    College Works Painting Michigan
Nick was very professional from beginning of quoting a price to the completion of the job. His staff was friendly and worked hard each day. Once price was determined Nick provide samples of colors I could choose from. A date was picked and he and his crew showed up on time and started the work. At the end of work day the area was cleaned up and equipment set aside out of view and way. The project was delayed because of rain one day and was completed the next day. Time was spent with me reviewing the work completed. Any flaws I saw were corrected immediately. Once I was fully satisfied payment was requested.

Contractor's work was excellent! Paid attention to detail and stayed within quoted budget.  When additional work was needed to be performed that was not anticipated, he was fair with the price and performed the work to the highest standards in the industry.

The actual installation went fine. Our problems are with the customer service following installation. We discovered that one window had a failed seal and contacted them for a replacement, which was ordered. This was inJanuary. When the window finally came in, they did not call us--we had to call them to find out it was delivered broken, it was re-ordered. We did not hear anything for weeks, and our second call revealed that the second window ordered did not show up because it did not pass inspection. Third call--Weeks later an installer came out to replace the window to discover that the wrong size had been ordered. Fourth call revealed that the window had come in, but it was the wrong color. The fifth call this past week (it is now mid-April) reveals that somehow, it was not on the delivery truck. The office told us that they would call us back when they figured out the situation, but we have heard nothing. We have always had to be the one initiating the phone calls and pressing for information--Avalon has not been the one to contact us anywhere in this process. The initial service was fine, but you'd better hope you don't have any problems afterward!

The bottom of the door was not lining up to the floor, but Avalon fixed that with the new door. The guys all got it done quicker than I thought they they would. We went with Avalon because they did such a good job with our roof before.

    Window World Of West Michigan
I am extremely disappointed with the sales person and the company. The sales person came to my house, I selected a door, and paid a deposit. Beforehand, however, I made a point of telling him that I wanted the door installed before winter set in, meaning speed was important. During his sales pitch, he gave me a form where he had added "Waive Cancellation." He said that if I didn't waive my right to a 3-day cancellation, that they could not "start" the ordering process until after the 3-day period, so I signed. As he left, he said that the "owner" would be out the same day to measure the space and they would order the door. When nobody came the same or next day, I called WINDOW WORLD OF WEST MICHIGAN was told that I "misunderstood" and was "confused" regarding when the space would be measured. I most definitely did not "misunderstand" although I certainly understand why they are sticking to that defense. Consequently, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding WINDOW WORLD OF WEST MICHIGAN'S unethical practice of "encouraging" a customer to waive their right to cancel. The door was ridiculously expensive anyway and if I had not waived my right I definitely would have cancelled.

It would be a leak around the base/flashing of a whirly-bird style roof vent in my garage roof that prompted this project. The house roof vents were fine when I inspected them but...AVALON Building Concepts has long been a highly regardedtrusted and visiblearea provider. So, who ya gonna call? Initially I needed a re-roof but the peak/eve vent system, as presented, made good sense. Projectwent great -according to my watchful next door neighbor (I had to be out of town on the date the work was performed). How great? The neighbor contacted AVALON/Rick to arrange to have THEIR house re-shingled.

Back home I was pleased with the finished product.Especially the clean-up. When I wore a tad younger mans clothsI'd helped a few friends with theirtear-off androof re-shingles. I KNOW what a mess we'd make -probably the most fun of re-roofing. The clean-up after, not so much!

The peak/eve vent system works`as advertised'. No roof ice build up (NICE) but... the change in the attitude(and `altitude')of the evesto the existing eve trough/gutters was problematic. When itraineda number of the windows would have water running down them enroute to the `pitter/patter' (pounding sometimes)on the aluminum outer window ledges. There was only so much of listening to the `rhythm of the rain' I could stand. Also, during `spirited' rains, enough run off cleared the eve troughs (entirely) thatthe lawn below began to form anoticeable erosion `line'. I observedtheseanomalies a few times in hopes of being able to describe themto Rick before I called him.

It may have been the same day I phoned(if not, certainly the next) that Rick and one of their top nail gun wielding, aluminum bending, ladder climbing surgeons visited and inspected `things'. A plan was devised/implemented to eliminate the water between the eves and eve troughs the same day. There would be no charge for this `fix'. Nor would Rick entertain my offer of `something' towards the materials/labor expended. Nope.

Specificto the `rain' that would `go-long' of theeve troughs... even if this condition didn't exist,a new eve trough/gutter system was desirable. Too,an exteriorhouse painting. Perhaps siding the house versus painting. I was provided costs for these services and took them under advisement. AVALON stayed in touch (follow-ups) for these SIX YEARS since the re-roof (when I take things under advisement -I take them under ADVISEMENT).

Few reasons prompted my recently subscribingto Angie's list. Tree service; eves/gutters; house painting -orsiding.I've already decided on a tree service provider and have re-established commswith AVALON.

In conclusion (you still awake?) roof peak and eve vent system, two thumbs up here in the snow belt; be mindful of the change in eve attitude if you employ a roof eve/gutter system. AVALON, two thumbs up. Tree service pending. Stay tuned..??

Installer drilled and installed hinges and handles on four door slabs and hung on existing frames.  Work was done in a reasonable amount of time.  We were very satisified with the finished product.

    Bob's Complete Construction, Inc

Bob was excellent!  He did everything from replacing the door (which needed to be cut down to size) to stabilizing two stair rails to installing woodwork.  He hung several heavy objects for me in the living room and moved the toilet so that I could finish papering the bathroom.  When he replaced it, he did a proper job of re-installing it - something the floor installers did NOT do.

Bob did a terrific job on everything.  He is very skilled and can repair just about anything that needs it.  He was prompt and handled everything (even unexpected problems with the door frame) with ease. I will definitely hire him again!

    Jacobsen Remodeling Inc
.. We previous had experience with Dwight Jacobsen (Jacobsen Remodeling, Inc) as he completely remodeled our kitchen a few years back. The result was fantastic. We contacted Dwight again, knowing we would receive the fairest , best quality, and timeliest workmanship available.
In June 2011, I drew a preliminary plan for the addition, based on our requirements. We met with Dwight & his selected Designer and discussed the project. A few changes were made for the handicap rooms and by early July we had  the building permit and the work began.
The excavators came first  & dug the space for the foundation & crawkspace. By mid July the concrete foundation & crawlspace were poured & completed. The rough-in carpenters & roofers came next, completing the outside walls, interior rafters, and roof by late July. Insulation was applied on the roof interiors, the inside wall interiors, the foundation inside walls by early August. The plumbing, and heating ducts were roughed-in by early August, as was the electrical wiring & outlets. The dry-walls were installed about the second week of August, then the handicap shower and cabinet installed in the bathroom. Following that, the base cabinet for the laundry was installed. The finish work on the dry-walls was completed the next week.Outside vinyl siding was completed by mid August. Finish carpenters began installing doors, wood molding, sinks and commode by mid August. Plumbing and heating was completed at that time too.
The painters began on the walls, doors and molding, doing a great job with the stain, completing everything by mid to late August. The carpet and vinyl flooring was installed in early September. We had the upright freezer, washer & dryer moved from the basement into the laundry room at that time.
The township inspectors issued the final approval to occuply, and we moved into the new addition.
Dwight Jacobsen managed this project with great skill. He was present during each phase and workday, directing the work and suggesting better ways to accomplish the job being done.
All the work crews displayed a great knowledge of trheir craft. The addition was a beautiful success because of them, an d Dwight's supervision. Last,  but not least, this project is "Grandma Approved".
