    Fair Auto Repair

I took a vehicle to EJ Automotive in November 2013 after receiving a verbal quote for repairs of "about $150 to $200."  I called repeatedly over the almost four months that he had it, trying to find out why the repairs were taking so long.  I finally received a call that the vehicle was ready on February 20, 2014 - they had my vehicle for almost four months before they finally did the work.  Upon picking up the vehicle the repair cost was not "about $150 to $200," as quoted, it was $938.73.  The vehicle required replacement of all of the brake lines plus new rotors and brake pads on the rear.  The old brake lines were never removed and the new lines were run next to them.  Upon picking up the vehicle the brakes did work, but they were soft and made very unusual noises.  On April 12, 2014, the rear brakes completely locked up.  The vehicle was towed to the local Chevrolet dealership and they found that the rear brake calipers - which were replaced by EJ Automotive, were never properly bolted to the wheel hub.  The left rear caliper had come out completely and was wedged between the wheel hub and the wheel.  Upon checking the right rear, that caliper was not properly affixed, the bolts were "finger tight."  I learned that the mechanic/owner - Randy Dowker - was not properly licensed at the time he took and worked on my vehicle, nor was his Facility License active - it had expired.  I have also learned that he has operated under two other names, changed every few years, which suggests that he has had problems previously  and changes his business name to avoid problems.

The work done was done to "workman-like standards," as required by state law, he was not properly licensed, he kept the vehicle for an excessive amount of time, the work done was shabby at best and his failure to properly tighten and torque the rear calipers to the wheel hub, resulting in the left caliper coming loose, could have caused a very serious accident had it come loose when travelling down the road at highway speeds.  Fortunately, it came loose and locked up the wheel when I was in my own driveway.  He did not provide a written estimate of repairs - as required by state law - and the repair costs were about five times higher than was he verbally quoted - he did exactly the same work that he originally gave me the verbal quote for.

I would NOT recommend this unlicensed mechanic for ANY work whatsoever!

I was on my way to work and my vehicle was not warming up by the time I arrived at work there was significant power drop and steam!  Not Good.  My old auto repair man transferred  to a dealership and I have been dreading finding a new guy.  I refilled the radiator and the container on the side to see how bad it was leaking and then I called Rogers Auto because they are on my route to work, he answered the phone and I told him what happened he said bring it down.  I asked for reassurance that my issue won't get worse or cause more problems if I drove it he said it should be okay because I was not too far away.  I dropped it off and he listened to me and my experience he did not try and tell me what I experienced nor did he poo poo my words.
He called and said what he had discovered and how much it would cost to fix and that he had the part available and could start fixing it that afternoon.
He finished the repair the next morning and called to say it was done and to pick it up at my convenience. when I went to retrieve my car he should me the part and where the damage was, he answered my questions without me feeling he was talking down to me.  I appreciate that I really dislike being treated like I don't know what I am talking about or describing.  My father repaired cars and big rigs and I paid attention growing up so I know a something about vehicles and I know when somebody thinks I don't know what I am talking about and Rogers Auto didn't give me that vibe.
I think the cost was high but that doesn't mean as much as how the mechanic talks to me and treats me.  Besides I think that most car repair costs are high. (-:  Which is why I put NA on the ratings for price.  The reason for this review is for the excellent customer service I received.
    over all a good experience

    Fast Eddies Oil Change
We drove to Michigan from the West Coast in our GMC Acadia - a journey of 300 miles. Understandably the car needed a good clean on arrival. The first time that I went to Fast Eddie's, they were short staffed because the weather was overcast so I could get noting done. The second tine I was able to get the car detailed but they refused to wipe down the rear door interiors or touch the third row area at all or the rear trunk! What is the point of having a car cleaned two thirds?! The supervisor would not be persuaded. I actually did have the work done as our car was in desperate need of it ( we have two infants and I wanted a more hygienic environment for them) but the technician refused to wipe any of the rear door panels all of which I had to do at home.

Someone needs to tell them that the lifeline of any business is responding to consumer needs. What possible rational can they have (other than sloth) for not washing the rear interior third of an SUV or the trunk. All they have to do is match the price to the service. I am aghast that these people are in business. These are the same people who will complain about poor job prospects and low earnings.

wanted a wash and interior vac / facia wipe down for my wife's Jaguar X type. I called for an estimate clearly explaining what I wanted. $100 was the first quote - ludicrous clearly uttered without thought. It used to cost me $24 in California including fragrance and wheel wax. I re -explained the nature of the task. $40 was the next quote. I declined to discuss it further. I have used them before so was (to  a degree) forearmed. They are just boys making it up as they go without any clearly thought through service /cost menu. They will ask you what they think that you will pay. There is a real work ethic issue / customer service ethos issue  - not untypical of North Michigan.

    Bill's Auto Clinic
He was honest and up front about what he thought was wrong with vihicile and was very quick to repair it. The cost was about 12 of what we thought it would be and even less then a competitor quoted me for only one of issues. This place did good quality work for a reasonalble price and quickly.

This has got to be the single worst experience I have ever had buying a car. 3 years later and I still dont have copies of my loan papers. The radio was supposed to have been fixed before we drove it home. We were told it had bee as well as the temperature control knob for the heater. Found out a week after purchase that in fact neither had been repaired. Took another 3 months and a ton of phone calls to finally get the radio fixed. We were told the the finance company we were approved through offered a warranty for as long as we were paying for the vihicle. It was not a offer it was an added cost and it was only 24 months not for the lingth of the loan
Buyer Beware!!!! These people are devious and underhanded. Never again will I buy anything from any business associated with the name Williams.
This company is also not registered with BBB because of all of the complaints they have received. I tired to report them.

There are mainly two places I go for oil changes but this place outdoes the other by a long shot. I wasn't thrown in the ring and asked a million questions if I wanted this or that like my other mechanic does. It was simple, just a friendly conversation and the task was done efficiently and well. I really appreciated how the workers were friendly and weren't asking a car newbie like me a million questions and trying to get me to say yes to something I had no money for.

    Fast Eddies Oil Change
I got there as I have a few times before and as soon as I got in I was thrown a few questions that were probably part of the average lines that they ask people. I only wanted an oil change but of course I was asked if I wanted flushes and other things that I had no idea about. They did nicely change my wiper blade for around double the cost that it would've been to do it myself. In all it was average oil change, but too many questions were asked and I would rather do it myself.

    Stop Shop
I don't think they can do anything better.  Their shop is immaculate.  They got my truck in right away and they even did some work on it that needed done.  I wouldn't use anybody else.  They were very professional.
