AGreater Lansing Paint Company LLCThe team by far and away went above and beyond. They assisted with furniture moving both on the front and back end. They helped with color selection and were very accommodating on finishing the work before the deadline. On top of it all Ryan, Trudy and Chase worked around us as both of us work from home. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality company that does exactly and more than what they say they are going to do. Finally, the quality of their work was outstanding. We could not be happier.- Paul M.

AElieff Brothers Roofing IncI am very pleased with the results. The carpentry work by Yuji and Seth replacing the corbels/fascia/soffits was outstanding. They are skilled craftsmen (in addition to being very pleasant people) and the work was flawless! Before the existing pieces were rotted and made the place look neglected and now they have transformed it so it looks beautiful. Larry and his crew removed the old dilapidated roof and erected posts for a railing system, and fit the EPDM rubber roofing around them. I think the edges were particularly well done. The installed railings and made them fit and attached them solidly to the house such that I'm confident it will pass City inspection. The roof and railings look as they should and a good job was done, though it became a little protracted due to some delays. Finally, the gutter and downspout was installed and it was expertly done. I am so happy that the installer was able to fashion a downspout in a special custom way that didn't obstruct a passageway as I had thought would be necessary. It looks great and does the job to avoid damage due to leakage in my home as occurred without the gutter. After each step of the project, there was thorough clean-up. Steve Kinne, the sales representative, was amazingly diligent, patiently revising the quotes as necessary along the way when there were changes of plans. Plus, he couldn't be a nicer fellow and made arrangements for the cost to be discounted when it turned out that the corbels were not the rafter tails we had supposed they were, which was much appreciated. The total job came in at a little over $16,000 and I wouldn't have undertaken the project with Elieff if I wasn't absolutely convinced that there would be quality work, which I believed after Elieff did a perfect job on my main roof last year. I am a very satisfied customer and recommend the company highly!- Beth A.

ATeachout Builders Inc & Teachout Roofing IncI was really impressed with the project Throughout the entire process - from the estimates to completion. We knew we wanted a small deck built but Taylor was great at design and suggesting materials. Everyone who worked on the project was great. We ran into a pre-existing structural problem with a window. I was so impressed with how quickly it was addressed - I received a text that someone would be there to look at it first thing in the morning. The repairs were done the same day. I’m impressed that Teachout Builders stands behind its work and I’m looking forward to working with the company again soon.- Marcela W.

APrestige Landscape & Design LLCWe had our old deck torn down and had a cedar deck built in its place last fall to winter. Ben Navarro definitely takes pride in his work. He was punctual and came when he said he would. Despite challenges with the weather, the job was completed within a reasonable amount of time. We are very pleased with the attractiveness and quality of our deck. Ben even built the latticework himself. It was a pleasant surprise to us. We continue to receive compliments on the deck. After the job was finished, he came back for small adjustments.- Ellen R.

APrestige Landscape & Design LLCThe work was done in 2 consecutive days. The work appeares to have been done competently. A chain link fence that was in the way was removed and replaced at the end of the job. The jobsite was cleaned up and reseeded and covered with straw mulch.- william d.

AHubble ConstructionThe place is beautiful top to bottom. The quality of work is exceptional. I'm very happy with the choices made in the kitchen layout, the cabinets and fixtures along with the counter tops. I love the lighting they chose in the kitchen, too! The sun room is gorgeous and inviting. This is an older home and I appreciate how they preserved much of the historic qualities while still bringing it up to date and making it very comfortable to live in. The carpet, the wood flooring and the paint choices in every room are very tasteful, modern and easy to decorate around. I honestly couldn't be happier and I would recommend this company wholeheartedly. It is a family owned business and I felt like the attention they paid to details was very personal. They do really care that it's done right.- Betsy R.

