  • Not only did they unplug the toilet, but also the bathtub. They also gave helpful advice about upgrading the toilet and keeping the drains clean. They were very polite, very patient, professional, and helpful.

  • Nick quoted us $4000 which included installing the drainage line to the swale in the back yard to run off into the storm drain. That included filing all permits. He filed no permits. He did run the drainage line, but told us he tied it into a city water pipe instead of the swale. We had a large sink hole in the back yard that formed almost immediately after the first rainfall. He told us he would fix it in the spring. He was reminded of the necessary repairs in March and told it must be completed by end of April so our other projects could start on time. He has since missed several appointments and keeps making excuses for not showing up. I also found out he did not actually install the line into the city main. It just ends in our yard so the water has nowhere to go but up. So he has lied to me about the work performed as well as coming out to look at it. He said he inspected it the other day, but I have proof nobody ever stopped by. I would not recommend for sump pump installs due to lack of knowledge and I would not recommend for any project due to dishonesty.

  • I called in to request the service and a quote. The young lady told me that it would it would cost at least 250. "That in my best interest, they don't quote ahead of time what the cost will be". I just wanted a breakdown of hourly rates and she said that wouldn't be possible. I said thank you and will call someone else. Sounds a little shady to me. I rated a 'C' since I didn't have any work done

  • Provider came  to evaluate in a timely fashion, listened to me, asked VERY pertinent questions, provided options, possible costs  etc... When they came to do the work they were efficient , got down to it, ( no puttering around)    explained process to me thoroughly.
this had been there when the prior plumber co  did their work...  the they had to dig up  a fourteen foot in length  ( approximately)  sewer line from the  house to the city line, and insert a tie in to the sewer from the drain tile that travels around the house....
they were quite prepared, had a trash pump to empty the hole of water  ( which took  over an hour)  Groundwater level were very high this year...my house was floating  (it is a concrete slab)  their quick and timely response minimized the damage ....
cracked walls  , moisture in home  damp floors , floor tile lifting...  humidity levels  HIGH   and so on.

  • Hired when sewer line faIled   the day of my Moms funeral.
did come out/ respond very quickly.
Promised  to rectify all problems within the week.  STated orally, no I did not get it in detailed writing, my error, a work to be done, including tearing up concrete slab floor  and replacing 60 year old cast iron drains, replacing  sewer line from rear of house to city line at front .
cancelled appointments several times, hindsight  reveal this was to deter me form being there. I had toadjust work schedule or take vacation time , several times.
pulled permit under Dearborn Plumbing  and only for outside sewer line... which meant city  had no comment regarding inside work not done on inside drain ..
initially provided   short bill of sale( with name of company Martines sewer ) ,  which was switched out  about a week and a half latter... ( under my nose at the dining room table  ) with a quick statement to me about having to hire another company to line the inside drains.   ( which was NEVER done) (documented by two separate plumbing companys hired after to camera sewer and drains)
DID NOT TIE IN DRAIN AROUND HOUSE TO SEWER when working.. this drain was there when he started... this caused  much water and dampness issues in the house and yard ,  thank goodness for all the rain this spring.. it helped me  KNOW he did NOT tie   in is already existing drain.. already ( previously tied in to the sewer line ( with prior permit from several years ago )
the house floors became damp to the touch  , moisture levels so high there was condensation  ... ugh.
Nick stated to me upon my questioning  , with inspector of city present , that he did tie in the drain line.. He Absolutely LIED. He said he did it .. indicating he was there when the work was done.
At one point threatened me  , body language , terminology and voice,  with if I didn't pay the balance that night he would put a builders lien on the property.  A friend of the family was present that day.... No  I will not pay him any more money.. he did not do work described /required.
FIRST WORK FAILED INSPECTION , HE HAD TO RETURN AND TEAR UP A PORTION OF SEWER ( YARD) TO MAKE DECLINE PROPER ...
left a mess,  when removing patio blocks  broke many,  left   workers gloves in soil. left   construction trash ( he did come and remove some of the construction trash  after I complained) . left 1/4 to 1/2 inch of clay/ soil /mud  on driveway.
Very smooth talking.. salesman ..  appears very kind...

  • Big John took the job when the company I previously contacted wouldn't. I talked to John about 2 hours after purchasing the deal on Angies list. He asked about the existing water heater (capacity, age, etc.), and whether we had any hot water at all (we didn't). Since it was already late in the day, he scheduled us for the afternoon on the next day (it might be late, but it was going to be done.)
Well, imagine our surprise when Dave (the plumber who did the install) called to let us know he would be available to install it at noon. The timing wasn't an issue, so we met Dave at just before noon. Before 1 we had a new Rheem water heater.  Dave was very tidy with his work, and had everything he'd need for the job. He was very careful inside our home (we've had some contractors who didn't seem to care about hardwood floors in the kitchen!) Additionally, he was happy to answer questions about alternatives (even though it wasn't going to change the job he was doing) and was happy to expound on both the pros and cons of switching to a tankless water heater.
At the end of the job, Dave cleaned up the work area, and showed me how to relight the pilot light in case it ever went out. Once he left, the only way to know he had been there was the fact that we had hot water!

  • Well, I purchased the deal through Angie's list, and in a matter of hours was contacted by the company, so kudos on the prompt response. And frankly, they've been very professional in following up on my concerns.

However, it wasn't until after I was contacted (and after my card was charged) that I found out that they no longer service my area - less than 25 miles away.

I'm not sure who gets the lion's share of the blame. I certainly couldn't find anywhere on the internet what cities they were willing to service and which they weren't. Is that my problem? The company? Maybe it's something Angie's list needs to work on.

  • From start to finish it was outstanding. Lance and Hank did an excellent job and even took care of a couple small things noticed along the way like adding a second outlet so my washer/dryer cords wouldn't be too far away and added a couple of clamps to a water line he noticed was moving too much. It's the little things like this that make a customer happy. Will use Family Electric again for future jobs.

  • The plumber came out on a Saturday and replaced our 17 year old sump pump with a new pump I had bought a number of years ago (wanted the same pump model for simplicity).  He found that the downstream check valve was worn out and replaced that with one he had with him.  The whole job took less than an hour.  The plumber was very pleasant and helpful.  We have scheduled them to come back and replace our Hot Water Tank.

  • I was one of the many downriver residents with basement flooding.  It was 2-3 months before Darrin was able to start my basement and 3 months to complete.  Together we got through a broken bone, holidays, delayed and out of stock products, a funeral, and a wedding.  The job was to replace dry wall, cabinets, kitchen counter top, doors and some flooring, move and rebuild the shower, sump pump and back water valves.  Darrin, Kyle and Jason were the guys who worked in my home.  A few details had to be addressed (painting primarily) and was taken care of promptly. Overall I think it was a pretty big job.  My biggest issue was the construction process itself and how flexible the hours and days can be for whatever reason.  I must say Darrin, Kyle and Jason are the nicest guys you'd ever want to work with and I will gladly look them up again when I have another project to be done.  (and you can stop by with the well behaved kid anytime)
