    Rob Seth Construction
Rob undertook a large-scale renovation for my wife and I. We had purchased a house that we intended to renovate and turn into a rental property. Rob did almost everything imaginable, from new bathrooms and a new kitchen to new windows, siding, doors, flooring, plumbing, framing, etc. He even removed a massive fireplace from the center of the house, leaving no trace of its existence behind. He seemed knowledgeable in so many different areas and was a great resource in helping me to find good deals along the way. Rob was friendly, professional, flexible, and took definite pride in his work. I really appreciate the job Rob did and I would hire him again!

    Pennings and Sons
It was a nightmare. Everything looked to be going well, until they left. They charged us for all kinds of things that they never did. When I refused to pay they settled with me and forced me to sign a disclosure agreement. Biggest mistake that I made, because I had no idea how many corners they cut along the way. Now I'm having to hire other contractors to come finish the work that Pennings and Sons was under contract to provide. We gave Pennings and Sons over 300,000 dollars, our life savings to turn our home into a dream home and all they did is turn it into a home of nightmares. Beware, find someone else. I've heard sever stories of them doing this to a lot of they're customers but they only get the review info to the few happy ones. Stay away.

    Capstone Home Improvement

I typically do most of the remodeling in my house.  However, we wanted to refinance our house and I was too busy with my job to get some projects finished that I had started.  Capstone was easy to work with from beginning to end.  They showed up on time each and every day of the project and were sensitive to my timing needs to make sure everything was completed in time for the inspection.  Any time I had a question about something, they took the time to answer my question and never seemed to be irritate while doing so.  I am even changed a couple of things on the fly during the project and they were still able to finish within the time table we had set up.  I am pretty nit-picky and can say that I went over everything with a "fine-toothed comb" and I was happy to find that they did a fantastic job.  I would have no problem at all in recommending this company to friends, family and or strangers reading this review.

    R J WATERPROOFING & CNTRCTNG
**PLEASE GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING BEFORE YOU ALLOW HIM TO START ANY WORK ON YOUR PROPERTY*** I was having a problem with water leaking into my basement. I found RJ Waterproofing here on Angie's list. He had an A rating, so I decided to give him a call. Roger came out to give me an estimate and thoroughly explained everything that he would need to do to fix the problem. He quoted me a price of $2000 and told me that he would draw up the details and bring it back when he began the work. He came back with his worker (Eric) a day or two later with a different idea of how they wanted to proceed with the job. I agreed and specifically asked him if this would cost me any more than the quoted price. He told me "No" and that the new way would all be covered under the previously quoted price, nothing extra, and that he will draw everything up before he began the work. They came back the following week to do the job. They did a wonderful job of covering up my items so that they would not get dusty, the work was completed in two days, and they put everything back the way it was. No issues with the workmanship. My main problem was that when it was time to pay, HE CHARGED ME AN ADDITIONAL $500 that we had not discussed. He never drew up the job like he said he would or gave me anything in writing before the job started. I should have been more adamant about receiving his quote in writing, but I never thought he would do that to me, when I asked him specifically if I would be incurring any additional charges. When it was time to pay and I made reference to making the check out for $2000, he said "$2,000, oh no no, $2500!" I said Roger you told me $2000 and he got upset said, "I'm not going to argue with you, this is a $3500 job, but I'm giving you a discount, because you are a nice lady." At this point, I couldn't believe he lied, and just wanted him out of my house. I wrote him the check for $2500 as he sits at my kitchen table, finally drawing up the job along with the receipt. This was after the work had already been completed. I called my husband to let him know he charged me more. Roger overheard our conversation and became really hostile, thinking my husband was upset. He should not have been eavesdropping on my conversation. My husband had the right to ask questions if he is required to pay and additional $500. Not to mention that he was talking to me, not Roger. He threw the check back across the table and was saying things like, "I bent over backwards for you", "I did this and did that", "Here, just take the check back", "This is unbelievable" and so on. He did not do anything more than what he said he was going to do in the first place, nothing more, nothing less. I mean he was really getting mad! Now I really just wanted him gone. I calmed him down enough to let him finish writing up the quote and receipt and sent him on his way. I wrote all this to say that if you go with this company PLEASE GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING FIRST. No matter how nice or honest people seem, some people will take advantage of your kindness. I did not have an extra $500 dollars to give him, but I had no choice, and he knew it, which is why he never wrote anything up. If he would have told me $2500 up front, I would have planned for that and budgeted accordingly, but we both know that he told me $2000. Now giving him that extra $500 has taken away from the money I needed to replace the carpet from the room that was damaged by the water, and also from me being able to pay for my central air to be repaired, all problems that he was aware that I was dealing with while he was here. I really hope that the work they did will fix my problem, but I really won't know until it rains again. He does offer a lifetime guarantee on his work, but I am hoping never to need it!. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any contractor completing work ont my home.

