Countertop Installation reviews in Novi

  • I wish I could grade them higher because they do have a very nice selection and people were helpful. But it's not in how you start rather how you finish that matters most... and this finish was messy. The high gloss we expected on all pieces - per the material we purchased - was missed on several, as though the cuts were made from a mix of glossy and matte finish materials. This led to a need to 'polish' the pieces after they were installed leading to inconsistent surface look and feel. The shower curbs in both applications were angled out of the shower rather than sloping into the shower. Furthermore one of those curbs was actually wobbling in place, leading to a discovery that it had been installed with 4 spots of silicone, period. On the 3rd visit to complete the work I asked the installer about the wrong direction of the curb slope and the material wobbling atop 4 squirts of silicone. His response was not comforting, including that he has to make the caulk and other such materials on the truck 'last' so he is sparing in how much he does use. Too bad the silicone was not enough to hold the curb steady (requiring me to pay another artisan to remove it AND the other threshold which was also angled incorrectly), clean them, repair the compromised surface to which they would be secured and then to install the thresholds at the proper angle and with no chance of play or movement). Really.

  • Everything went well. The work was done professionally. One thing that stands out with Stonebridge is that the majority of their workers are direct employees. Dawn, the owner, stopped in frequently to check on the progress and quality of work. From beginning design through completed kitchen everything went as agreed upon. No surprises. I will use Stonebridge again for future bathroom renovations. We could not be more pleased.

  • The company did an excellent job. Met with the owner Nicolas, he measured up and the install crew came and and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend Granite and Marble Design for your counter-top needs.

  • I started with Kitchen Master in July of 2015. I have Pioneer Cabinetry and wanted to make a few changes without installing all new cabinets. They referred me to Kitchen Master. KM did some drawings. We decided what we wanted done and they referred us to several vendors to pick our materials. They also included 3 hours with their designer. While I had already picked most of what I wanted, she confirmed the overall look and offered a couple suggestions that were helpful. We signed our contract in December with an end of April install date. I will say the vendors they recommended were very helpful and all companies I would work with again. Especially Witbeck Appliance. Our job was supposed to take 2 weeks, but we decided to do the demo ourselves which was supposed to lop off a day or two. Prior to removing all of our appliances, countertops, sink etc I touched base with KM to make sure we were still on track. I was told we were. Then I touched base with their countertop guy to make sure the timing of measuring was coordinated. He said he could not come out for two weeks. So I called KM to see if we should postpone the job and they assured me the countertop guy was wrong and would be out on Tuesday as scheduled. So we removed everything from our kitchen on Sunday. Guess what? Countertop guy did not measure for two weeks. So in the time frame that our job was supposed to be done, almost nothing was done. We had no appliances, no counters, no sink. It was horribly inconvenient and could have been easily avoided by postponing the job. I called, texted or emailed the "project manager" almost daily. I either got incorrect response, delayed response or no response. Lots of excuses including that he was on vacation. You would think he would tell the client and provide the name of someone else to contact. One of my cabinets came in the wrong size and they installed it anyway. When I tried to figure out a fix with the carpenter he yelled at me, told me to fix it myself and stormed out of my house. They also installed warped crown molding. There were a few other small things. It seemed like they installed things they knew were wrong in hopes we wouldn't notice then got mad when we did. There were issues with the tile backsplash and it had to be redone a couple times. While I understand that things happen, the lack of attention and communication from the project manager, workers not showing up and things not getting done when they were supposed to led to complete distrust of KM and lots of frustration. We didn't want to go home at night see that either nothing was done, or what was done was not 100% right. After 4 weeks and a day of several calls and texts with no response as to when anything would be fixed or finished, I called the office in total frustration. I was told the lack of communication from the project manager is common. In fact, later some of the guys working said he doesn't call them back either. The woman in the office was super helpful, sent out a great guy that agreed with me on everything that needed to be fixed and finished, and everything was ordered. Job was supposed to start 4/25 and be complete by 5/6. The kitchen was operational by 5/27 and complete 8/8. Not quite what we expected. I know a good plumber and a good electrician and a good carpenter. I could have hired people to do the work, managed them myself and paid less money. However, I hired KM and paid a premium to have a manager so the job would be done on time and seamless for us. Ha. That is definitely not what we got. We were supposed to have a meeting with the project manager about issues with the tile backsplash, but the owner came instead. He was able to see some of the issues and we were able to communicate our frustration with the process. In the end, thankfully, they fixed everything and the kitchen turned out exactly as we hoped. It looks beautiful and the final quality of the work is good. Unfortunately it was a very miserable three months getting there.

  • GT took a 31 year old builder grade condo kitchen in tear out condition and turned it into a showpiece! White shaker cabinets, black GT countertops and full height black GT backsplash make the kitchen look like a tuxedo! Sales rep Stephanie was very knowledgeable and helpful about what we could modernize and reconfigure (drawers instead of a cupboard and pull out trash bin instead of a cupboard). Owner Margot Narens is the most patient person on the planet. She calmly dealt with my last minute changes and couldn't have been nicer. Ditto Anna and the other girls in the showroom. Installer Jeff is a genius at what he does, and he does it all. Jeff came and did the initial measurements and template, the tear out of old doors, drawers, etc., installed everything cabinet-wise, and oversaw the install of the countertop and base- to- wall cabinet backsplash. He is the nicest, most meticulous master craftsman we've ever met. The countertop install crew was very professional too. The cost was reasonable, considering the amount of labor and material involved, with little or no mess, and we couldn't be happier. This was a spur of the moment move for us; I am in poor health, and the process was VERY difficult, as we discovered many, many issues that the former owner neglected to disclose and had to be addressed. I thank everyone at GT for their competence and kindness. They took a damaged, uncaredfor mess and. made a masterpiece. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you guys! Mary Anne & Don Dolan

  • SRS is an exceptional company. Greg was very quick to respond when I contacted him, and returned with  reasonable quote in a very timely manner. The work called when he was on his way to my house, and arrived promptly. The work SRS did was outstanding, restoring my granite countertop to its original luster after it was damaged by a spill. Before leave, the young man also offered some suggestions on the ccare of the countertop to keep it looking beautiful. Great company to work with. I give SRS my highest endorsement.

  • This company was so professional, friendly, punctual.  They did a beautiful job and even helped us make decisions.  They were in and out in a day just as they said they would be.  We are so happy with our granite counter tops.  They were true to their word and there were no hidden fees.  We would use them again in a heartbeat.

  • Cherry Building is a small company so it was a bit of a wait before Scott could begin.  We actually got several bids from qualified contractors but this was a big job and we wanted to feel comfortable that it would be done right.  Scott was very accommodating and he put us at ease.  So we didn't mind waiting for Scott to finish his other projects before he began ours.  Scott didn't have the lowest bid but everything we wanted was included and there were no surprises at the end of the project.  We actually added a couple of things and he was very reasonable in what he charged.  Having said all that, the project took 7 weeks from start to finish.

The job went very well.  Scott and Dave cleaned up every night and removed all waste without having a dumpster parked in our driveway. Even though we were without a kitchen, the rest of the house stayed relatively clean and free from dust and debris.  Every little detail was tended to.  All along, they treated the job like it was in their own home.

I have to say that at the end we were more than ready to use our new kitchen and laundry.  It was a long road but the end result was well worth the wait.  We could not be happier and we hope to have Scott and Dave remodel our bathrooms in the future.

One last note, I asked Scott if he could help me move a large and heavy pantry cabinet down to the basement.  He said sure.  When I came home the next day, they had already moved it, having had to disassemble it to get it down the stairs and then reassembled it in the basement.  Like I said, just like it was their home.
