Eye Care reviews in Southfield

    Michigan Eye Care Institute
Saw two doctors - the Opthamalogist (Cukrowski)- who was condescending and spoke to me like I was an eight year old as well as the retinal specialist (Amirikia) who left me waiting (on multiple occassions) for 2 hours (not including the time I spent waiting for my eyes to dialate - which then took the wait time to nearly 3 hours). Had me come back for multiple visits with  the Opthamologist which seemed very unecessary and just a way to get more money.
Based on my dissatisfaction, I decided to switch providers. I Have now been trying for months to get records transferred (even paying money to have them do it) and still the records have not been transferred to my new provider. Horrible experience. Would not use or refer them to anyone in the future.

They lost a pair of glasses that I wanted to upgrade but keep the old frame, and I was not happy with the result at all. I really liked my old frame and they only had to change the lens, which is what they said they would do but one thing led to another. It was taking so long, that I kept asking them about my glasses and in searching for them, they finally they determined that they had lost the frames while shipping it to wherever they had to go for the repair. In trying to resolve to my satisfaction, they wanted to repay me for those frames that I had paid for two or three years prior to that, they wanted to give me a half price and I said no because that is not what I wanted. I finally got a settlement that I was willing to take which was not what I originally wanted but I was too frustrated to put up with it any longer and I took what I thought was the best I could get without having to go to court. So I stopped using them. My wife still uses them and she is perfectly happy with them. They are affiliated with Ford Hospital. They have many locations and the doctors shift around. It was convenient. They seem to be professional. My impression with not only that place but also every optometrist that I have gone into is that they seem to be more interested in sales than they are in eye care. Given the fact that I am older than my mind thinks I am, everybody there seemed young, the optometrist lady seemed very young, and she wasn't unprofessional or anything. She did seem to be knowledgeable and professional. My overall experience was disappointing mainly to do with the administrative part of it. The prices are outrageous like everybody else is. Most of the people that I had bad experiences with were not the optometrists or the doctors.

Dr. Siegel saved one my eyes. I had glaucoma and he saved it. He performs the surgery there. I have a great experience. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. They get you right in. He is the best is Michigan! He has multiple degrees from across the world. He is the most pleasant man I have met.

We see Dr. Trapp. My daughter has had problems with her eyes and other specialists seemed to be ready to give up on her, but Dr. Trapp was able to help her. He is so happy in his job and he just exudes positivity. He truly loves what he is doing.

I have been going to him for years. I know he is very good. My husband and sister-in-law have also been to him. His office environment is very good and pleasant. You do have to wait sometimes to see him. He is very good at communicating.

I have had problems with my eyes and Dr. Apple has managed them very well. I think he is professional, but is quite busy and have found him easy to talk with. In terms of office environment, it not very spacious and there is always a wait. The staff are also quite friendly.

She was very thorough in her examination.  The prescription she prescribed for the glass works very well.  She has been treating me for a little bit of eye disorder for a few years, and it is stabilized.  She knows about her wait time.  She takes a long time to get to you, because she generally is attending to us, and everybody gets their time.  She doesn’t see them till 9 in the night but everybody gets their full time. But at the same time if she loses 20-30 minutes here and there, by the time you get in, you would have been waiting for long.  She takes her time; she is very thorough with everyone and if she runs in one or two quirks she follows that all the way through.  In terms of medical capability I will rate her highly.

    Wadowski, Dr. David A.
He also has offices in Southfield. He was recommended by my primary care physician.  My wife and mother in law have also seen him.  A good friend of mine also sees him.  We all like him a lot, he's very competent kind of guy.  He has glasses available, too.  I think I was most impressed with his professionalism and level of confidence.  You get the sense his aim is to do what's best for your eyes. He made me feel comfortable and not rushed.  He's not the most personable person until you get to know him a bit.  He communicates very well.  His treatment is very effective.  He did cataract surgery for my wife and friend.  It's outpatient and done within 20 minutes, it's not the surgery it was 25 years ago.  It's non invasive and quick.

We go to their office in Livonia but their main office is in Telegraph. We like Dr. Trapp and he is the one that we specifically see. He is an optometrist but he does keep up with the research. He knows a lot about what is happening currently with different changes in the contact lens and solutions. Our daughter has had a couple of eye issues and has seen the other optometrists who brushed her off. However, he has worked with her in resolving the problems rather than just telling her that she could not wear contact lens again. She has been able to stay with her contact lens. We think that he is very knowledgeable. Phone communications from the staff are not always the best.

They were busy so it took a little bit longer to get seen, but it was so worth the wait. My optometrist was SO kind and knowledgeable. I have very bad vision; she took the time to answer my many questions about my eyes and products available, as well as gave me educated advice and suggestions. Much appreciated. I'm very happy with the contact lenses she recommended, as well as the glasses I purchased (2 pairs for $59.99!!!!). Great price, great products - much happier than I've been going elsewhere.
