    Mike's Computer Repair
Mike did a great job. He was quick to respond to my initial email. Was on time. Walked me through everything. And go my 4-year-old computer tuned up, which will help it run another year or two. This is the second time I have used him (the last time was about 4 years ago with different computer). As an added bonus, unlike some folks out there who when they get your email address, you are hit with weekly marketing emails that the like, he doesn't do that. I get a few emails throughout the year from him, but he is not blowing up my inbox, which I appreciate. His rate was $55 for the service and when he found a lot of malware, gave me the option of running a full scan to cleaning it up even more for an additional rate (said it was up to me, and he said my computer seemed to be running fine so it was not necessary, but my choice... I figured since we had already begun, might as well). In all, it took about 3 hours (the $55 was for 1 hour) and I was charged $130. I greatly appreciated his professionalism, transparency, knowledge and skill.

Took it to Best Buy geeks first, wanted $179. to fix, no guarantee they could. Then to Staples tech, $159., no charge if they couldn't fix. They couldn't figure it out. Both places suspected motherboard, & with a Vista computer, it wouldn't be worth putting money into it (my call). Was practically resigned to buying a new computer, but had seen some good reviews of Vertex on Angie's, so gave them a try. Tech immediately noticed a bad cap (why didn't the other guys?), & said they charged $59.95 to diagnose, $89.95 total if it was only the cap. Thought, what-the-heck, $60. bucks to know for sure if I needed a new computer. Why not. Later they called to say they found a bad power supply, $120. total to fix (included the diagnostic fee, installing new power supply, & he threw in the cap for free). So, I didn't NEED to buy a new computer! Was very happy all around with the service & experience. Felt I could trust these guys.

    Mike's Computer Repair
It was good. He solved my problem in less than an hour and so he invited me to call back for another problem and he would help me out with it. He is very knowledgeable and I think he did what he advertised he was going to do. The price was okay. He identified a specific time that would work for him and me and we agreed upon the time when we had an undisturbed hour.

    Mike's Computer Repair

I purchased the $55 deal from Angie's List for one hour of service.  Shortly after making my purchase, Mike called to set up a time to remotely connect to my computer, and sent an email containing information how he would connect.

On the scheduled day, Mike called about 10 minutes early to see if I was ready, which I was.  He was very nice and professional over the phone.  In my opinion, he connected to and perused my computer rather quickly.  We went over some programs that weren't needed, which he removed.  I watched part of the time while he ran several programs to root out malicious files on my computer.  I've run malware software on my computer before, and know it takes a while to completely scan all my files.  So it wasn't a surprise when Mike informed me approximately 40 minutes into the first one hour session, that his various programs would take over an hour to complete.  After seeing all the suspicious files his software discovered, which mine did not, I gladly paid the additional $85 for the 2nd plus hour.

Mike also provided suggestions for enhanced security and answered my questions.  I don't consider myself technically savvy, and Mike never made me feel stupid in front of my computer.

I can definitely tell various computer programs are running much faster.

    Computer Redicare
Provider advertises operating hours 11am to 8pm. When I showed up some time around 4pm at the address provided 3364 Lake Lansing rd. in East Lansing,MI was a resident with several recreational vehicles in the driveway and a small sign indicating computer repair. There was no one home, so I called the phone number listed and the gentleman on the other line indicated that he was at lunch and that he may return in an hour to an hour an half. Very unprofessional attitude and did not seem like he wanted to be bothered. I would suggest advertising and quot;by APPOINTMENT ONLYand quot; since in reality operating hours are flexible to his advantage. I would not recommend this business to anyone on a professional basis.

The provider had to trouble-shoot my laptop problems over the phone (different state) and had to overcome countless obstacles just to get in to see my screen.  He was knowledgeable about different tools in IE, Firefox, and Chrome (probably more, but those are all the browsers I have downloaded on my machine) and talked me through several processes to get so he could do the work himself.  Friendly, thorough, and did much more than $59 worth of work, in my opinion.