Roger and his crew could not have been more professional or courteous. They were timely, clean and complete! Every area of our basement that could have been affected by dust and debris was meticulously draped and sealed off to protect them. The worked long hours and made sure the job was done right he first time. Not only that but Roger and his crew treated my wife and children with utmost respect. We would/will be calling on Roger as we move into our new home to ensure we have a dry basement for years to come!

    Molnar Construction
Molnar Construction completed a very extensive project that
we envisioned in December 2013. Coming from musical families, we had hoped to
add a music room addition, off the back of our home and living room, in place
of our then existing deck. However, we live in an area where the water table is
relatively high, so we weren?t even sure such a project was possible. In
addition to that, we wanted the new room well insulated, and also add a new
deck with steps to a new concrete patio underneath. This meant building the
room on stilts. We also wanted to re-purpose our huge picture window into the new
room, not only to save cost but also to capture our beautiful view of woods and
    pond.
We figured the demolition alone for such a project could be
challenging, because our home is in close proximity to a nature preserve.
Because of that, care needed to be taken for ecological reasons, as well. After
interviewing several contractors?we realized not everyone shared our vision.
We met with Dan in March 2014 to discuss our goals and
consider options. Our first meeting confirmed all the positive feedback we read
about Molnar Construction on Angie?s list. From the get-go, Dan was personable,
knowledgeable, considerate, and willing to work with our ideas. Although we had
acquired three estimates, we felt Dan?s was the most detailed, and fair,
considering the proposed undertaking. (Note: our final cost exceeded the
original estimate, due primarily to the addition of a new roof, skylight,
downspouts, gutter covers, and some extra electrical and carpentry work.)
Dan and his crew were amazing!!! The care, positive
attitudes, and professionalism they all brought to work each day were high
caliber. Every evening, the job site was cleaned up to perfection! We were
especially impressed when one of Dan?s employees used a metal detector to
remove nails in the grass, after the roofing work was completed. With two dogs,
that was an important detail for us. The concrete work on the patio surpassed
our expectations ? LOVE all the curves! And re-grading/seeding the yard will be
    appreciated again next spring.
Our project took approximately 8 weeks to complete and was
the most enjoyable project we?ve ever undertaken. Molnar Construction has literally
made our dreams come true! Easy to work with, their hard work and
dedication-to-detail will impact our lives for many years to come.
We?d like to personally thank Dan- you undoubtedly have a
bright future, based on your personal integrity, up-beat attitude, and knowledge
of the industry, as well as your many construction talents. We appreciate that
you choose like-minded individuals to make up your team.
A big shout out of thanks to Eric ? we like to think of you as co-pilot to Dan. You are one
talented carpenter! Thank you for helping make our home so beautiful. Thank you
also to Brandon, of Gilroy Painting. You and Nate did an amazing job in the
music room, and completing the walls in the main house (the French doors are
beautiful, beyond words). And the use of the eco-friendly filter when sanding
was greatly appreciated. Thanks to Don who did the drywall, and also using
eco-friendly products. Thanks to Tom, and his crew, who put in the carpet. Job
well-done and appreciated each day as we enjoy the cushy feeling underfoot.
Once again, thanks, Dan, to you and your crew. We look
forward to working on future projects with you all again. BRAVO!

    Great Lakes Waterproofing Co
My contractor believes the ceiling wasn't secured enough to handle the weight of the insulation. Cracks formed in the ceiling sand the drywall started separating from the roof joists in several rooms. I can't blame the insulation contractor but it would of been nice if they could of warned me about this happening.

