    WOW!! I have used other providers for this same service in the past and they exceeded my expectations. They were very thorough and knowledgeable about their cleaning and took the time to explain what they were doing along the way. They also gave great suggestions to prevent future buildup!!     Terrible. First they were supposed to arrive at 9:30 and did not show up until 11:30. When crew got there they said they could not do half the job that Tom the sales guy quoted, and that he severely under estimated the square footage and tha the cost would go up a bunch. The half that they could not do was the biggest reason they were even called out to quote it. After calling the sales guy and arguing how they were wrong and I was not paying more than quoted, they did agree to do the half they could for what they quoted. The crew did a good job on the work performed, but it took much longer than thought. Originally they were supposed to be there by 9:30 and done by around 2pm and they did not leave until 6pm because they were late and then the negotiations started. After they left they called to say the bill was gonna be more because they used more material than estimated. Luckily I required a text confirmation of our agreement and had to tell them again I was not paying any more than agreed and I sent payment. Did not hear from them again. Would not recommend!

    Met the company at the cabin show in Novi. Free home energy audit normally a $100 fee. We scheduled it at the Show and 15 minutes before the appointment their rep called to say he was going to be late because he was on a paying job and does not make any money on the free energy audits unless we place an order and then started to question how serious we were and if all decision makers were gonna be there so a deal could be signed at the appointment. He would come if he thought he was going to get a sale immediately but did not want to pull off a paying job for nothing. I come from a sales background and I believe you should work for your sales with a good presentation, professionalism, and follow up. These guys don't want to show up unless you promise a sale. The sad thing is I had another contractor screw me recently and had a bunch of work possible but they will not get it.

    Our house is 105 years old and is rather unconventionally built, having been added on to multiple times over the course of its history. The portion of the basement with the furnace is stone foundation, with raw timbers supporting the subfloor instead of a sillplate and rim joist. The room with the unconnected heat register sits above a crawl space that was formerly outside of the original foundation, and can only be accessed by crawling through a small window opening from the basement portion. The furnace plenum was at capacity with heat runs, so there was not room to add the additional run upstairs and still have it sit above the A/C coil.
    We got quotes from 4 contractors. Doug (owner of Alert) stood out when he came by because he carefully thought through every aspect of the project and engaged us in dicussing it. He noted the potential for complications at several points, whereas other contractors seemed not to notice, or at least did not mention it if they did. He did some calculations of duct sizing to ensure our supply and return run capacities were matched. No one else seemed too concerned with how to get the exhaust and intake vents through the stone and timber foundation to the outside, or mentioned the need to drop the A/C coil in the plenum, or spent much time considering how to thread the new heat runs up through the floor joists, timbers, and existing heat runs, which made for very tight spacing. Doug was with us for two hours, discussing the particulars of the project as he envisioned it and worked through it in his head. Other contractors seemed cavalier about things, by comparison, and were in and out in about 20 minutes.
    The team that did the install (Joe and Chris) was very friendly and courteous, and got everything done in a very reasonable time frame. The install is clean-looking and effective, and we're quite happy with the results.

    Bought a Groupon for $99.   $15 for each additional duct.    Also had them clean my furnace and my dryer vent.    Very professional, clean and helpful.    Called me back right away, made an appointment, called me the day of to remind me of the appointment and were on time.     Liked them so much I am bringing back again this year and have recommended them to other people.    Deal with confidence.

    It went well, The provider showed up and went through an extensive testing and cleaning of my A/C system. I wasn't home but my son-in-law was. When I did arrive the provider went through the system with me and what he found. There was no upselling related to the service but there was a service agreement that was offered.I was happy with the service and will be happy to use them again.

    Beautifully Restored Cleaning
    The scheduler was worthless. Not very professional. Called to confirm an appointment and I said no you said I could not have that day because you said you would not be in town. He said don't worry about it, we will be there. After they were an hour late, I called and said where are they, he said they are not coming today not in your part of town. He said sorry, but I called you right back and left a message stating you were correct and we would be back tomorrow. Still never received that message.

    Now the cleaners that showed up were great, professional, on time, and did some extra work that I had not scheduled. If it was not for them I would have given this company a much lower rating. The cleaners made up for the bad scheduler.

    I was more than satisfied with Dave, who wrote up the proposal, to the crew, who performed the two installations.  The work was completed in three days and I don't have one negative comment.  They were polite, professional, knowledgeable, went over and above written requirements, and cleaned up after themselves.  Their name says it all - they treated me like "Family!"

    They had to go down in crawl space, which thankfully is fairly deep, to get to the duct work.  Showed us video of duct work before cleaning.  Blew dirt down from all vents in house, then used cleaning tool throughout the duct work to loosen debris and vacuumed everything up.  Showed after-video of result - big difference.  I'm hoping this will help with our constant dust problem.  They pointed out that one of our vent covers was upside down - it's a return duct and is up high so I have always been able to see the 2x4 in the wall --- got back up on their ladder and took it down and fixed it.  I told him it has always driven me nuts that I could see that 2x4 but didn't know it was upside down ;-)

    Our furnace would light but no our forced-air system was forcing no air. Family came out and diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately for us our furnace had an oddball blower in terms of both physical size and output. The tech installed a temporary fix so that we would have heat and then went and got the proper unit. We were only charged for the one service call--amazing in this day and age. But this is the type of service we have always gotten from Family, no matter if it was to fix our A/C or the furnace in either our Canton or New Boston home. I am mightily impressed with them.
