    STEVE'S CONCRETE
We had a small, simple concrete job, removing a front walkway and pouring a new, wider walkway, approx. 3' x 60'. We contacted a number of concrete contractors who either said they did not want such a small job or quoted us outrageous amounts to make up for the fact that it was a small job. Then we called Steve's Concrete. Steve replied promptly, set up an appt. for a quote, showed up on time and gave us a fair price. We went ahead with Steve's Concrete as our contractor and were glad we did. He did the work shortly after being awarded the job and did a great job. His workers were friendly and professional, cleaned up after themselves and it was a very positive experience. We would not hesitate to use Steve again and we recommend him highly.

Everything went just fine. I really like the results. The only problem was that they would not accept their Angie's List coupon because I gave it to them after they'd already given me a price for the job. They said it had to be presented at the time of the estimate. There was nothing on the coupon for 10% off that said that. Let's face it, the only reason that companies want coupons presented at the time of the estimate is so that they can mark the price up only to then give you your 10% off the higher price. You don't really save any money at all. What a rip off.

They came out to give me an estimate. They told me that it would be over $1000 to do the work, and that they could not honor the deal because they would lose money.

I asked them why in my estimate, upon including the Big Deal discount, my estimate was more expensive.  They said they upgraded to a rod-iron railing --which I did not ask for.

I decided not to go with this company.  I refunded my deal.  I was very frustrated.  They were trying to be open and helpful, but they were not really listening to what I was saying regarding the deal.  It was really frustrating having two different quotes given there for one repair to my steps.

I would like to give this company the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not sure that I would hire them in the future.

    TOP QUALITY CONSTRUCTION
He has been paid in full which was a mistake, so after he finished the patio and driveway and he got the money, we can?t get a hold of him. We call from a different number and fake him out to have him answer and he finally said he would come back out. He said he would need more money, but he agreed to come back out to finish it. But now we cannot get a hold of him again. He did the job 2 summers ago. We also have concrete form with weeds, but no concrete. That is evidence that the job was never finished and now my elderly parents do not have the sidewalk that they paid for that was supposed to wrap around the side of the house to the back of the yard.

Update 8/20/2011 - I received a return call from this contractor after submitting a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Angie's List.  The contractor agreed to come out and complete the work for an additional cost (we previously had paid him in full for this work).  Although I was not happy about the additional charges, he did complete the work, but only under the highest amount of pressure.  According to the contractor, he said that we told him not to return to complete the work due to landscaping, which was completely not true.

Quick to respond, competitive price, great brickwork, nice workers, mortar was not a great match, and cleanup less than expected. (Later found lots of debris buried in my flower beds!)
