Garage Door Repair And Installation reviews in Okemos

    Paton Garage Doors
I very strongly recommend that you have Ross Patton come out and give you an estimate if you are going to either need a new garage door or repairs on your present garage door. I had two estimates from large companies. The people who came were salesmen and gave me both incomplete and even some wrong information.......and high prices for their products. Ross came and he was pleasant, knowledgeable and honest. He patiently went through all of my options and told me what he thought was best for my garage. I trusted his recommendation because of his demeanor. He just finished installing the garage door today. He and his partner did a great job. They did a great cleanup. He exemplifies why I go to Angies List to find people to do work for me. I would not have found him otherwise.

The estimate was provided quickly, and I had a couple of different options to consider in terms of door style, insulation, and belt drive options. It does take a few weeks between the time of down payment for the door to be manufactured and shipped to the company for installation. Doug was responsive, did a good job installing the door and belt drive opener, and accommodating of my need to do some painting of the garage door jamb.

Precision Garage Door of Mid Michigan
It was fast and easy to gain an appointment. I went ahead an replaced all the gears, springs and wheels so that it would work great for the next 20 years. The only thing is the warranty does not transfer if it is sold. I also mentioned that I had a keyless remote that I needed to install and he had it done in minutes.

The scheduling was easy although there was a wait to talk to an agent. The technician was knowledgeable and polite. My only disappointment was that not only was the price I was quoted high $905, but when the job was complete the price had climbed to $964. When I was surprised the technician said that he forgot to include a bracket. However, the bracket is itemized on the receipt at $25 so even that does not account for the difference. If you are charging a premium price stick with the quoted price.

Mike, the owner, responded to my call for service within 1 business day. He was very helpful in providing a quick turnaround for my replacement as I was leaving town and was concerned about securing my home. He quickly put together a replacement door that met my needs at a very affordable price--at least $200 lower than 3 other companies who provided quotes. The installer was very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. He arrived on time, did the replacement in a timely fashion, answered all of my questions about the door and opener functionality, and helped me to program a new remote for my opener. Both Mike and the installer were honest, professional individuals. I would highly recommend them to others, and will be calling them once my garage opener gives out (sorry, Mike, but I hope that is not too soon!).

We have a Liftmaster Torsion Large 2 Car garage door and the spring snapped.  Found this provider on Angie's list that takes calls 24 hours a day. We called around 8pm at night on a Tuesday and got an actual person to answer the phone.  They had us take a picture of the door/issue and text it to them and they called back within minutes and gave us a quote.  They were able to come out the next day and were very flexible with us.  They called before they left Howell so I was able to go over my lunch break and not have to miss any work.  They were right on time and were done in under half an hour.  Very professional and did not try to sell me anything beyond the door repair, but said that if we ever considered replacing the door they hoped we would think of them.  They were fantastic so I asked for a quote so I could keep it in mind for budgeting in the future.  We would use them again.

    Overhead Door Company of Lansing
in the height of winter, my garage door would not close. i contacted overhead garage and they responded on phone and came per schedule. the problem was a malaligned electronic eye which he tech fixed soon. the tech found faults with everything including the brand of motor, the state of rollers.the door itself. he was interested in nothing but breaking everything apart and sell me something. it is only a 10 year old house built by a very reputable builder, same brand works well in houses everywhere. Since I had moved into this house only a few months ago and was not able to program the keypad and one of my cars to the code, i asked him for the help. He tried half heartedly for a few minutes and gave up again quoting the crappy brand ( python) system. Incidentally a general handyman who came to fix some shelves in my house was able to program the keypad in no time. i allowed him to change the rollers on one of the doors( $180) when only one top roller was making a little rattling sound but was working. the service charge of $ 75 was still levied on top of the roller change. in the past another company came to fix a broken spring in my other house, it cost $140 for the spring and labor, the service call was not charged as repair work of greater value was done. It was however good that they sent somebody in 4 days, the other company had no opening for 2 weeks.

    Crawford Door Company
Crawford subcontracted the job to a local installer without telling me that they do this kind of thing. Much like department stores who act primarily as a sales agent.  The workers who did the work were fine but there's something phony about a truck with magnetic signage that covers the identity of the true operator/owner.  I thought the garage door was of average quality.  The aluminum panels were VERY thin and dented very easily. (Got what I paid for?  Do know.) Probably if there might be any need for follow up on the job I would probably call the sub-contractor.  To my knowledge Crawford never did a follow up call.

    Affordable Door
Mr. Floyd Gibbons, the owner of Affordable Door Inc, arrived at my house as promised and replaced two very rusty garage door springs. He explained to me that since the springs rust and break down at the same rate, they should both be replaced if one is broken. He was friendly and personable and did the work efficiently and professionally. He worked very hard to get an annoying squeak out of the door that we hear when the door is being raised or lowered. When he was only partially successful at getting rid of the squeak, he took the time to show me the source of the problem. He explained that the track had been installed to accommodate older brackets that were too short. The squeak is the result of the wheels rubbing against the bracket as they travel up or down at an angle. The amazing thing is that whatever he did pretty much eliminated the problem. It has been six months since the springs were installed, the door works perfectly, and there is virtually no squeak. Thank-you Mr. Gibbons! He also told me these springs should last for 20,000 cycles as compared to original springs which are usually designed to last 10,000 cycles or 8-10 years of average use. This is not only useful information to have but I appreciated the fact that he treated me as an intelligent person who would want to know about the expected lifespan of my springs.