AEsserbuildersIIWe hired Esser Builders ii (EBII) to do a large project back in the fall of 2019. We needed our driveway replaced, an outbuilding removed, large concrete steps demolished, a new covered deck entrance replaced on the side of our house, and a small multi-level deck & stairs to our backyard installed. Through the entire process, Esser Builders ii, and their owner Albert, have been wonderful. I cannot recommend highly enough this company and I am confident I will contract with them again for future projects. Here are some major facets of process that I think are valuable for prospective customers to know: 1) Bidding Process: With the exception of EBII, the other bids were vague and did not have a lot of detail – especially regarding what was included/excluded. EBII provided a very detailed bid that carefully laid out the work that would be done, the materials that would be used, and everything was included in the estimate. That is, when they price a project (e.g. a door), they don’t come back to you to ask for more $$ if they run into a problem. This happened on our job and it was worth it. Moreover, when the initial visit occurred, the owner Albert came to do the bid himself. He was knowledgeable and had good ideas about how to improve the project given our budget. No pressure or hard sell was applied. Their prices were somewhat higher than the other bids – but I have no regrets! 2) Communication: Whenever I have had questions about the project, such as the expected timeline, materials, or other details, the main office and/or Albert himself contacted me very quickly – often later the same day – even on weekends. I never once had trouble getting information or answers to my questions. This type of communication is comforting when you are spending a lot of money. 3) Flexibility: Part of our project overlapped with the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated business shutdowns. EBII’s workers worked within the law to complete our open project since it was unsafe if incomplete (i.e. dangerous drop-offs). They had the proper legal permissions and acted professionally throughout the period. In addition to the COVID-19 issues, EBII was also comfortable adjusting the project after we decided to do something slightly different regarding deck design as well as add a few odds and ends to the work. It was not a problem – they simply modified the bid slightly and added the modifications to the work. Easy-Peasy. 4) Follow-through: With any large project, often you notice a bit of stuff here or there where you think that a small repair is needed, or a detail was missed. It happens. What impressed me with EBII is that they are committed to making sure that their customers are satisfied. They are happy to send people back to your job and make things right. In other words, after they are paid, they still are happy to return free of charge to make sure the work is completed to the customer’s satisfaction. Laudable behavior. 5) Quality: The crews show up when they say they will and respect your property. I found the crew to be professional, courteous, and devoted to their work. Every day the site was cleaned up until the next day of work. Moreover, the products use in the construction and the quality/sturdiness of what is built is top notch. Our old deck was poorly constructed and falling apart. The new deck uses serious 4”x6” post construction in poured concrete with fine attention to detail (i.e., sanding corners so that everything is smooth, etc.). It is a major bummer to pay thousands of dollars for shoddy work – I have had that happen earlier in my life. It is nice to see the opposite with EBII – especially when you know that they stand behind their work long after the end date of the build. All in all, you can’t go wrong with Esser Builders ii. They are competent, professional, fair, honest, and respectful. This was my first experience with Albert & EBII – and I know that I won’t be the last.- Darren M.

AEsserbuildersIIAl was very informative regarding my botched roof from a previous "roofer", and was great to work with. I eventually needed to replace my deck also due to safety issues, so I contacted Al again. Once my deck installation began, I was thrilled to see the results! His staff Chase and Aaron were professional and personable, very respectful and insightful of my requests. Al and his staff are great people to work with. I would definitely hire him and his crew again for any upcoming home improvement projects that I have. Thanks Al and Erika!!!- Terri T.

CIt isn't done yet, but the construction manager is not being cooperative about some details that are very important to us. His comments on the material and timing for staining the deck are not consistent with information from lumber experts I know.

FMy experience with Lyster was awful! I called them for an estimate for a new roof after a recent hail storm, and, the receptionist said that they were very busy (she claimed they'd received 400 phone calls). She said it would be a few days before anyone got back to me. After a week of waiting, I followed up, and, the same woman said she would have someone follow up. A day later I received a call from a representative (Donte) and we scheduled an appointment. Donte promptly arrived, but made no effort to announce he'd arrived for our appointment. I heard him get up on a section of our roof and then he was back down and leaving within minutes. My wife and I went to the front yard and hailed him, and, when he pulled back in, he informed us that he saw no hail damage. I asked him for an estimate SIX TIMES so that we could talk with our insurance company, and determine our options for purchasing a new roof. Each time, he cited that an insurance company would likely not find damage suitable for coverage, and, I explained that we still would like the estimate to assess paying for it ourselves. I finally lost my temper after this sixth attempt and used an expletive while conveying my frustration with him. At which time he left. I understand that the insurance company may, or, may not cover some or all of the replacement value. What I don't understand is why anyone would waste their time, and ours, coming out and then, not bothering to communicate with us, measure up the roof, offer an estimate in an effort to earn our business? EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND FRUSTRATING!

Recent Review:
DDisappointed for a second time with a small fence installation. The first time it was installed the boards warped in a matter of weeks. They offered to redo the fence and I opted to pay more for a higher quality wood. These things happen, so no worries up to this point. The second install appeared rush, as you can see from the pictures, the top of the boards are not level across, as if no level line was used. The middle support on the back is very slanted. The board on the front with the latch was also installed crooked. Why? All these things I was willing to overlook just to be done with it. But now, a few months later, all the staples they used to install the fence are bleeding down onto the wood and it is quite an eyesore. So it appears the wrong staples were used for the application. A quick google search taught me that for cedar fences, use stainless steel, aluminum or polymer-coated fasteners. Don’t use galvanized steel – the zinc in the fasteners may react with the acids in the cedar and create corrosion streaks. So what now? I guess I have to spend hundreds more and buy the tools and materials to do it again myself next year. Very upsetting...
