    Guru's Services
Hired chimney gurus to replace my chimney chase cover that had blown off in the windstorm a few weeks back. They asked for measurements and then payment up front (I know its a red flag) which would include new chase cover and installation. Also would only correspond via text messaging. After a couple of cancelled appointments and a kept appointment where they informed me they would not be able to get on my roof, they finally got it installed. From the very first rain, I could hear water leaking on top of the fireplace. Contacted Chimney Gurus and was assured that it was sealed and they would have someone come out and look. I went out of town for a week and came home to my chimney chase laying in the back yard all mangled. First wind of any kind blew it off, I figure it lasted maybe a week or so. The screws they used were so short they were only attached to the siding and not to the plywood underneath. Now I have water leaking in my basement ceiling directly under the fireplace. I contacted them immediately and told them I would like my money back and I was told we don't do that. Not sure why since they would have to have a new chase cover made anyway. Normally would give someone the chance to make it right but based on the level of workmanship that blew off my house I didn't want them working on my house anymore. Bottom line---Run Away.

Very professional, responsive and punctual.  Took pictures of everything and prepared a detailed report.  We live in a 2.5 story house with 12/12 pitched roof so this was not an easy access project.  There was an issue with a shingle coming loose from the ridge vent area where the work was completed.  I did not notice this until several months later but they came out and replaced it free of charge within a week.  We were pleasantly surprised.  We would highly recommend them to anyone with chimney/roof issues.

Terrible. I took a day off work and they never showed up. I called to have them reschedule and it took two weeks for them to re-schedule. They were then late for the second appointment too. No calls, no support, just terrible.

The owner came out and installed the stainless steel chimney cap so that we would not have a problem with water running down the vinyl siding and staining it.  All went well!  He did the work quickly by himself.

I was on the roof, then down to the fireplace, then back on the roof, watching Steve & assistant work, Steve willingly explained the processes as they went along (I was hands on mainly out of couriosity of watching work done as a first time chimhey house owner.) The work was done diligently and to my satisfaction, thoroughly.

They got it done quickly. They actually did it 99.90% done in one day. They tear it down and put in a new roof. They did a great job cleaning up. They're friendly. They came out with a full crew. They started early in the morning and by evening, they were done. I'm very pleased with what they did and they showed up on time. They stuck to their estimate. I think they were a little more expensive than some but given what they did and how quickly they did it, I would say their price was an A. I could have went to somebody cheaper but I might have had to wait 'til the next snow fall or something like that. Their price is subjective. They had enough people and experienced people. Everybody had a job. They were putting down shingles on one side of the house while they were still roofing off on the other. They told us no tarps and that they won't leave us with a half done roof and they did not. They got the whole thing done in one day so I didn't have to worry about that. They returned all calls and everything. They were very professional and polite.

    High Hat Chimney Sweep
Ray was very professional and helpful.  He drove 40 miles to get to our house, but did not charge extra.  The quoted price was a flat-rate fee for chimney cleaning, but he actually provided much more.  He identified a missing weight on the fireplace flue and rather than sell us something expensive, helped us fix it inexpensively.  He identified some cracks in the fireplace masonry, but we discussed it and he felt like it was something I could easily fix myself, so gave me instructions on the proper materials to buy.  He also instructed us in the use of the fireplace and stove and gave us several very clever tips on reversing a downdraft in the chimney, to how to handle the ash pit.  He inspected the chimney caps, but advised us that it would be more logical to wait for replacement of the caps until our furnace was replaced, as a liner kit would have to be installed to bring us up to code and that included a cap, so putting a new one in now would be a waste of money.  The other two caps he advised us to wait until next year.  This wealth of logical, practical advice was much appreciated.  As a final courtesy, he even adjusted our screen door on the way out, as it was not closing properly.

We recently purchased a new house with two existing gas fireplaces.  I could not get either to work.  We called Doctor Flue to schedule and inspection and to recommend other possible options.  The service person that came did a very thorough inspection.  They got both fireplaces working and explained to me how each worked.  They did an inspection of each fireplace and also took pictures with a camera so I could see exactly what was going on in the chimney.  They spent some time giving me many options and recommendations.  No pushy sales and no pushy unnecessary work.  A great overall experience.  My wife and I are making a thoughtful decision on what we want to do to upgrade and when.  I would definitely recommend Doctor Flue based on my experience.

They were on my property for just over an hour. Most of that was cleaning the chimney for the agreed $165. The last 20 min were attaching a new cap instead of returning the existing cap. The new cap was put on backwards.

    Tozier's Chimney Sweeping
He is great. We have him for five or six years. Phil Tozier is the owner. He gives his repeat customers a 10% discount. It is a $127 but that is with a 10% discount, so I think it is a $140 for our chimney. We have a wood burner. I do not know if it does make a difference, whether with the actual fireplace or the wood burner I do not know, there are different charges. He is very honest. He does not try to sell you things or services that you do not need. I like his integrity. He is very prompt. When he says he is going to be here, he is here. He does a very thorough job. In addition, he makes sure that everything is covered inside so that there is no sip getting on to anything. He is very fastidious that way. In terms of price, I would say it is excellent. I would have him come out in the future again.
