    Brian Kalinowski Builder
Terrible. He would tell me he was coming to do something, never show, never let me know to reschedule. I chased him for 17 months trying to get my work completed and finally fired him. I still have 2 doors that need to be replaced (among several other things that need to be completed) and lost over $1000. I would never recommend him.

We are beyond pleased. James was timely in scheduling, conducting and providing the quote. He was thorough and listened to our ideas but also offered realistic suggestions. James books up fast, but he is completely worth the wait. He is meticulous with his work, professional, respectful, on time, efficient and extremely knowledgeable. We received several quotes and James was significantly lower ($5000-6000 less) which may deter some but dont let it! He books up fast for a reason. We are still amazed at the quality of work for the price compared to our other quotes because we never thought we would end up finding someone within our budget. We also appreciated James ability to quickly adjust to surprises behind the walls. While we had to alter a few minor things, we still got the look we were going for. We highly recommend Superior Carpentry and are already quoting our next project!

    Superior Carpentry
The company is aptly named, as they did truly superior work. Mr. Scherzer was accurate with the estimate and performed the work very quickly and with precision. The job, which was expanding and remodeling a powder room, took less than six work days. From tearout to finish work all was well done and daily cleanup was outstanding. We had tile installation, conversion to a pocket door, expansion of the powder room and an adjacent closet, granite installation and installation of new fixtures. They also moved plumbing lines that were installed in a concrete slab, cutting the slab and refilling the trench with concrete. The only work subcontracted was the manufacture and install of the granite. The three men were courteous, helpful and provided guidance when we weren't exactly sure how to proceed in the best way. I would highly recommend Superior Carpentry. They are very busy, however, and do not subcontract so plan to book several months in advance and be prepared to put down about half when booking the job.

    Tri City Remodeling
TriCity did a great job. Their estimator met with me and explained how the job would be done, then e-mailed me the estimate and the appropriate licenses. The workmen showed up when they said they would. They were very careful about covering my carpeting and furniture. They did an excellent job, cleaned up everything and even came back to touch-up the paint. I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them.

    John's Handyman Services

Customer beware, his price might be favorable but the quality of John's work is sorely lacking.   I hired John to reroof my house and basically hired him because of his low price as compared to 2 other contractors.  The roofing job went well.  Crew came in and completed the work in a timely manor, cleaned up, and I was a happy customer until the rains came!  It has now been over a year and I still have leaks around my chimney and my skylight.  Initially when the leaks occurred I called John and he came out and worked on them and told me I shouldn't have any more problems.  I believed him as he seemed to be a sincere and honest person.  Its now been over a year and I still have water coming in and John quit answering my calls because he told me "I was just too ornery."

There is much more to this story so read on if you're considering hiring John.  He is a chatty fellow and can be very likable.  While he was doing  my roof I told him I was planning on redoing my shower/bathtub and making it a walk in shower.  I asked him if he did this sort of work and he assured me he could do everything. Tile work?  No problem!  He'd done showers before  and he could do mine.  We agreed on a cost for labor and I was to buy the materials.  Well not only did he not know how to do a shower but the "shower/tile expert" he brought in to help didn't know how to do a shower either!  I now have a walk in shower that doesn't drain properly and tile that is so misaligned it is embarrassing. The really unfortunate thing is that I trusted John to come in and finish the shower while I was in Florida.  With no one at home to supervise the work,  it turned out a disaster. John took it upon himself to regrout my bathroom floor so the grout on the floor matched the grout in my new shower.  Never told me he was going to do this just decided to do it when I was in Florida.  What a mess!!!  He ruined my tiled floor.  John and I had several discussions about the poor outcome of the job and he offered to redo both the shower floor and the bathroom floor.  This hasn't happened.  It's been close to a year and I've given him numerous chances to make this right and he hasn't done what he promised. I am now in the process of filing a lawsuit against him and is business.

Read on if you're still considering using John because he is a really nice guy and really likable.......John also did some gutter work for me and upon returning from Florida my basement was flooded and carpeting and furniture ruined because he decided I needed an   additional downspout in the middle of the back of my home.  He hadn't secured the extension and it was off and my basement was flooded because of it. I had to call in a restoration company to the tune of $2500 not to mention the loss of carpeting and furniture.   I then had to have all new gutters put on the back of my house for an addiditonal $800.  All this and I paid John $187 to fix the 2 leaks!  (Which still leaked!!!!!)

I figure it cost me close to $5000 to save a few hundred.  I've learned a very  costly lesson.

Arrived when they said they would.  Had to use alternative approach to snug sagging ceiling.  Cost an additional $110 for materials. Very professional.  Workmanship appears to be good.

    John's Handyman Services
Did a great job of making sure to work with my schedule during the entire process.  Took care of properly anchoring my electrical box so a ceiling fan could be installed once done.  Also patched several small spots on the walls.  Cleaned up each time after that days work.

    Rich's Handyman Service
Rich is hard-working, honest, patient, helpful, and very skilled at what he does.  He has a wealth of information on home repair and maintenance, and he makes every effort to instruct the homeowner "so you don't have to call me."  He's fair in his pricing and makes every effort to minimize costs without sacrificing quality.

    VAN HORN'S PRO DRYWALL SVC
Good job of describing how the work would be done. He worked around the problem of furniture being left in the room.  Did everything in a timely manner.  Replaced about a third of the ceiling and several side wall panels.  Blended in very well with the rest of the room.  Textured the ceiling to match the rest of the room.  Cannot tell the difference between old and new.

    EA Hobart
This is fourth time I used Eugene Hobart for carpentry. The work he has done for me is: built a porch; replaced a roof; inside remodeling of building a wall; and most recently replacing a drop ceiling with a drywall ceiling. Eugene is all around excellent. I especially appreciate his prompt responsiveness, either answering his calls personally or returning my call very promptly. He sticks to his estimates and is very fair and reasonable in his prices. I have never had to wait very long to get the work done. He keeps a very clean work site. I have trusted him with access to the work site (home) without me needing to be there since I live 1-1/2 hours away. When we set appointments to meet for estimates, to check his work, or payment, he is always on time. He's honest, ethical, trustworthly, friendly, personable, and fair.
