    RiverTown Honda
What we like most is their professionalism. It doesn't take a while for us to get in. Their waiting room is very pleasing. They offer popcorn, water, coffee. They have a TV on so we can watch TV. They do offer transportation while our car is there, but we don't use it. My husband will typically put his bike in the back of the truck and then ride his bike home. We've had favorable communication with their staff. They're a little bit pricier.

    KROHNS AUTO SERVICE INC
The vehicle drove fine and was dropped off for an early afternoon inspection appointment. Due to work schedules, we made arrangements to pick up the vehicle shortly after 5 PM closing time. I called Krohn's Auto Service in Grand Haven, MI, late afternoon to verify the pickup plan. I was informed the vehicle was ready. When inquiring about arrangements for payment for services, along with associated paperwork, I was told the inspection was free of charge and there was no paperwork. This was a RED FLAG. We arrived after closing with the key left in the car. After starting the vehicle and attempting to drive it from the lot, the car began a series of the transmission not engaging when pressing the gas pedal coupled with subsequent violent jerking motions. We were barely able to make the 5 mile trip home. The next morning, the vehicle transmission did not function at all and had to be towed to a transmission specialist shop. I called Krohn's Auto Service in Grand Haven, MI. I communicated the new problems we were experiencing since taking our vehicle to their garage. The issue was no longer an occasional transmission slipping but was now a non-functional transmission making the vehicle was no longer drivable. Krohn's Auto Service in Grand Haven, MI, told me they only did a 'drive test' and nothing else ( recall there was no paperwork provided or cost associated with my service). Their recommendation was to take the vehicle to a transmission specialist. We ended up having the transmission completely replaced by a transmission shop at a cost of ~$3200. Based on my negative experience with Krohn's Auto Service in Grand Haven, MI, I will NOT entrust them with any of my vehicles nor recommend their service to anyone.

    JAMESTOWN AUTOMOTIVE INC
They did a good job and fair price.  What I didn't like is they were eager to keep you car in brand new condition, so it seemed to me the list of other items recommended was over kill.  The place I use now isn't alarmest - just keep it running.  He didn't have the same recommendations & I didn't have any problems.

BOB & JEFF'S AUTO REPAIR INC
My car battery was completely dead - I couldn't even remove the key.  Jeff loaned me long jumper cables so I could jump it. Found the that a bad motor in rear wiper drained battery (it never completed a cycle).  Disconnected rear wiper at my request, tested and replaced battery (it was an OEM batter of 5 + years).  He was able to get it done as an emergency in the same day.  Excellent service.  I have used Jeff for many repairs - oil changes, breaks, water pumps, etc. - all excellent service and competitive prices.

    Bob's Transmissions of West Michigan

I was referred to Bob's Transmission (Hudsonville) by our longtime mechanic Ron, from Rosewood Auto Service in Jenison.

From the initial inquiry phone call to Bob's Transmission in Hudsonville through completion of transmission replacement, the service and quality of work was phenomenal - I couldn't be happier.

In most instances when I seek a service, I perform extensive due diligence before making contact. My first steps are reviews on Angie's List and other sources via Google. Once I make contact, key things I then look for include courtesy, openness, and a detailed overview of a process itself. In this case, I received all three during my initial phone call inquiry. Jamie at Bob's Transmission (Hudsonville) was extremely courteous and open - he carefully explained the entire process. I don't think it couldn't have been much easier. It was crystal clear Bob's Transmission had a well thought out, and incremental  'no pressure' process.

    • The vehicle was non-functional due to transmission failure. As a first step, Jamie offered to have it towed (about 30 miles) at no charge for a free estimate. This assumed verification of a transmission issue, and agreement to ultimately have it repaired, rebuilt, or replaced at Bob's Transmission. After the free inspection, if it was decided not to move forward, I'd then be responsible only for the towing fee. To me, this was extremely low risk and came with 'no pressure'.

Next, once diagnosed as transmission failure, Jamie provided an estimate, carefully laid out a repair plan, with options, and a timeline. Upon alignment on a transmission replacement plan, Bob's required 50% down payment to cover cost of parts and assure commitment to the repair (once ordered, parts cannot be returned).

It was estimated the parts would take about 1-2 days for delivery and an additional 1-2 days for replacement. I was anticipating completion of the work on a Thursday, and was pleasantly surprised to receive a call 2 days early that the work was complete! We picked up the vehicle, paid the remaining balance, and were on our way!

Another key element I look for in a business is how they respond when unforeseen issues arise. We experienced a minor leak the first week of driving the vehicle. I called Jamie and he immediately got us in for an assessment. The issue was  diagnosed as a bad seal (unrelated to the transmission installation). The new seal was immediately ordered and replaced at no charge!

My compliments to Jamie, and the mechanics at Bob's Transmission in Hudsonville. A job well done! Highly recommended!

    Dykstra's Auto Service Airport
We dropped our car off on our way out of town at the airport location. Since we live in Hudsonville we usually have all our service performed there, but this was a convenient way to get it done while we were gone. Not only did they do an excellent job on service as always, they were very helpful in scheduling shuttle service to and from the airport.

I had several bids for this job and I have used these guys before many times and have drove away not only with a happy car but a happy wallet. These guys do a wonderful honest job. They have mechanics that explain in lay and terms exactly what's going on with your car step by step. I would highly recommend using them. They do anything at that garage your car may need and they are extremely fair on the prices. You can trust them. Go in and ask for a Nick.

We brought the car in and had the timing belt and water pump replaced. We were told the engine was fine and it was good to go. Not too long there after we had to bring it in because of engine issues (not shocked). They did the work yet again. We took it home and started having issues again. I had another mechanic (family member) take a look but not fix anything because I wanted the dealership to take care of it. He said they missed a lot of things and it needed more work. We brought it back and they said they couldn't see anything. Finally after several visits they found what the previous mechanic found. They did a repair but ended up causing other problems that weren't covered. We finally said forget it and brought it to someone else. They felt bad at all of the issues we had and only charged us parts (again a family member). Its been running great since then.

    Hudsonville Wheel Alignment
It's a family business and all the workers are honest men who will tell us if an issue is something that
needs to be done, or can wait a while . We have always been very pleased with their service.
It's a small shop, so be aware that it might take a week to get your vehicle in for an appointment.
The only drawback to telling people about how great they are is that they might get even busier , and then it might take longer to get an appointment ....

    Usa Lentz Automotive Service Center
It went fine, they do a free diagnostics and give you a quote with options and then you make the decision to have it fixed or not. My wife and I decided to have the car repaired, so we left it with them and it was ready to pick before the time they told it should be ready. I use them whenever I need repairs I cannot do myself.
