    O'Neal's Odds and Ends
Prices were cheap, but don't let that fool you! These are knowledgeable professionals who went above and beyond for every job we hired then for. From finishing our basement, to cleaning our gutters, to building a privacy fence, O'Neals have been there for us when we needed them! If something wasn't done to our expectations, they always came back out and made it right! I will always call them first.

O'Neil's did a great job that was done very timely. They even went out of there way to do the work on the Monday before Thanksgiving even though they were scheduled to be off during that week. This made my tenant very happy.

He was right on time. Assessed the repair and gave my a very fair price. He then repaired the trim and checked the other trim and added additional nails where needed. I am very happy with the quality of the work and will definitely use their service in the future.

Every other builder that came out I explained that to them, and all they could come up with, was no, we will just have to level it and start over. When I called Brett out, he was the only builder who understood my vision. He understood that I wanted to save this part for expense reasons and then expand it out the other way. He said yea that's not a problem, we can do that. I was taken by his vision that he was able to understand what I wanted and then turn that into wood and nails. It turned out incredibly and it saved me at least $10000. He said yeah we could have done it by leveling it and starting over but it would have cost you a lot more.

Communication couldn't have been better. There were some minor glitches, he used some different materials but they were better materials. I called him on it and he said oh yeah you're right, we priced it on the other materials. He didn't charge me for the errors because he admitted they were errors that he made, but he refused to charge me for it. So from that standpoint, that kind of honesty is hard to come by. That was a $30000 project.

They are very prominent in Lansing. I couldn't have been happier the way things turned out. I was a little disappointed that they were not A rated. I don't always go by the ratings but I do read them. They did the project for me in 2006 and since then they have grown dramatically but the owner of the business still comes out to discuss any project. It is still run primarily by the one guy and he's always at the local home and garden shows and I always go there and I always reconnect with him. So I've certainly going to consider him for the bathroom job I'm going to do.

They did everything they said they were gonna do all through and since then I have recommended them to numerous people that were discussing building something. I've invited people over to look at his construction, to see it with their own eyes. I felt like I got a really good deal on it.

And again, I had multiple estimates and everybody else wanted to start from scratch and he was the only one who could do it. They almost had me convinced that it was not possible to do what I wanted to do and I might as well buckle down and start from scratch. But it saved a tremendous amount of money in concrete work and concrete is one of the largest contributors to a job like that.

It went great.  Their staff arrived promptly every day.  They were very professional and courteous.  There were easy to talk to and ask questions.  The quality of work was excellent.  I would definitely recommend them and I will probably hire them again in the future.

From beginning to end, everything went very well.  Kenny Dollins, the owner, was very professional - provided proof of insurance and current builder license with the estimate (didn't have to request it).  Kenny was very responsive to any questions or concerns.  The workers were clean-cut, polite, on time.  They worked efficiently - no cell phone use, no smoking, no wasting time.  The area was left practically spotless at  the end of each day.  The workers wore fall-safe equipment and were tied off as required by OSHA.  Everyone on the crew went above and beyond my expectations.  The final cost of the project was exactly as estimated.  I highly recommend Dollins Construction, Inc. for any construction project, including new homes.

We started this project over a year ago by getting estimates from several construction companies including Teachout Builders Inc. (TBI).  We were not looking forward to the project, having had some unhappy and frustrating past experiences with other construction companies.

This year, when we were ready to go ahead, we contacted TBI again - to review the work we wanted and to get an updated estimate.  We were very pleased when Taylor came out, went over everything and gave us an updated estimate within $200 of the estimate we'd received the year before.  We agreed on a price and Taylor delivered us with a contract that layed out everything to be done, the total price, the payment draws, and what TBI would deliver.
Our garage is very old.  We believe it was originally a two car garage converted at some point to a one and a half car.  The front wall was made from several doors poorly pieced together and fitted into the garage door frame.  The garage itself was visibly leaning to one side, and was also leaning forward.  It had a back extension that had a rotted roof and walls.  There were also a number of other structural and cosmetic issues.
Work began on the agreed upon date and progressed smoothly throughout the length of the job.  Every day the workers were on time and every day the work area was cleaned before they left.  Everyone was very polite, courteous and professional.  They were always willing to answer any questions we had at any point in the project and never treated us as if we were in the way or interrupting them.
Taylor's communication with us was exceptional.  He took the time to know what we wanted and did his best to make sure it was delivered.  He visited the site daily and each day there was at least one call from him with a progress update, scheduling of work or just to see if we were pleased with how things were going.  If we had any issues, we never had a problem getting in touch with him and he would have things corrected by the next day, if not sooner.  As with most things, we did run into snags.  However, each and everytime, we talked with Taylor and were able to get things resolved to our satisfaction.
Never was quality ever compromised - because of time or for more money.  The labor and materials were exceptional.  The restoration turned out fabulous.  It's much better than we had imagined and we couldn't be more pleased.  You would think we had a new garage rather than one that was renovated.
We are so very pleased with TBI and plan to use them for future work on our home.  We've even offered to be a reference for them if ever one is needed.

    Home Wreckers Construction Co
We had a kind of a unique problem, we live in an older home. The foundation in our garage had rotted. It could have fallen over. Most of the people that came over said that it could not be fixed, and said it would cost $13,000. Mike from Home Wreckers came over and said that he knew exactly what to do and that he had done it before. The others we called, were not licensed, and did not have insurance, and it was amazing to me how many people were shadey. This company came and did really good work, and his bid was approximately a third of the other bids. They showed up every day, worked all day, and got it done in a timely fashion. Mike saw the need for a drain that we needed because of a swimming pool really close to the garage, and it never even occurred to me. The guy is a genius. The men really work very hard. I really felt sorry for them. They were nice and fun. Now we have other work to do on our house and Mike is the one that is going to do it.

Jeff was recommended to us by a family member who had him build a sunroom addition.  We were told he was honest, capable and an all around nice guy.  We weren't disappointed.  One thing that we really appreciated about working with Jeff is that he's a good listener.  He was willing to take the time to hear how we wanted things done, and willing to discuss ideas and options when we were unsure.  Also, Jeff's crew was always great to have on the jobsite.  He only hires hardworking, capable men.

Building the workshop into the slope was a structural challenge, and it turned out great.  We've had no drainage issues or problems with walls settling or moving.  There has been no dampness inside the building.   We also wanted to save some money by using  windows we had.  This was not a problem with Jeff.  He was great to work with, and enabled us to use some other materials we had on hand.

Our house addition was a much larger project.  Again working with Jeff took a lot of the stress away.  We wanted to use SIPs panels and pre-formed concrete walls where possible.  Jeff and crew were knowledgeable and experienced.  One of our concerns was that the floors of the addition be level with the original house.  It took a lot of figuring and hard work, but the floors are level.  As the project developed it became apparent that a few modifications to our original plan were needed.  Again, Jeff listened to our concerns and helped us make good decisions.  When my wife insisted that a stairway be modified, he saw to it that she was happy with the final product.

Our last project was to add a deck.  Jeff worked with us to find materials that required little maintenance and still looked good.  He got prices from different suppliers in order to get us the best deal.  He suggested using 2 different colors of decking for a more interesting design.  It looks fabulous, and we couldn't be happier.

Besides being a knowledgeable and capable builder, Jeff is an nice guy.  There's never been any foul language on any of our jobs. We also appreciate that Jeff and crew are not smokers.   We recommend Teachout Builders without any reservations.
