Overall the job was well done and at a fair a price. All the corners were meticulously mitered and matched using aluminum. The siding was vinyl that looked like cedar shakes which required more attention to detail when matching panels. New gutters were created and hung using sturdy anchors. The job took several days to complete, but overall I'm very happy with the craftsmanship. Looks like a brand new house!

The job was done very thoroughly and the roof and gutters look great.  Despite my having gutter guards, needles, leaves and debris collect on top of the gutter guards and frequently caused blockages, especially in the winter when water freezes and causes ice jams.  We discussed this when I scheduled the work, and he was fine with this set up.

I gave them an overall "B" because of their responsiveness and the fact that they left the roof debris on the ground of my yard where they blew or swept it off (I didn't see the gutter waste so I'm assuming they took that stuff with them in some manner - would have been nice if they would have taken the needles and roof debris that they swept off the roof, as well).  As for their responsiveness, when I purchased the 'deal', the claim said I would be contacted within 48 hrs.  It was between 1 and 2 weeks (I can't recall the specific time) before I was contacted, and the scheduled date was for 1 month after I purchased the deal.  On the scheduled date, the man came promptly at our agreed time, and asked if he could come back that afternoon after the dew had cleared from the roof.  I readily agreed (safety first) and made sure I arranged my work day to be home at our newly agreed time - he never showed. More importantly, I never received a call nor any kind of communication.  I called that night and the next morning - no response, except he and a co-worker showed up the next afternoon.  Although he readily apologized, I would have expected at least a call, as I had rearranged my day/work around his requests, and never received a courtesy call.

Unfortunately, I was unable to be at my home when they showed up to do the work.  As I said, however, the job appeared to be done very well and thoroughly and I'm happy with the quality of their work.

1st appointment was to confirm work fell into their $99 Angie's List special.  2nd appointment to do the work was missed due to truck malfunction.  Also was supposed to be there between 9 and 1 and did not call to tell us of delay until after 2 pm.  3rd appointment work completed satisfactorily.

The insurance covered it.  It was bad hail damage. They were kind of working in waves because everybody had all this damage.  They came in, did all the roofs, then it took a little bit longer, then they came through and did all the siding. It was a bunch of jobs. As work goes at the house it took them 3 or 4 days maybe.

Bob and his uncle did an outstanding job. Highly recommend. I am a home inspector and not the easiest person to work for and they impressed me with their experience and quality workmanship. You don't find a lot of contractors like these guys.

The provider came to my house multiple times to slowly remove ice dam during EXTREME cold. Installed the coils during the same extreme cold. Only issue I had at all was that there was some gap in communication due to my project manager being on vacation during installation. Also, didn't make it clear on estimate and bill if the purchased deal from Angie's List was applied. I had to call to clarify.

Shane inspected the roof shingles, informed us of what looked like old minor hail damage, checked caulking and re-caulked where needed, inspected vents and replaced one that was badly cracked (for an additional charge). After he had gone, I noticed a small stain on a bedroom ceiling and called back the next week, Shane came back out and crawled up in to the attic to inspect what appeared to be an old leak stain from probably snow build-up during last year's heavy snows. We'll keep an eye on that part of the roof and the ceiling. He answered many questions about the roof (doesn't need to be replaced at this time), about the vents (had problems last year from snow build-up) and the old leak and probably cause.

We were awarded an insurance claim for hail damage from the April hail storm in Lake Orion. It took me a full month to research all the roofing contractors here on Angie's List, as well learn as much as I could about Owens Corning, GAF and Certainteed. I had multiple contractors come to my house to review what they offered. Every single contractor offered similar quality shingles and comparable manufacturer's warranties. However, Roof-Rite rose to the top for many reasons:
    1) They offered slightly higher-end shingles right from the start without additional cost. All other contractors offered budget-level architectural shingles (which are still decent). This was easy to determine simply by visiting the Wimsatt site. Shingles were categorized from best to worst as either Premium, Designer or Budget.
    2) They employed local roofers that have worked with the company for many years. Their roofers were not seasonal workers nor were they storm-chasers. All their license plates were from Michigan and they all spoke English.
    3) There was no hard sell at the initial meeting asking for signature to kick off the process. At least two other contractors pushed a signature to kick things off. Chet Simpson did not. He was extremely patient with me for over a month.
    4) Chet Simpson was available 100% of the time and answered all my calls and texts without delay. I really felt like I was his only customer. He was very accommodating and answered every question I had about shingles and specifics about the job. He went above and beyond.
Overall, it was delightful working with Chet Simpson and Roof-Rite. I would highly recommend Roof-Rite to anybody looking for roof and gutters.

