APetoskey Fence Company IncThe project went very well. The installation is a long fence built on sloping ground and required multiple step-up/step-downs. Not the easiest place to build a fence and make it look good, but they did it to perfection. We are very happy.- David O.

AWamBam FenceIt's been close to three years with our fence and we've been happy with it since day one. Review starts with the project details and below are some observations about the product. I did most of the initial work with the company, but my husband is a DIYer and his intention was to install the fence himself. This is what made WamBam so appealing as he could do the project without worrying about holes and cement (he had installed a shade sail on a tall 5x5 beam in our yard and wasn't looking forward to repeating that process many times over). The first day of installation was a Saturday and he got his dad to come and help him. Once they got into a groove the fence erected fairly quickly and they made considerable progress. The system was easy to use and everything snapped together nicely. As his dad lives out of town, the next day it was up to him to install on his own. His progress was slower but it was still a job he could easily do on his own. When my youngest went for a nap, me and our five year old went out to help. I would hold the post while he pounded it in, then he would level it with the leveling donuts before fitting the post over top. Then we would slide the bottom rail in place and while my husband drilled our son and I would fit the slats into each other. I was surprised with first hand experience that, other than the strength needed to pound the post in, I would probably be able to install this fence by myself. We didn't quite get it done that day as we had quite a big project, but it was easy for my husband to work at it for a few hours in the evening after work that week, and soon the project was completed. Observations: Low maintenance: This goes without saying with a vinyl fence, but I love it even more than I thought I would. It looks as fresh and as new as the day we bought it. Occasionally along the panels where my garden is the dirt spatters up from a rain storm, but usually as I'm watering the plants I just give a once over on panels and it's good as new. Occasionally I have to spray on an angle into the bottom slat as dirt can collect but it doesn't take more than a couple of minutes to blast it out. And maybe I'm weird but I enjoy it. There's something therapeutic about blasting away and watching the water run clearer and clearer until it's all clean. I do notice that the fence gets a bit more scuffed up than I'd like, but I suppose it's because we are constantly kicking it open or pushing the lawnmower through it without properly propping it open. It requires a bit more elbow grease to remove, but it has come off cleanly. Winter: Last winter was particularly cold and dreadful. Although we installed past the frost line, I noticed a couple of our posts had lifted over the bitter cold months. My initial reaction was disappointment, until I realized that some of our neighbors had the same problem with their wooden fences. We could fix ours; they could not. We had to take a few panels down and re-pound the post. This represented a minor inconvenience, but I was happy that it was doable with the fencing system we had chosen. Wind storm: We were hit with a very bad wind storm last spring, which caused shingles to blow off, sheds to fly in neighbor's yards and whole fences to collapse. While we live in town, some of our neighbors experienced damage from the storm. Our fence held up beautifully. Admittedly no fences blew down in our direct neighborhood (only sheds and the like), but it was a good test nonetheless. Quality of the product: While I'm no expert on vinyl fences and their quality ratings, what stood out to me in regards to the quality of the product was how well everything fit together. The slats all fit perfectly with no finagling and most notably, the post caps fit perfectly snug. We have never gotten around to gluing them down. The instructions said to, and it was one of those projects that got pushed off and pushed off until it got forgotten about. This turned out to be a good decision for when we had to dismantle to fix the posts that raised over winter. And they are so snug I don't worry about them going anywhere. Even in the windstorm we had, they all stayed put. Versatility: The way the posts work allowed us to bring our fence line all the way down the side of the driveway and still fence off across the driveway. We just installed into three sides of the grooved post to create a "T" and it kept the fence neat and orderly and professional looking. Because we wanted full visibility while leaving the driveway, we staggered the fence down in a sort of stair pattern. It started at 6', the next two panels were 4' and the last two were 2'. It was simple to cut down and really looks like a professional job other than a rammy DIYer did it. The versatility also allowed us to easily install a different style of fence across our driveway while keeping the look seamless and neat. Another thing that pleas Forgiving: I mentioned my husband is a bit rammy at times. A sort of "do it now and ask questions later" sort of guy. There were a few times that he got ahead of himself and it was easy to fix the blunders with no long term consequences. Sturdy: Another rammy thing he did was to pound a post into the ground where it shouldn't have gone. That thing would not budge. It was in there so tight, he had to cut it down to remove it (no easy task as it was thick metal). Nice company: the company is a pleasure to deal with and seems to go the extra mile. When they realized they sent us a latch that they were no longer using because they were unhappy with it, they sent us a new one without us even requesting it. They could have easily kept their mouth shut and we would be none the wiser. Also nice to talk to a person when you call instead of a teleprompter. Overall, I would recommend this company to all. Even if you don't want to install yourself, it's a good project to get a general contractor to do for you. You may spend a bit more on the product, but you will likely save that and more on labor as the installation is much quicker.- Lynae M.

