Strickland Companies LLC, Lansing Lawn & Snow
Stephanie and her entire crew have been great!! They have been incredibly reliable and have excellent communication. For financial reasons I always try to do my own hard work but there are often times when I just can't get to it and even though I don't ever expect Lansing Lawn and Snow to squeeze me in, as I assume they have regular accounts they have to put first, understandably, they still manage to work me into their busy schedule. They just did my yard yesterday, at a time when I figured it was too late in the season. Without fail... this company has been a God-sent! Highly recommended!!

It was late on a Sunday evening and they were willing to help us when everyone else was snuggled inside their homes. With their help and another passerby, they were able to move the car out of the snow rut. Thank you! We appreciate you and will keep you in mind if we need any lawn care or snow removal help. They even plowed the part of the driveway the car was stuck. We will be sure to pass your info along to neighbors. Thank you!

When the gentleman came to the house for the estimate, he was told we needed the area in front of the house plowed so the mailman could deliver the mail. We decided to have them do the sidewalks also, along with the whole driveway which went out in back of the house. He was also told that they could not take a plow up the driveway past the gate as it was very narrow and they would run the risk of damaging either the fence or the air conditioner compressor. He indicated that was no problem as they had snow throwers to handle that area. The first snow, I went outside to see how things were progressing and found that they had driven the vehicle up the whole driveway and found they had a difficult time trying to turn the truck around to get back out. They were told never to do that again. They also used a small shovel to clean the sidewalk, leaving a narrow path to walk. The second time they came out, I cornered them about the driveway as far as doing it out back and they indicated they would have to use shovels to do it. When asked about the snow throwers, they indicated they had all been taken by the other crews and they did not have one to use. They said if we weren't in any hurry to get out, they would come back later and finish it. That was about 4am in the morning. We waited and waited until mid afternoon for them to return and when it appeared they were not, a neighbor came and finished doing what they should have done. In talking with the two gentlemen that had come to do the plowing, it was apparent that what the original gentleman had been told was never relayed to the crew as they said that what I was telling them had never been put on the card. I decided they were not capable of handling the job and sent them an email that from that point on, they were only to do in front of the house and the driveway out front of the gate. Another snow came and they showed up to do what I had asked, but brought along a snow thrower to do the rest of the driveway, which they were not to do. With the fence, the driveway is narrow and when they were done, the snow was piled along the fence as well as up against the basement wall of the house. With the driveway being narrow to begin with, it left little room to get the vehicle down the driveway. Again I had to have the neighbor clean up after them and they had been told to leave that area alone. Needless to say, it appeared there was a general lack of communication on their end and I sent them another email cancelling anything further with them. I waited and waited for them to send a bill and finally had to call and leave a message that if they we could get a bill to me, I would send a check for what I owed. Amazing, after I left the voice mail the bill was finally sent. I couldn't help but wonder if I hadn't called and left the message on it, when would I have received it. The whole ordeal was not worth it. What a crock.

    T & K Landscaping & Snow Removal
My usual shoveller was a no-show, so I called T & K about 3:15 in the afternoon.  Tyrone said he didn't have any plows available, but didn't want to lose a potential customer, so he would come by with a crew and personally shovel by hand.  Within half an hour, he and one other man shovelled my drive in about 25 minutes.  It's not super-long or difficult, but there was at least a foot of snow and the sun had been out so it was very heavy.  As an elderly woman, with shoulder problems, I could not have done it myself.  They did a very thorough job and salted afterward.  Both very friendly.  Will hire them for yard work in the spring.

I contacted Green and Sons the week of the first major snowstorm in Lansing.  They cancelled my contract stating that they would not be able to perform the service as planned.  I had to scramble to find someone else.

    Mgm Services/ Todd Edmond
Last year, a very bad winter, Mr Edmond performed wonderfully.  He was pleasant, responsive and prompt.  This season, he has cleared my drive three times (according to him).  I had no complaints until 2/2/2015. I called him and asked if he could clear my drive before a doctor's appointment the next day. It was snowing when I called him and the forecast called for snow through the next day. I asked Mr. Edmond if he would be able to plow my drive in the morning, so I wouldn't be snowed in again prior to my appointment. (I had a neck injury and this appointment would determine if I would receive Short Term Disability payments). At aproximately 10am, it was unclear if he had plowed the drive. The first 8 feet out from the garage did not look as if it had been touched. I ended up having to take a cab to and from the appointment which cost me $79. On 2/6/2015 texted Mr. Edmond and asked what time he had plowed the drive, and he said between 3 and 4 AM. I told him that at 1030, the drive was impassable. To which he responded that if I did not pay he would just take me to collections and that he wouldn't be plowing my drive anymore. I asked him if we could discuss this over the phone. My neck injury made texting very painful and I thought business should be discussed over the phone, not in text.  After which I tried to call him, and he did not answer. I called him numerous times and left voice messages for him to call me and discuss this like adults, and he ignored all my messages.
I finally texted him and said that I would pay him for the plow, even though I felt he had been negligent and done very poor work, but I would also include this report to Angie's List. He texted me back and threatened to call his "counselor" due to "defamation".
IF Mr. Edmond did plow my drive, it was so early that it was no longer passable by the time I needed to get out.  I'm also very disappointed that he refused to discuss this in a professional manner over the phone and immediately responded with threats.  This is not how a professional in any business should operate.

Spartan has plowed our driveway about 8-9 times this winter. They come promptly but they wait until the snowfall is finished. If it is a heavy snow that lasts for hours, they come when necessary to get out of the driveway and then return to finish the job after snowfall is ended. They also will return free of charge after the county plow has filled the end of the driveway if we call and request it. They're careful to avoid damage to the lawn. They come with two men in the truck; one shovels the front walk and around a parked car while the driver plows the heavy snow. We have had three or four other plow services over the years. Spartan is by far the best. My only concern is that everyone else will read this review and hire them, making them too busy.

They came during the big freeze in Lansing. We had a scheduled appt but my car had died and they checked in with me, adjusting their time to accommodate and make sure I was back. Additionally they were fast, reasonably priced and did a great job. I'd hire again for sure!

    Scapes Professional Landscaping
I've used them for four years.  The first three went fine but this last year the quality and punctuality really went down.  They used to have the snow cleared early in the morning.  This past year we were lucky if they came around by noon to clear the snow which defeated the whole point.  They would show up in the early afternoon after I already dug myself out and most of the snow had melted.  They also failed to clear the snow between the vehicles in the driveway as they had done in the past.
Their lawn care was also lacking this past year.  We were lucky if they came by once a week even though we requested more frequent service.  They would typically come very early in the week even after we had discussed wanting them to come later so the lawn would be short for the weekend.  And they did not take care of a particular area of the lawn that the owner and I specifically discussed early in the season.  Time to find another provider.

I have used them for snow removal.
They did some great, well priced work in my yard last spring.
THIS year....the person missed the first appt. because he "entered my phone number  wrong" (I should have been in the books anyways)  and then he came the next week: I had to call and ask where the estimate was a week later I got it, about $300 mote than I anticipated.....I cut back  some items and sent the contract back...waited another week to hear,,then I just canceled.
Of course then, I got an immediate  letter of apology...but , Im over it.... VERY NICE to talk to though.
