5 Tips to Get the Best Tree Service

In the summer a sizable section of a tree had come down in my back yard, and I worried that another large section of the tree might land on my neighbor's roof. I asked Sean to come out and take a look at the tree. He gave me a quote of $340 to remove the tree. While I was at work he and a crew member started the process of removing the tree. He also agreed to help remove the neighbor's boat which stood near the tree and would likely have been struck by some of the branches. He took down the tree and carted it away, raking up the remaining leaves and branches. The work probably took longer than he anticipated, but he said that he wouldn't charge more than his original estimate. My wife was so impressed with the job that they had done, that she insisted that they take $400, which still was quite a bargain.

It is always a pleasure to work with true professionals. Jeremiah and his crew were just that. He knows a lot about trees (he is a certified arborist---not all tree trimmers are) and answered all my questions, submitted an estimate promptly, showed up when he said he would, and cleaned up afterwards. I will certainly call Top Notch again when I need any tree work done.

The team and all their equipment arrived precisely when promised. Care was taken to lay down planks and ply boards (presumably to avoid their heavy equipment from damaging our grass as well as protect the roots of our healthy trees). The team leader did all the cutting, but other members kept constantly busy removing and grinding fallen branches. Heavy limbs were quickly scooped up and removed to an area near the road where they were later lifted into the bed of a large truck. When the men who were grinding up limbs had a chance, they would pick up rakes and removed smaller debris. All stumps were ground up and excess chips removed. It seemed that each person involved knew exactly what his job was and kept constantly busy at getting it done. When finished, they left our yard clean and neat. We were highly impressed.

    Prestige Landscape & Design LLC
We hired Ben in November 2016 for a complete landscape overhaul at our home. He put a lot of time and effort into drawing up a detailed plan, and explained pertinent features of each plant he recommended. He took our preferences into account in regards to low maintenance, some color and deer resistant when coming up with the plan. We chose Ben as he seemed to be the most detail-oriented and responsive landscaper compared to other bids we obtained. Overall the project went well. He promptly did fall cleanup and completed the work by mid December 2016. We did have to remind him that some plants (pachysandras) were missing, which he planted in the spring. Come spring, most of the plants survived. A few hydrangeas didnt make it and Ben promptly replaced them. Some of the tulips and hostas didnt make it because of some animal activity, and some guidance/forewarning on this would have been helpful. A large section of rose bushes and hydrangeas, and some walkers low nepota also didnt make it, but Ben didnt replace those until the end of the summer and after a few requests. He said the plants didnt seem watered sufficiently but we had watered regularly and never noticed any growth after the winter. Part of our plan also included a new cedar arbor which turned out beautiful; unfortunately Ben did not inform us until the spring that it did not come stained and staining would be an extra charge; thus it lost some color over the winter. The cedar arbor also fell over during a windstorm, and Ben did promptly put it back up for us. He later stained and reinforced it in concrete for an additional charge. Although we didn't sign up for his maintenance plan, Ben still came by at various times over the past year to check on things and even did some weeding and watering at no charge. He planted a few extra flowering plants in the spring/summer, and provided instructions on how to properly water the plants. Some things may have been lost in communication but overall we are extremely satisfied with the outcome and have fully enjoyed our new landscaping.

    Wiseman Tree Experts
Everything went great. Wiseman had done work in our neighborhood and I was impressed with them. I called for pricing, the gentleman came out and gave me a quote. I approved the work. I got a call the next morning telling me that they had an unexpected opening that day, and the crew were there shortly thereafter. Within an hour the tree was down, the stump ground, and the tree was gone. Barely a twig was left behind. The folks in the crew were very efficient and professional.

    Trees 'N' Scapes Inc
We had three companies quote the project. Pricing was similar between the three. Paul was the only one that brought a detailed, computer drafted plan to us. (One brought dozens of catalogs and tried showing us different pictures of plants, but it was very scattered and not easy to visualize. The last company wanted to charge $750 to work up a plan before they would even quote (what if we didn't like it?).) Paul was easy to work with, easy to communicate with, and got a good idea of what we were looking for after our first meeting. The crew was professional and always cleaned up after themselves. Work was done over a number of weeks in the spring. The crew would come and go but Paul would usually let me know when they would be arriving. We didn't mind being flexible as this is a landscape company's busy time. The finished product turned out great -- they tore out all of the existing landscaping and cut down two large spruce trees. Redrew the lines for the landscaping, installed new edging, buried downspouts, installed 3 new trees, 50+ new plants, new mulch in all beds and surrounding maple trees (that we had installed by Treesnscapes earlier in the year). They also added soil to improve the grading around the house and fixed an AC unit that was not level. Finally, they installed flood, spot and path lighting throughout the landscape.

    Top Notch Tree Care
I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Not only did they remove and trim several trees (working in tight quarters), but they left my yard in nicer shape than when they arrived. We had high winds the day before that knocked down several dead branches and a ton of small debris; they raked everything up and hauled it off! I was also very pleased with their responsiveness in scheduling a site visit and providing a quote (an easy to understand one at that--it's difficult to communicate which trees on a crowded lot and the pricing options (trim, remove, discounts, etc) and they did great!). They are definitely our go-to guys for tree work now.

    Wiseman Tree Experts
I am very satisfied with Wiseman Tree Experts' service. The whole process was quick and most pleasant. The estimator came one day after email contact, tree was removed two days later and the whole site was left very clean. Communication was excellent and all done by phone, email and text, price seems appropriate. I highly recommend this company and will hire them again.

Smith Tree & Landscape Service Inc
They are a great company. They are very passionate about the trees. I've never had a problem. The fertilization is a continual service. They are coming out to remove a dead tree for me soon. The total for removing the tree and grinding the stump is $710.

They are pretty honest, they will tell you which trees are worth saving and which ones ones that won't have a long life span, they even told me the names of all these trees. They are very knowledgeable.

Excellent service!  Very responsive.  Provided an estimate the day after I called and performed the service that same day.  Did exactly what I asked and only what I asked, no more - no less.  Made sure no further damage occurred to the house when removing the tree.