Blue Line Remodeling & Construction, LLC
Nathan and the crew were great to work with!!  All of the crew members were very considerate and responsible and always very responsive if we had any questions.
Because of bad weather, the workmen were unable to work on several days, adding to the length of the project.  However, all the work was completed in a high quality fashion.
Going into the project, there a couple of areas of concern where we knew that there were potential problems.  Amil and Nathan were fantastic to work with during these times!!  They developed some creative solutions and always made sure we understood what was happening and why.
We were very impressed  with Nathan's creative craftsmanship.  He was able to develop some special solutions for our particular problems and was able to discover the source of a leak problem with our service door that had defied many attempts at repair by others over the years.
The workmen cleaned up beautifully and completely every night.  Members of the crew went out of their way to confirm decisions with us.  We especially appreciated this because, in the process of talking with them several times, we had the opportunity to change our minds and made a choice that we will be much happier with in the future.
We were very pleased with the work performed by the company and it was an absolute pleasure to work with the employees!!

Blue Line Remodeling & Construction, LLC
I really can't say enough good things about Amil Alwan and
Blue Line Remodeling.  We feel so very fortunate to have found a company
that has become our ?go to? builders.  We
initially contacted Amil when we were collecting estimates to build a new roof.  While their estimate was not the
lowest, we felt immediately that Amil and his employees? work was worth the
extra cost.  His explanations for the
added cost made sense to us and in fact, led us to have concerns about the
quality of work that would have been performed by the other companies we
considered.  Blue Line?s work since then
has only strengthened the belief that ?you get what you pay for.?  We have since hired them to replace our
windows and to do our largest, longest and most expensive project to date: to
    remodel our basement.
When we bought our house in 2010 the basement was a cold and
dreary space with a cement floor and a thin wall of plywood dividing the
basement in half.  We envisioned a
basement that was warm and inviting, and, most importantly would attract our
teenage son (and his friends) to want to ?hang out at our house.?  We had a lot of ideas, but we needed Amil?s
expertise on how to design and light a space so that it feels less like a
basement and more like another room in the house.  Together with Amil we designed a basement
that includes one large area with a home theatre space (with a built in shelf
unit for components), a play area, a bar area, a closet for storage and a
separate smaller area with the utilities, the laundry, a pantry and more
storage.  Amil even worked hard to make
one of my silly dreams a reality: to turn the space under the stairs into a
hidden room behind a sliding bookcase.
The work that Amil and his workers (especially Alan) did was
remarkable.  The craftsmanship of the bar
and all of the built-ins went far beyond our expectations.  Besides Amil?s own company of professional
and meticulous workers, Amil also contracts with an excellent group of
    plumbers, electricians, carpet layers, etc.
All the work that was completed was top notch.  And where there were minor mistakes or
issues, these were quickly resolved without any added cost to us.
Needless to say, the basement is now our favorite room in the
house.  It is cozy and warm and is the
best place to hang out: for us as a family as well as for our boys and their friends? Thanks to Blue Line!

    Total Property Management
I needed to give our insurance adjuster the final invoice, so Tim kept track of two seperate invoices for me. One was for the insurance and the other one was for the other stuff (my honey-do list) that he did for us!! I don't have the grand total for that yet because he is still doing things for us. I think I add something to the list every day!! I know that he appreciates our business!! We could not have found a better "all around handy man" other than Tim and his crew of Andy and Rick! They ALWAYS cleaned up their mess and were always so incredibly polite! I feel safe having them in my home. I would leave the door open for them if I was going to be away from home and I even felt safe enough that I was able to just go to my room, shut the door and let them do their work. They answered EVERY single question we could come up with. My husband was very impressed with them also! I know one thing for sure, We WILL HAVE A LIFE LONG RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM!! Whenever we need something fixed, replaced, painted, installed or remodeled, we know who we will be calling....Total Property Management! Their pricing is fair and to me, it seems a little low to what I think I should be paying for al of the little things he has been doing for us! I hope you enjoy them as much as we have! Blessings!
