plan on letting them do it. Very disappointed.

    BB's Bricks
Understandably had a hard time getting a hold of him to get a quote but after we got that worked out they were great to deal with. They did a great job and went above and beyond what I had expected of them. I am very happy with them and will be using them again to do the rest of my basement windows.

    BB's Bricks
I did not have this company do the work, although Brian and his coworker were extremely professional. I had multiple concerns that kept me from hiring BB's Bricks, even though so many Angie's List members rated them very high. Here are things that kept me from using them: 1) When I asked for a certificate of insurance (workers' comp, general liability), I received the top page of the insurance, which is not the same as a COI. I issue COIs in my job (I'm a safety specialist and my company does workers' comp). The top page shows only limited info on the policy. I ended up calling the state to see if there was valid workers' comp for the company. Brian himself does not need it, because he is a sole proprietor, but his crew does. Only two people were covered on the policy. 2) The general liability insurance I asked for came as a PDF from the insurance agent after my note to Brian that I still didn't have enough info. The insurance agent sent me a PDF file that would not open. I am an expert w/computers and have PDF Pro (formerly Acrobat Distiller), so I wondered if the agent knew what she was doing when she sent it. 3) The quote was the biggest concern. It seemed a little too inexpensive and Brian emphasized the word "cash" several times. While I'm happy to pay a contractor cash, it was the emphasis on it that made the next item look really odd. He also was sure my chimney wasn't moving or sinking and, while he did a lot of measuring with a level, I later confirmed with a structural engineer that the chimney was moving. He seemed to know less about the foundation than Brickworks. I don't fault Brian for that and I appreciate he gave me a very low-priced job. I would have preferred if he said, "This is a big problem but there's a cheap way to address it if you plan to stay here only a few years, and just be sure you disclose the problem to the next owner." 4) The quote was written on a blank, carbonless form like you could buy at any office supply store. Brian wrote "BB's Bricks" in the address section. There was no address, no license number, and no identifying info for the company anywhere on the form, other than this hand-written info. There were no legal terms or disclaimers or anything to protect me or him. Here's the part that really scared me: he wrote his first name and the first name of his coworker on the top, along with cell phone numbers. Guaranteed work ought to come with last names! 5) Brian seemed very reliable and returned phone calls/responded to messages. On the day he came to give me a quote, meeting me when he promised he would, he phoned beforehand and said, "I'm finishing up a job in Troy. I'll be there within an hour." He and his coworker arrived and they were the two cleanest brick guys I'd ever met. If he truly had been finishing a job, I would have expected to see a little brick dust on him. It sort of took away from the credibility, although I appreciated he'd probably cleaned up to come over and do the quote. I hired Brickworks instead due to past experience as well as completely correct paperwork and quote. Brian Borsa seemed very reliable and I know everyone else at Angie's List loved him, so I'm not criticizing his work. I'm suggesting that, from a legal perspective, a homeowner could run a risk hiring this company if all insurance paperwork is not correct. Get a COI (certificate of insurance) that clearly shows liability AND workers' comp so that, if someone were injured, you would not get sued. The B and C grades below are not because of bad work, because I had no work done. They are because of missing paperwork and inability to produce standard business documents. As a young businessperson, Brian may be able to improve this with time.

    Brickworks Property Restoration LLC
This went very well. It's my second experience with Jeremiah and the Brickworks crew. I chose them over another vendor because of proof of insurance and other details that are important to ensure my safety as a consumer and homeowner. When Jeremiah came out, he correctly spotted that my chimney had begun to separate from my family room. He quoted $8200 for entire chimney rebuild and recommended I first have the chimney and foundation leveled. After looking at foundation leveling, which costs between $12,000-25,000, my husband and I decided to do nothing with the foundation. I explained to Jeremiah that we plan to sell the house in 3-5 years and our goal is simply to make sure we have no cracked brick. We will explain to any purchasers what they are buying. Jeremiah's crew did exactly what we wanted, repairing about 75 bricks (some of which had to be re-set in the house). The bricks themselves are no longer made, since the house was built in 1971.

The owner was very responsive. He came out immediately after my call requesting a quote. He was clear on options. He followed up on brick color and how it matches current, as well as brought sample to show and confirm ok. He also called ahead to confirm work is as scheduled. He cleaned up old brick and performed all work as agreed on all areas. This company was incredibly professional and polite with all aspects from sales, planning, and work conducted. I would highly recommend!
