Siding reviews in Rochester Hills

  • A-1 Vinyl Siding Co. was an absolute pleasure to work with. From the first visit contact with Jeff Manoski through completion of the job, communication was first-rate. We had contacts from Jeff and from the owner Paul Rogers to keep us informed on schedules. On the first day, the crew leader reached out to make certain we knew how to contact him with any concerns. First rate! We interviewed three companies and A-1 Vinyl Siding was in the middle on price even though they quoted the same materials as the highest price competitor. On the walk-around, we discussed installation techniques and addressed all the uncertainties. In the end, the added value in their quote and the demonstrated competence won them the job. They arrived a day early with a large trailer and started setting up the scaffolds to work from. The care to avoid damage to our landscaping was evident. The tear-off of old material was swift and cleanup everyday was complete. When new material started going up, it was clear these guys really knew the job. The quality of work was evident from the start and at every stage thereafter. The finished job makes our house look thirty years younger. Neighbors walk by the house every evening and comment how the look of the house has changed and how much they like the new colors and appearance. I wouldn’t even consider using anyone but A-1 Vinyl Siding. Highest quality materials at a fair price, great workmanship and superb communication – we are completely satisfied.

  • Windows were installed within 3 weeks. Crew did an excellent job. Now if I can only get them out to install siding and gutters. They already have cancelled three install dates. Started in early may, now end of June and still waiting.

  • Most recently I had the roof completely redone. Just as they had performed a few years earlier, the roofing job overall was completed to satisfaction. Every job has its hick-ups and there has to be collaboration to over come situations and keep the project going. McCarter construction works with you on 100% Transparency Policy, commits to the upmost professional service, listens carefully to customer feedback, provides common sense feedback, material for home owners to do additional research and does not pressure into decision making for a fast $BUCK$! Executes knowledgeable skill sets to get the job completed to manufactures requirements for product install and most importantly quality craftsmanship, quality customer service. Even though they may seem a little more expensive at first which company is not (?) than other construction companies / quotes provided, they will negotiate, but you have to remember if it is good customer service, quality craftsmanship, collaboration and full transparency for job being quoted I recommend John McCarter.

  • I couldn't have been happier with the quality and price. I hold myself to a very high quality standard, which this company has met. Derrick was the construction manager for the entire job. If I had a question my phone calls or texts were returned promptly. He was also on site when each phase of remodeling was started just in case I had questions. I will be using Shelby Home Improvement for any future remodeling.

  • I REALLY liked the salesperson that we bought it from. HE was excellent. When there was a glitch with our siding order, he came back out to check things out. HOWEVER, the guy who put up our siding was not real particular. He cut off our gutters when they were to be removed and re-hung. I AM pleased that the company replaced them without any hassle. The siding was over hanging the gables. It wasn't until we said something that he fixed it. That was the overall problem. Unless we caught a problem, it would have remained. While it might be our house itself, the siding installment is not what I'd consider "A". I don't think that I should be the one pointing out mistakes and getting them fixed. I think that they should have just been fixed. I'm glad that the guy was nice. But the end result was not installed like we had pictured.

  • The insurance company is involved, so I am waiting for them. I have to send a piece of the siding to a lab to be analyzed because we can't match the color. The estimate was very good. It was fast. The turnaround was one day. So far, so good. I chose them because my insurance company said they won't provide a vendor. I had to seek my own.

  • Very well. I really appreciated the service Kearns provided. They were prompt, careful and cleaned up. They delivered on what they said they would. It is so infrequent these days that a company delivers on what they said they would do. "Say what you do, and do what you say." Kearns did! Thanks. (Also, a thanks to the sales rep, Paul who came out and provided the quote and details. He was good to deal with.)

  • Essentially they set up shop in areas were storms hit and do a bunch of business, then as issues arise they are "too busy" or "no longer working in the area". We were charged for a complete tear off and new ice and water shield as well as flashing and shingle replacement. After calling numerous times due to dented flashing that was not replaced I called 2 other companies out to get a price to fix it. Low and behold there were TONS of issues on our new roof. The ice and water shield was not replaced which voided the warranty. The used improper venting materials, had exposed nail heads throughout the roof, and tons of overcuts. I spent months contacting their corporate office and finally got a team of executives from Owens Corning to come out - thankfully they took responsibility and had 4 ft of my roof removed all the way around and replaced to fix the issues. I had the siding come off our chimney and called ADHI out to fix and they said they didn't do our chimney. Thankfully I have pictures of it in progress as well as their crew on my roof tearing off the old covering. They damaged our personal property - firepit table, scratched our patio up, damaged and killed countless bushes and flowers and damaged our newly installed gutters when they did a repair order. They did deduct some $ from those items from the bill but nearly enough. They did send out a crew to replaced the dented gutters, but they don't match, were installed improperly and now are leaking. I called to have service come out only to be told that it isn't their issue. Honestly, I am tired of dealing with them. Which is exactly what I think they count on. This company is very shady -- they subcontract a lot of stuff out and I heard from several of their contractors they haven't been paid. I also had a crew on the first day fist fight in my driveway. I should have fired them then. The materials were ordered and sat in my driveway for almost a month before they did our roof -- another red flag I shouldn't have ignored. DO NOT DO BUSINESS...trust me, you will regret it.

  • Not sure why there is a special for Hardie Board Siding on the site but when asked was told it is not available? Asked questions regarding some numbers on the quote and was told they shouldn't have been documented. In general just a very difficult exchange regarding an explanation of the pricing presented. Will have to look elsewhere for a contractor.

  • We are very satisfied with the completed project: the siding looks beautiful and very well installed, including trim around a two story cloverleaf window. The painted trim and gutters also look very well done. There were a few problems such as incorrectly painted window trim and two windows being blocked by siding so that they couldn't be opened. When we contacted the site supervisor these things were corrected. Our biggest disappointed was in how long the project took to start and be completed. This estimated 2-4 week project took closer to 7 weeks, with delayed starts, the siding crew working short hours and taking unexpected time off, a painting crew not being available when needed, and some rain (understandable). Overall, we felt there was a lack of site supervision by management. When I called with concerns the site supervisor listened but more than once commented that our house was out of his regular area and a very long drive. Ultimately the problems were taken care of satisfactorily but since we were the customer, paying a large sum for the project, we felt we merited more personal attention and site visits other than at the beginning and the end of the project.
