    H & H services LLC

they were prompt and even started earlier than anticipated.   They had all work done and the only delay was waiting for the
    windows to be delivered.

Ron was very helpful in the planning and had no problem with a few minor changes.  He was very nice to talk to and gave us

a lot of good advice on our part of the completion.

    Harder Construction LLC
A co-worker raved about the wonderful builder he had complete his custom house.  The coworker could not say enough positive things about Bruce Harder and the people who worked for him, so I contacted him.
Because of the housing slow-down, Bruce Harder was willing to finish our basement.  He was cost competitive compared to the 2 other bids we received, and was willing to put in custom feature that the others wouldn't:  curved "stage" in our entertainment room, custom fireplace mantel, and custom cabinets.
It has been 2 years since the work was completed, and we are very happy with the quality and durability of the work completed.  Since then, I have recommended Bruce Harder to 2 other people.  They had both seen our basement and were impressed.  One had a basement finished and the other had a custom house built.  Both were very happy with the work done.

    Balahoski Builders
Kendra Balahoski came first to get measurements for estimates for windows, flooring, and a basement shower, and to work up design ideas for a new deck and give estimates for that.  She also offered very helpful ideas for how to resolve some flooring issues -- we have an open floor plan and so figuring out where to end one floor and start another can take some creativity.  Kendra's suggestions were excellent.

The prices were very reasonable, especially for the windows -- we had expected to pay more.  Soon after we agreed to have the windows and the basement shower done, Dave Balahoski had the new windows here and began installation.  These are big quality double-hung windows, and the holes required some finessing to get them in.  Dave handled the siding removal and re-install and the window installation with no problem -- the windows look great both inside and out.

Then work began on the basement shower -- once he opened up the space, he realized he could design the shower to make the most of the space and include a shower seat.  He knew we wanted to tile the shower ourselves to save money -- he asked if we were up to putting in the shower pan and the concrete floor slightly sloped to the drain.  Once he described the process, we knew it would require more finesse than we felt sure about.  We asked him to do that and it was no problem.  He worked long hours for a week to get everything done.  He opened up the concrete floor to place the drain correctly; patched the floor; framed the shower, seat, and bulkhead to conceal a standpipe, installed a light and vent fan; then sealed up the shower with cementboard and poured the floor to drain correctly.  (He displays an incredible mastery of concrete!

Dave was efficient, hard-working, friendly, easy to work with, very knowledgeable, and affordable on top of all that.  We were so impressed!

    Pillar Construction LLC
Larry consulted with us several times in the design and estimating phase, gave us great ideas, and was very responsive at solving every issue we brought up. For example, our neighbor's house had its basement wall buckle inward due to the heavy clay soil and our hillside location putting higher than normal hydrostatic pressure on the wall. Larry designed our project with a thicker concrete wall and a mid-wall pier for extra structural strength, without adding big money to the bill. Another example: our kitchen would now be darker without an outside window and sliding patio doors, so Larry suggested a light tube to bring sunlight into the kitchen/dining area, now an and quot;interior roomand quot;, and we had him add a 24and quot;x36and quot; skylight in the addition to keep the whole place bright with daylight.

All permits and inspections were included, all excavation and contracting, all project management, and even a built-in gas fireplace in the family/entertainment room were included. We have thoroughly enjoyed living in our bigger house for five years. A year after the project was complete, the skylight in the addition leaked small rivulets during a heavy storm. Larry came out the following day and inspected the problem, then consulted the manufacturer, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. No arguments, just good service and doing the right thing.

Since that experience, we have hired Pillar again several times, for projects like interior painting, remodeling our master bath and bedroom after a plumbing failure did extensive damage, and smaller and quot;handymanand quot; type things. We have referred him to friends who have had both big and small jobs, and he has won praise from them as well. Very stand up folks to do business with. Very trustworthy.