This is not my first experience with Vertex and I should have written something before this.
This service was completed from the time I brought my PC in at 10 am to 5 pm the same day.
But, over the weekend my desktop PC failed to boot up, even though my primary drive is a Solid State drive.
That means, I had no access to anything on that drive, to back up or save or anything.
Vertex RESCUED my failed Sold State boot Drive in my primary PC and were able to move everything to a new drive so that my complete OS and all preferences and favorites and settings are EXACTLY the same as they were the minute before my drive failed.

At first they hooked it up to various and quot;machinesand quot; and couldn't even see that my disk and quot;existedand quot;! But ----They kept trying. After about 4 or 5 different and quot;machinesand quot; to hook it up to it was recognized. From there they could not only retrieve the information on that drive but also move it to a new boot drive that would duplicate everything, every setting, every favorite, every little tweek I had ever done, so that my reunion with my computer was completely seamless.
Most of the other services available around here would have tried once or twice and said I was and quot;out of luckand quot; and then replaced the drive, but would have caused me months of trying to recover lost settings and passwords, etc. (I keep my data on other drives so I was fine with pictures, records, etc.)
I have had past experiences with Vertex over the past 4 years and they have been brilliant.
Once, my computer that was a Win7 OS started to boot in XP. Really??!! They fixed that
Once, I needed to update my whole system and I brought them my box and they rebuilt the whole thing, saving the parts that were still good. Brilliant and Beautiful.
Do they cost more than other services?? I think they do a little bit, but it is worth every penny to me knowing I will get skilled and intelligent top of the line service. If you don't want that, go to someone cheaper.
I have average to above technical knowledge (at least for my age group). I have built my own computer in the past but I don't work in the IT field and often need help . I have gone to some of the chain stores when I had a problem and tried to get some help for things I didn't know how to fix. I know enough to know when and quot;theyand quot; don't know what they are doing. These guys at Vertex know what they are doing...
I refer everyone who asks me about fixing a computer to this group at Vertex.
CONS: I read some other reviews, not all here on Angie's List, and heard that people felt they were rude or unfriendly. Here's the deal: these guys are computer experts, not social workers. One or two of them might not make smiling and small talk a regular practice and instead just converse with you about the technical things and just speak practical. I recommend that you celebrate their expertise and get over the rest for the sake of your computer (have you ever watched Big Bang Theory) and realize that you are there to get the best help in town for your technology.
Would you complain if you had a brilliant doctor that saved your life but was a bit impersonal, or would you wish you had the warm and fuzzy doctor that helped you feel good while you got sicker and maybe died?
I will ALWAYS take my computer needs to Vertex and trust their business.

    Alexander Technical Resources
After reading the reviews about Alexander Tech Resources I went to their web page and saw where you could call first and ask questions. So I did and spoke with Donna. Donna was so awesome!!!!   After telling her about my computer problems and asking if the clean up 'special' being offered would help me she asked me a few questions- ie = date I purchased it, model number, memory and RAM etc. She then went on to expain to me that it might help for a little while but to be really honest my computer was on the verge of being obsolete.  ( it's a PC=Dell XPS 400) and xp programs will no longer be supported as of 4-2014 and I really need more of the RAM now days.  I explained that I feel so illiterate when it comes to computer technology and she has been one of the few people I have worked with that has not made me feel like a fool because of it.  I asked her for suggestions as to the type of computer and what I should look for when buying one.  She was so so knowledgeable, understanding, honest, patient and   kind. Didn't make me feel like an idiot at all. Allowed me to write down everything she was expaining and repeated and/or explained in more detail (laymens terms) what I didn't  understand. Loved speaking with her.  I will call her back again when I finally decide on a new computer as I'm still not sure as to the progams I need.  Would highly recommend working with ATR especially if you can work with Donna. Because of this interaction I would definitey consider calling them for any tech support that I may need in the future.

VerThey took my poor, dead gaming PC and not only fixed it for a reasonable price, they gave me good info for upgrading it to run some newer games that I wanted to play. They kept me informed all along the way. I couldn't be happier.
