    Field Plumbing & Heating
Whenever I need anything done, they make sure it happens according to plan. They are neat and always take their shoes off or wear buddies. If they do not know something, they tell me, find out about it and come and fix it. I have had some challenging problems but they were able to handle it. The staff were good.

The services I received from Bartholomew Heating & Cooling Inc. worked out really well. They were very good. We've done other business with them since then, including getting our air conditioner cleaned. They did a good, thorough job. They had to come back for something because something didn't work right, but I don't think that had anything to do with the first job they came for. I think it was because of something different.

It was pretty good!  They were a little bit higher price than what I hoped for, but they did a good job!  Their customer service was excellent!  They showed up when they said they were going to.

Of course the cost was not $.01 but that is not a fair thing to add to this review as each home/case is different. Geothermal is more expensive than other types of heating/cooling, but in the long run, it will pay for itself. We are commited to living on our farm for the long term and one of our children will likely end up here as well, so this was a good decision for us.
I know our home was a challenge for anyone because of all the old and various runs and additions, but Field P/H treated our home as if it were their own and made sure we were getting the best result. There were some minor issues at first, but they were able to engineer the solutions.

We had all kinds of ceilings, sheetmetal runs and walls for them to work with and I am pleased they found a way no matter what.
The owner provided us with the information for us to receive a tax credit for the geothermal. They had all the information for our CPA to use to apply it to our return.
This company has been in business since like 1961. The owner's father started it and Ken Field has run it for like 20 some years.
We now have on order a large generator Field Plumbing and Heating is going to install for us. Will post the result of that install.

    Mattawan Mechanical Services LLC
I had some trouble getting the well drilled so they brought in the materials and iinstalled the drain system on the original installation day.  Then they returned when the well was finished.  The second time,  they had a tight schedule, but they still took the extra time to replace my leaking hot water heater, which was unplanned.

Both days, the first thing they did was put a drop cloth on the floor from the outside door to the basement door.  The workers were all polite and appeared proficient.  The work area was cleaned well, when they finished.  The installation was very neat and professional looking.

The price was exactly as a quoted plus the water heater.

The only negative was that they didn't warn us before they  turned off the water. This was a minor inconvenience.

I would highly recommend Mattawan Mechanical Services,

    Suburban Heating & Air Conditioning
I called Suburban to have someone come out and give us a quote on installing central A/C in our existing home.  We have a ranch home with a walkout basement and an attic.  They scheduled someone to come out in a couple of days, which was fine.  The estimator arrived on time.  He immediately wanted to see our furnace, which was not relevant, because we have hot water heat, not forced air, so we have no ductwork.  He still insisted that he needed to see the furnace, so I showed it to him.  He then talked about installing the air handler next to our furnace and running ductwork in the downstairs ceiling.  I suggested to him that the air handler and the ductwork could be installed in the attic, since I knew that was frequently done.  He seemed surprised to discover that we had an attic.  When I showed it to him, he acknowledged that it would perhaps be a good idea to go that route.  He then finished up his work and promised to have a quote to us by early the next week.

The next week he called with a quote -- a couple of days later than I had anticipated.  The price was quite competitive with other providers.  However, he was proposing a larger system than we needed.  We determined that he had over-estimated the square footage of our home by about 25%, apparently because he had included the garage when he paced it off.  He corrected the quote and said he would e-mail it to us promptly.  After two days I still had not received the e-mail quote, so I called him, and he said he had already sent it, but he would send it again.  I then received it promptly.  However, the written quote had my first name wrong -- John instead of Joseph.

The following day I called him and asked if they carried high velocity A/C systems.  He said they did, but he was not personally familiar with those systems, so he referred me to his manager.  The manager said that the high velocity system would probably be about $1,000 higher than the conventional system, and he would get back to me with a quite within a couple of hours.  A day and a half later they finally called back with a quote for a high velocity system that was more than $3,000 higher than the conventional system.

At this point I chose a different contractor whose price and professionalism were better.  Suburban seems to be a well established company, but their estimator had very limited knowledge, he made multiple mistakes, and both he and the manager failed to follow through in a timely manner.  Overall, my impression was of sloppiness.
