I saw Dr. Bernthal, the optometrist, in July 2013 for a routine eye exam, mostly to get a renewed prescription for my contacts. I thought that the technology he used was pretty awesome -- I was able to see video footage of the interior of my eye, which, with the colors added, looked like a supernova from the Hubble telescope. Pretty amazing. Instead of and quot;everything looks good to me,and quot; I was able to see for myself that things were normal -- not that I really know the difference, but Dr. Bernthal was really nice, took his time to explain what everything was and ask me about my family history, etc.
Unlike some other offices, I wasn't pushed into buying both glasses and contacts, which was really nice. Sales pitches, in my opinion, have no place in a medical office. In fact, I didn't buy anything because I usually find better prices online. The only thing I'd change was availability. As my visit was routine and not for anything urgent, it didn't really matter, but it would have been nice to get in a little earlier. I had to wait about a month. No big deal though.

I was interested in laser surgery and was examined and tested to see if I was a good candidate for the procedure I was seeking.
I was not, but received some very good information for future options that may work for me. I would highly recommend them and would consider going back to them again,

    Pelavin, Dr. Joel L.
I have been going to this doctor for 5 or 6 years.  He is very good at what he does.  I like the fact that he is an M.D. and not just an optometrist.  My whole family goes there and we think pretty highly of him.  The office environment is very nice.  They are very helpful and considerate.

Dr. Pelavin is excellent.  He has taken care of me during some very hard times.  I am a patient with low vision.  It is not like just all normal.  We are seriously working together.  I will use him again in the future.

Everything is prefect about him. He is very good about explaining what’s going on. My husband is having some problems related to his eyes but it’s because of his heart. He recommended a specialist and explained why he was doing that and that worked out very well.

I was please to get an appointment that worked with my schedule. The desk staff was professional and completed the initial intake efficiently. The optician who performed the exam took her time, did a good job, but was very talkative - a bit too much for me after work - but perhaps she was just keeping me busy....but she did a thorough exam.  Ultimately, I would rather deal with an overly friendly staff than an unapproachable staff.  She completed the exam by dilating my eyes and sending me out to select frames.  I was not very happy with the frame selection; I felt these were a bit outdated for my tastes. The doctor saw me within a few minutes and completed the exam process initiated by the eye dilatation.  He was very professional, not rushed, answered my questions, and provided me with a script. It was a good experience overall.  I did not have any complications resulting from the change in my Rx.  I purchased my frames from another resource.

    Krasnick, Dr. Neal M.
Eyes are examined by various technicians, who report to Dr. Krasnick. He does the final examinations and recommends further treatment. He always confirms his diagnosis and explains details if needed.

His staff puts everyone at ease and is very informative.

He's very competent and very nice to get along with. His staff is very helpful. When we have a problem he will always take our call and give us some idea of what to do. We've been going to him for 15 years. His people that do special testing and photographs of the eye are well trained and competent.

I would give them A's on every category. They are very good about follow ups and adjusting and explaining everything. They are also very good about keeping very good records and track of our previous visits. They take the whole time when you're in there and are not running out of the door to do hundred other things. However, they don't always keep their billing straight so I will give them B on that.

They do an excellent job. They are very efficient and they have a place to buy glasses in the same building. He is an eye surgeon and he does a lot of laser surgery and eye correcting surgery, so he does a lot of work with senior citizens as well. The equipment is high-tech and he is very knowledgeable and up-to-date. The physical environment is beautiful but I'm not crazy about how the office is run.
