    Northtown Construction
Great Experience!! I had this company come out to inspect two leaks that showed after some bad weather. The roof wasn't very old, because I had just had it replaced two years prior with another company who wouldn't honor the warranty and eventually went out of business.
They sent out a man named Pat who inspected the entire roof and even went into the attic... I remember this because no other company did that.  He recommended removing the entire roof and said he didn't want to do the work unless I agreed to remove everything. I remember this as well, because he was the ONLY company that demanded this.  His reason was because he saw some rotting evidence in the attic.  He said he couldn't give a warranty by just going over the other company's work. I'm glad I agreed because when the guys removed the lower section, there was wet and soft wood. I was fortunate that it was only the decking and not the trusses and mold just started and was easily removed.  Oh...almost forgot...the other company didn't use something called Ice and Water Blocker which according to Pat was a code violation.
This company was on time and communicated with me the entire time. I am single and work during the day and Pat would call with updates while they were working.  He told me everything that was a possibility to surface and then contacted me with the results... for instance, he mentioned that we may need to repair some wood and he took pictures and sent them too me while I was at work. I felt like I was right there. This company is like no other I've ever worked with. When I got home, one of the guys would explain everything that was done and even held the ladder so I could climb up and see.  They left some extra shingles in case of weather damage in the future. They gave me a lifetime warranty and even gave me gutters on the front of my home. I mentioned to Pat that I had water getting into my basement and had a really big quote to get it waterproofed... guess what?... Pat gave me gutters for free on the front and that fixed the problem...saved me $12,000 in basement waterproofing... haven't had any issues and it's rained several times.  This company is rare. They care about their clients...this was important to me since I am a single woman. I highly recommend Northtown Construction.

Todd did a great job building the addition to our house.  He also converted a closet into a shower and split an existing room into a walk in closet and full bath.  He and his team did the framing, roof, painting and all the tile work in the bathroom.  He arranged and managed the plumbing and gutter work by subcontracting it out.
Todd takes ownership and pride in his work.  He does not hesitate to re-do/fix anything that does not come out perfectly.  He made sure I was satisfied with the work.
I would highly recommend him and will call him first for any future work.

The quality of Rich's work is always top notch. He is professional, reliable, courteous, knowledgeable, attentive to detail, trustworthy. The work areas were tidied at the end of each day. Rich does exceptional work that should be recognized.

I had not used them since they built our house for us. I would use them again but they're a little pricy. I would love to use them, I think they did a wonderful job in our house and I think they do a wonderful job in what they do, but they're a little bit pricy. It was 20 years ago but I've seen houses they've done since then. I had paid $206,000 in the past. I'd like to use them right now because I want my kitchen redone.

This was one of the worst experiences of my adult life. Mayberry Homes has lied to us and to our lawyer. They have stolen $7000 from us, despite our contract. i would not recommend this builder to anyone.

We employed Steve Eyke after a disastrous start to building our new home with a different builder . Steve took over the project during the final framing phase. Our home now is more than we imagined it could have been even though we were working with less money than originally was budgeted because of loss funds with the first builder. Steve designed features for the house to create the atmosphere we intended, and saw the execution to perfection (ie. custom moldings to evoke the era of home we wanted ). The Craftsmanship is impeccable and when we were unhappy with any sub-trade Steve dealt with the problem immediately and professionally. We were able to discuss all aspects of the designs and build with him and felt a member of the team.We could not give an A for punctuality because there were hold-ups in some areas ( ie. the painters were slow and unresponsive) but when made aware of these issues Steve dealt with them in a professional manner.I found we could approach Steve with any question or concern and receive prompt and informative responses. We returned to LaFollette several years later to perform some upgrades to our kitchen and other small tasks and received the same prompt and courteous work we were accustomed to from him. After investigating other homes and builders at great length we know that when comparing similar products and services, Lafollette has the greatest quality for the money , therefore the best value; and Steve has been great to work with for both our projects, being both approachable and reasonable.

    David Bruce Building
It was supposed to be approximately two months of work and ran over four months.  Dave insisted on an electrician who rarely showed up and we told Dave we iwanted to have let go.  The final result was a back-up on the whole job, an overload on wiring and a close call in a house fire from too much load on a switch.  Another electrician had to be called in and he tried to stick us with the extra expense.  Dave also left a lot of sloppy finish work for the painter to have to finese and fix.  It was the same for other workers on the job.....he left it for them to fix and do the job.  Fortunately, there were some good finish carpenters but it was a buck pass and Dave had already moved on to the next job kind of operation.  Everyone involved was frustrated.  He did little contracting of his own and we ran around getting many things needed for the job for the most part......as my husband stated, "who knew we'd be our own contractors?"  No dust barriers were put up and our entire back of our basement was covered in construction dust left for us to clean.  Also, a glass shower was to be installed which he had in his truck and he brought it in from frigid temperatures with no taping on the glass and did not let it acclamate  to indoor temperature from outside.  Something was said to him about the danger of doing this but he continued to carry it down the stairs and it blew up.  Another delay ordering another one and then he refused to install it because he had gotten cut.  He never uses proper safety for himself or crew and it is very disconceting to have that when it is on your property.  He cut right through live wires in the stairway wall with no goggles or other precautions.  Very poor clean up on the job site.  Each night the site was a mess and my husband would clean and mop as the dust penetrating the house was terrible.
Dave means well and is a nice person but he is unorganized and looks to have the cheapest guy for him do the work.  He does not oversee the job well and does not stand behind each part of the job as it is being done.  His attention to quality is lacking as well as his listening to the customer is very poor.  All these things continually get him into a bind and the frustration lands in the customer's lap.  I would not recommend him, I am sad to say.  I hate to give a bad review but this experience (particularly the electrical situation) left us unhinged.

He had lower prices but the quality of the work was very high. When there was problem he immediately came back and made sure those issues were resolved and taken care of. The deck is of a new material that is hard to work with and he did an excellent job on that. He cleaned up very well and our yard was back to looking like it had before that day.
