    GARNO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
After submitting my application 3 times and my girlfriend submitting her application 2 times we were told we needed to fill out an application and provide proof of employment, which I had already done 3 times. Could never get anything other than an automated response any time I emailed them, I called numerous times to try to find out what was going on with our applications as my current lease was almost up. Always got an answering machine and it took 4 days or more after leaving a message to get a call back. After we finally got to see the house we wanted to rent we were told my girlfriend needed to fill out an application. Which she had already done 2 or 3 times.

The home was sold quickly and efficiently. Mr. Manuel communicated with us throughout the process and did all of the legwork for us. We really just had to sign on the dotted line, which was exactly what we hoped for.

Dave was a lot of fun to work with and was honest when a house wasn't right for me. I appreciated that from him. He was also always available to work with my schedule to get me into houses when I wanted and negotiate my crazy offers. I am not sure what the cost was for him or what commission he received so I put $500 but know that it was a percentage of the purchase price and was likely more than that.

Kara worked hard to find just the right house and property based on the information I provided.  The list of requirements we provided was long and I had hoped to find a house with maybe 75% of them met.  Kara took time to understand what we were looking for and persisted until she found one that amazingly met all of our requirements.  Throughout the purchase process she stayed on top of the progress and kept us informed.  I always felt that she was honest with me and kept my best interests in mind.  If I sell or purchase again in this market I will definitely contact Kara.

UPDATE Craig DeHaven, 62, pleaded guilty Friday Nov 14, 2014, in U.S. District Court to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, court records show. He faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced in March 2015.  The prosecution is the result of a continuing investigation by a task force that includes the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Lansing police.

When I was considering hiring DeHaven as the rental agent for my property, Craig DeHaven explained any repairs would be charged at a flat hourly rate.  I noted he said $25 an hour.  There was no mention of an additional $20 Truck Charge or an additional 10% Corporate Overhead charge.  When I called to ask why there was a Corporate Overhead charge, since I am not a corporation, I was told, by Gini DeHaven  we are.   The hourly charge was also $42, not $25.  The Corporate Overhead charge was even charged on the $20 Truck Charge.  Some maintenance was charged, but no invoice was sent to detail what it was.
The contract was for me to pay $75 a month for rent collection, pay bills, take maintenance calls plus $15 month "insurance" for DeHaven to cover all costs in the case of an eviction being needed.
It took them over 3 months to rent the house,  while charging me rental fees and eviction fees every month, even though the house wasn't rented.  I also had prefunded my account with $500.  They kept half the first months rent when it was finally rented in Feb 2012,  for their labor of showing and advertising.   The 1st tenant moved out after 3 months (on a one year lease) and they rented to someone else without notifying me at all.  They charged me another $300 for half the first months rent.  The statements were so confusing it was difficult to figure out what had happened.  I have no idea what happened to his deposit.  The 2nd tenant moved out after 6 months (on a one year lease) and again I received no notification.  DeHaven had my phone and email and had been told I preferred email contact.  I only knew they had moved out because the utilities were back in my name. When I called DeHaven, they said oh yea, but we have it rented again.   I did receive part of her deposit to cover utilities between rentals but she was given back the rest.   When I started asking questions, instead of just trusting them, I'd send a list of questions by email and Craig would answer one of them, and say, let us know if there is anything else we can do.  Sometimes repeated requests still did not get an answer.
Example: "When was his last rent paid?   Were there any damages?  Am I being charged any costs incurred for the new rental?  Who is the new tenant, are the terms the same and could I get a copy of the lease?  Was the electric meter actually physically read by your staff or Consumers, since it's inside?  The way I read Mr ____  lease, I should not incur any costs or loss of rents so will I be receiving the full check for last month and this month?"
The response I got was: "The former tenant paid rent right up to the time the new tenant moved in. It is rented for the same about $600 per month. Please let us know what else we can provide for you."   He failed to answer several questions.

The 3rd tenant had a one year contract.  Apparently DeHaven allowed the tenant to stay on, on a month to month basis after the year because there was no new contract signed.  Again, I was not notified of this.

In April 2014, I received a message that the tenant had moved out and totally trashed the place.  I was told they have no way to contact him and I was charged $1546.76 for cleanup and repair of damages.  I have no idea what happened to his deposit

I went out to the house and the 1st thing I noticed was a DeHaven FOR SALE sign on one side of the driveway and a DeHaven FOR RENT sign on the other.  My house was NOT for sale,  yet there was a sign advertising it for sale.
The 2nd thing I noticed was the garage door was open several inches.   The garage leads directly into the house.  The house was left totally unsecured and there was no one around.

I then noticed the 10X14 shed that was in the back yard, was gone, along with the dehumidifier missing in the house.   When I asked Craig "Where is my dehumidifier and hose that were to be left with the house? Where is my shed?"  His response was  "I think he took this too."   Craig expects me to believe a man who left all kinds of trash and belongings in the house, moved out of state, took my 10x14 shed with him?    When I asked  "What is being done to secure reimbursement from the tenant,  for the damage he did to the property?"  Craig responded "I dont know what we can do. I think he even stole the shed."