    Precision Gutters
The contractor was really busy so it took him a couple of weeks to get to my house but he did keep in contact with me that he would come by which he did 3 weeks later. Again he confirmed my gutters were a custom color and he would have to do some research to find a match. Again it took a while but he did eventually send me samples which I was able to pick the color that matched the existing gutters.  Once he orders the material it took a week to get the material and complete the job. He did a excellent job, very thing looks good. He cleaned up the sight and you would never know it was replaced. Very happy with the job even know it took a while but that was expected due to the custom color on my house.

I was initially quite happy and paid him more than he quoted (he quoted $12/hr. and I always paid him $15/hr.)  We worked on small and large projects for about 2 weeks and I still had more on the summer to-do list, and hoped to keep him happy with steady work & income. He got calls for quoting other jobs and needed to build his clients, and I was glad for him, and he promised he would be back in a week or so to keep working on my list.  Over a month went by and it was hard getting a hold of him.  When I did finally speak to him, he said he could only give me 1 or 2 days next week.  When he arrived, I realized we would have to re-power wash the deck on day 1, (he had already done this & was paid for it just before he 'disappeared') let dry, and paint it the next day since the weather report said no rain the next 2-3 days.  So I apologized for not thinking of it sooner and asked him if he'd mind getting his power washer (on the 'clock" plus $10 for gas as he lives 20 min. away) while I went & purchased 'deck over' paint and brushes.  I also picked up a couple burgers in case he hadn't eaten, as I always tried to feed him too.  At the end of the day, I showed him the brushes and he said he was fussy and would rather pick the brushes himself (I'd tried calling him from the hardware about brushes but got voice mail).  So I gave him the brushes & receipt and the plan was he'd exchange them for what he wanted (I'd pay for his time there too) and he would be here very early (his preference) the next morning.

I was up at 7am and when I hadn't seen or heard from him by 10:30 I called to see if everything was all right.  He said he was in my driveway at 7:30am and the radio said it might rain, so even though I had pre-arranged with him about other chores to do, he left.   He verbally abused me, accusing me of intentionally giving him a receipt that I had paid for with a credit card so I wouldn't have to pay for the brushes!  I apologized for not remembering I'd paid with a cc and thinking they'd just do an exchange for him, my bad, and of course I would reimburse him the $11 for the brush he paid for out of pocket.   I was trying to ask what would be a good day to come back and do the deck, but he turned belligerent and accused me of lying about the weather report, about being up early, even saying my apology was a lie, insisting that the credit card receipt thing was intentional... and something about the Burger King I got him for lunch even got warped into me doing something bad, but I couldn't understand what he meant on that one.  When he did let me talk, he kept twisting my words before I finished a sentence and then arguing over and above me trying to defend myself which was very bizarre and frustrating almost to the point of tears.  I tried to stay calm and on point, but it escalated when I said he should have communicated to me that he wasn't coming that morning. He yelled loudly that I've told him not to call me too early.  He has a cell, but doesn't use text, so  I said if you couldn't send me a text, you could have left me a note, or called me after 8 or 8:30am (my normal time - I work nights) and he really blew up.  He just argued and argued and argued and I could barely get in a word.  I think he wanted me to fire him - maybe he had higher paying projects in the works and when I said "I just want you to complete the deck project" he said "You can do yourself, I'm NOT doing it!"  So I said ?F? you? and hung up.  If he was making better money elsewhere, good for him, but I thought I was more than fair and easy to work with by paying him more than originally agreed upon and he  could have just let me know that he wanted a 'per project' price rather than the $15/hr. and I would have considered it. He didn?t have to insult, anger and upset me!  It was a very bad experience.  I'm a single woman, so he might be more professional when dealing with men.