AKJP Sales IncMike came out and did the estimate late winter for 360', told us he would get back in about 3 weeks, it was 2 weeks. We were thrilled as we have 2 new puppies that need to be fenced in as we live on a major highway. He sent a worker out, yes only one guy, his name Mike also... he was extremely professional and very friendly, he did the job himself and it only took him a little over 6 hours to complete. He did and excellent job!- patricia h.

AEverything went well. We had chosen a color in advance and the painter Chris even suggested a better color that we actually liked better than what we chose. I was a stickler on clean lines and the painter and supervisor Connor made sure I had clean lines using precise masking. We were very pleased with the result!

Our non-electric dog fence is comprised of 12 individual components. It is a REAL physical fence that can be assembled by any homeowner or professional installer which we can provide. Our fence acts as a flexible net that inhibits dogs and other animals from climbing. The bottom material is flared in towards you and secured with uniquely shaped ground stakes to create a dig guard. You don’t have to dig any holes, mix cement, or make any changes to your landscape.

APet Playgrounds installed a 6 foot fence in our backyard to create a safe play area for our dogs. The work was done quickly, the price was reasonable, and the fence has held up well to all kinds of weather. It is by far the best fence we have ever had, and I feel better knowing that when the dogs go outside, they are safe and secure.

FBe careful before hiring Scott and his crew to do work for you and make sure you do not pay prior to the work being done. He was hired to finish my drywall and paint my house and promised that the work would be done in 10 days. His team never worked full days and after 3 weeks and taking more money than he earned (my error in trusting him), I had to hire a reputable dry wall finisher to complete my house and fix several areas that Scott and his team reportedly finished. He comes across as a nice guy so either he was overwhelmed by my project and the work involved, he is not as skilled as he stated, or he simply conned me out of money. After this, I also found that 2 of his references on his now defunct Facebook page were his fiancee and another relative. If you decide to take a chance on him, I would ensure that you do not give any deposits or project draws unless you are fully satisfied and the work is done!

FHe provided me with 6 ft gate when I needed a 4 ft gate. His solution was to cut off the top of the gate which was unacceptable. The gate was black when I needed a silver gate. He said he would spray paint it silver. I told him I would not accept that. He came back with the correct sized gate and in the correct color but this current gate has some rust spots on it. While digging the gate posts he punctured a sprinkler line under the ground. He did not inform me of this and instead put a piece of white tape on it and then reburied it. I had to call an irrigation company to come out and repair the line. The bottom line is, he should pay the $77.00 bill for the repair of the sprinkler because he broke it.

DHe suggested completely replacing the roof instead of trying to locate the leak and patching it. We agreed as the roof was probably over 15 years old. We had no way to know exactly as this house was newly purchased and the previous owner did not know either (she was a divorcee). Next rain after the roof replacement, within a span of weeks, we realized the leak was still there. Called him and he stated he isn't in the area and that he will stop by next time there is rain and he is in the area. Needless to say that never happened. He continued to delay and postpone until his labor warranty expired (in his case that's 1 year) at which point he denied any responsibility. At this point the only potential recourse left was the manufacturer warranty on the shingles themselves. I don't know how far that would have gotten us and we will never know since the contractor failed to give us any warranty paperwork for the shingles though we repeatedly asked him for it. Whether we needed it or not we indeed have a new roof but the leak, which was the original task, never got fixed. We are now looking for somebody else to fix it. My recommendation: if you are forced to use him (contractor work is hard to find at the moment) make sure you keep a tight leash and are all buttoned up before you sign that last check to him. He is not coming back for anything once that's done.