At that point I was done with DeHaven Real Estate.  I immediately called and told them I don't require their services anymore.  Gini DeHaven informed me that they needed to have it in writing.   I wrote it out, but they were closed by the time I tried to drop it off.  I dropped it off the next day.   I received 2 messages from Gini that morning saying they had a tenant who would not rent if she could not paint the living room light green and she had another place she would take if I didn't get back with her.  I called in the afternoon and they had signed the one year lease with the tenant I did not approve, and did not want, AFTER I told them I did not want their services any more.

They are very good about sticking to the lease when it is in their favor, but not good at all on aspects of the lease that are not in their favor.   They skipped getting pre-approval of tenants.  They skipped pre-approval of expenditures over $350.
The last statement I received in May, shows my account balance of $10.  The new tenant they rented to, after I told them I didn't need their services, paid $650 deposit and $650 rent.  DeHaven then issued checks to DeHaven that left my account at the $10 balance.  Apparently DeHaven "loaned" my account $10 so there wasn't a $0 balance.  The new tenants security deposit is not there.

I received a letter from them, dated May 27, 2014 that they have a "new branding" of DeHaven Property Management to Prime Property Management.  The staff, address and phone listed are  the same as DeHaven.  I still, as of 6/24/2014 have not received a statement this month.  Received statement 6/26/2014

    MKT MANAGEMENT
Maureen Tipple and Greg Craft are frauds.  They managed one home my girlfriend and I for the last year.  They blatantly committed fraud on multiple occasions in order to capture all of our rental income.  Over the last year we had full occupancy and took in $8,000 and they with their fraudulent "repairs" turned around and took $7,950.
They said that there was this thing or that thing that needed to be done.  But when I finally made the time to investigate all of these "repairs" nearly half of them had never even been done.  And these are major repairs like roof replacements!
When confronted they said "oh, it was done", you just don't know what you are talking about.  When brought photos they said stuff like, "he hired this other guy and I can't believe he did not do the work!  I will take care of that!"  They claimed that they would be sure that the work would get done, yet they have not made the repairs and they have refused to return the money.
Maureen and Greg sat down with me near their abrupt termination.  Anxiously I went to the bathroom and left a tape recorder at the table.  As I was at the bathroom they openly discussed how Maureen was going to control the situation in order to defraud us (my girlfriend was out of town).  At  that meeting they made promises like fixing the repairs that were not done, reimbursing us for repairs which were "billed to us but actually at a different home", and directly returning a trivial amount of money.
They literally fabricated thousands of dollars of repairs that were obviously never done and the only thing they have done to "make things right" is to right a $50 check from some other property owners account.

    JAQUA REALTORS
As a first-time home buyer, I needed a buyer's agent who could guide me through the process, answer all of my questions, and help me understand buying strategy, competitive market analysis, offer strategies, and so on. Kim was so wonderful to work with. She is so knowledgeable and helpful, but not pushy. She respected my choices and opinions, and after a few showings, anticipated what I would want to know and came prepared with info.
As we looked at house after house, even though I was buying a house on the lower end, she was responsive, answering my emails and calls promptly, and working hard to schedule appointments promptly. I would highly recommend Kim Bowers-Dow, and will definitely call her when I am ready to sell my house and buy another in the Kalamazoo County, or surrounding area.

    Inspired Home Real Estate
Jerry Joe Muyer of Inspired Home Real Estate came to rescue me. I was given her contact by a friend and I called her in church and she came over to my house, and I wanted to get rid of my house, she did an analysis of my house, she talked about what my house was worth and spent a huge amount of time with me. My husband had just passed and so I was full of grief. I have a 4 bedroomed house and it had been neglected for 4 years because of my husbands illness and just obvious issues and she came out and held my hand and walked me through some stuff and then later, about 9 months later, I called her again, I was thinking in terms of selling my house in the future  and wanted to have my deck fixed and again, she sent me pictures of what to do with my deck and I told her that time, that when I go to sell my house, I was definitely listing with her. I give her A+ for integrity, customer interest, she is there for her customers. She didn't charge me anything me anything. People could take advantage of me, and they could have ripped me off because of my situation, being newly widowed but she didn't charge me anything. I get the impression from the person who referred  her to me had said that she will work really hard for me and will work for me. She was leaving work when I called her and she came right over. Integrity and trustworthiness are my main thing and she has both.

We have been very specific in our needs for a house and she has been very receptive. We are very limited in the area that we wanted to look at and we wanted to stay in one school district. We were not willing to look at any other school district. We wanted at least 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and we had a very limited price range. She has been very good at showing us what is in our price range and not trying to push us out of our price range. When we wanted to look at a little higher price range, she asked if we really wanted to do that and if we really had the money to do it and if we were really comfortable doing that. She really wanted to make sure that we knew what we were doing when we looked at houses and that we were not getting ourselves in over our head. We would absolutely use her again.

    CENTURY 21
Aaron was fantastic throughout the whole process and we would highly recommend him to anyone purchasing or selling their home. We have had a few other realtors in the past and they led us to believe that it was an easy job because they didn't seem to do all that much much! Aaron was timely for all appointments and really took our feedback into account when offering us suggestions. It was obvious that he was working hard behind the scenes to make our selling and buying transactions not only acceptable to us but also favorable. He was never looking for quick decisions from us - he sincerely was fighting for us and didn't want to leave money on the table in any negotiations. While buying and selling, we ran into many stressful times (tough home inspection, township building codes and a baby that was ready to pop any second). Aaron could tell we were stressed and took care of everything and explained details to us in a way we could understand. I rarely write reviews but if you need a realtor give him a shot.
