  • The first service man charged us but when he left, the refrigerator still leaked - which was the original complaint. I tried to get him back the same day but that didn't happen. And I couldn't get rescheduled for a second visit until 2 weeks later. The second repairman did repair it with no problem.. Turns out the first repairman didn't do a thorough enough job and only repaired part of the problem. So in total it took 4 weeks and 2 repairmen to fix our leak. Not impressed with competency of the first repairman. And I was disappointed in Sear's slow response time in finally fixing their problem and satisfying their responsibility. I feel they should've returned immediately since they hadn't really completed the promised work for which they were already paid.

  • After 15 years my gas clothes dryer had quit making heat but would still tumble clothes and run thru the select cycles. Initially I tried to call a previous service provider I had used and found the number I dialed only answered by ATT and an offer was presened to dial another provider as the number was no longer in service.
    Discouraged I went out and priced replacement dryers online and in local stores.After finding a couple units I decided to find another repair provider to get an opinion on the units and possibly hire the provider to do the installation. I called Kel's Appliance and Bob answered. He indicated he could get to me the same day after a stop he already had planned. The proposed time was 5:15PM. Bob recommended I first have him look at the unit to see if it would be better to repair it. 
    When he arrived on site he looked and noticed the duct had quite a bit of lint stuck in it but felt after seeing the operation of the other functions that there might be something simple to repair. After opening up the unit he found a bad fuse near the ignition switch and replaced it. While he was at it he cleaned the unit, removing a lot of dust and dirt much of which was tuck in crevices and behind components I would not have been able to get to. Bob then went outside found the duct and cleaned it (it was located under my deck). Bob then returned inside and cut and better placed the duct where is goes into the wall. All of this took just under two hours and afterward Bob cleaned the area and I happily wrote him a check. 
    All the while this guy was working he explained how to maintain the appliance and how a gas driyer works. He also had me look inside the unit so I would know how to judge the heating unit is still working like new. After all of this I'm confident this dryer is ready for several more years of duty.
    I've already told four friends about Bob and Kel's Applicance Service and will confidently use this company for future repair needs.

  • The dishwasher in the house I was renting quit; and I was concerned about the smell of gas in the older oven range. It was a very busy week for them and we initially had a difficult time scheduling, due to my commitments, too, but the woman in the office was very helpful and accommodating. Monte did arrive while I was still at home and he was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and professional. He diagnosed the d/w problem immediately and was able to fix it. He spent time checking out the range, even though the gas-emissions did not register at a problem level. It was just an old range. I had total confidence in Monte and would definitely recommend Nelson's.

  • What did impress me was that the owner actually manned the service call phone, I really liked that. The actual person assigned the repairs was not the owner. He arrived a’ bit later than I thought (2 hours), but since I stated a "not before time" I figured that was my problem for not being more specific on seeing if I could get a more approximate time. Anyway, the diagnostic charge was reasonable for this first visit and the technician was cordial. An agreed upon time and day was setup to come back and replace the parts. That second visit day came and went. I called the next day and was told to expect a call from the technician. I did not receive his call until about 30 minutes before his arrival, again not what I had thought was agreed to, but I was glad to get the parts installed. Turns out that the replacement parts revealed that the burner pot switch needed replacing, here is where I was a little concerned that the technician did not recognize this before I did. I asked him to check it and he did confirm it needed replacement. So, now a third visit was needed. Another week went by, and like before the agreed upon day and time went by and I had to follow-up to re-schedule. Through all of this I really appreciated the responsiveness by the owner to answer the phone and be responsive. Delays aside, I did not feel the particular technician assigned to my job could provide any more advice than what I learned myself on the Internet. Strong points included great professionalism and a responsive call staff (owner), but overall I really wanted to like this place more. I was disappointed, but the stove has been fixed and of course that was the objective. I also did learn a lot from the experience and feel confident I will be able to handle this myself if it happens again. In the future, for any additional large appliance repairs, however I think I may try another shop.
