    21st Century Windows
I needed repairs done on my siding after windy weather past through my area. I called 21st Century who had installed the siding and asked if they could come out, within two days Mark the owner of the company was at my house to do the repairs. It's been 12 years since I had the siding installed and was treated as though I was a new customer. I'm so pleased that I choose 21st Century for all the updates I had them do in my home.

I had very old masonite siding that was falling apart, gutters that were allowing some water to get behind them and three rotted windows and doors.

Matt came out and went through the details; he was the fourth and final contractor I had coming out to do the quote. Two things here were great: First, the estimate was the lowest of the four estimates I received (next closest was about $500 higher). Second, Matt wasn't the standard sales guy that spent half the time talking about the company and how their material's were better than everyone else's (after three estimates, I was sick of the sales spiel), he cut right to the chase on what his crew could/would do. I also noticed that the replacement sheathing that MCB uses was half the cost of the next lowest contractor.
The work started roughly right when Matt said they would once the windows came in three weeks later. The crew was fantastic, they were there every morning 8 - 8:30 kicking butt and taking names. They would usually leave around 3 - 4 once they got to a good stopping point. They were friendly and easy to work with and more that happy to answer any questions. We found out early that some of the masonite had concrete behind it and I didn't want to have new siding over that. Since it was black, I planned on painting it to match the siding once the work was done. They ended up painting it themselves free of charge!
The one and only thing I noticed in the entire process I believe that could have been improved is that the estimate took a few days to get after Matt came out. Most contractors provide the estimate the day they come out. While I assume MCB is able to provide a better estimate this way, it would have been nice to have an idea the first day since I was eager to get the ball rolling. This is the reason for the "B" in Responsiveness.
Aside from that, everything was fantastic. The work finished without too many issues. My house looks great; I've already gotten numerous compliments on it. I will be calling MCB again for any sort of construction work and I will recommend them to anyone I know in the area looking to have some work done.

Everything went fine except they set there ladder on a gutter and smashed it. They tried to fix it but it did not work. Called to tell them they left something on the roof, was going to tell them about the gutter when they came out. Of corse they came when we were gone so I called to them but they never showed up. The problem is we do not have a ladder big enough to reAch the gutter so now we have a water fall until we pay someone to fix it.

They were the only ones who said that we needed to have our roof cleaned and not replaced. The cap was damaged and needed to be replaced. We also contracted them to install a leaf protection system.

They did an excellent job, cleaned up really well and saved us at least $12,000

I originally needed just baffles installed in my attic, but no one would come out just to do that since it would be too cheap of a job. The sales person came out for this, was very informative, did an attic inspection and explained the situation to me. I agreed to go ahead with adding insulation in addition to having the baffles installed so I could bring my attic insulation up to code.
The part I need to gripe about is the scheduling. While they scheduled the work relatively quickly, they cancelled on me twice. And this wasn't a cancellation the day before, they called me the day of during the time they were supposed to arrive, the first time because it was too cold (it was around 5 degrees F) and the second time because there was too much snow on the ground (I shoveled my driveway that morning, it was 6 - 8" and the roads were plowed). When they finally did make the appointment on the third try, they were profession and the work was done well and quickly.
I don't think my experience should stop others from contracting them, but the poor scheduling and last minute cancellations left a bad taste in my mouth. Had they called me the day before saying the weather was suspect and given me the option to reschedule then so I wouldn't need to miss work for nothing, it would have up'ed their score here.

This is my third encounter with 21st Century and again Mark and his team went above and beyond. I had water damage in my Family Room, they replaced drywall, insulation, molding and painted. All walls were sprayed to kill mold that had formed behind the walls. I took their advice to add gutters and visqueen on the outside. Mark, Rick and Bob thanks for a job well done.

They arrived on time. They were professional and did not just take off and re-install new gutters - they also put thought into it and re-routed a couple downspouts so that we will no longer have a water/ice issue across our sidewalk.  They cleaned up afterwards and were polite.

The owner Pat was just fantastic to deal with.  He returned my calls promptly and always had time to answer my questions.  Pat was very professional, courteous and a pleasure to deal with.  Pat's crew was exactly the same.

The shingles were delivered when Pat said they would.  Pat's crew had to work around the rainy weather.  The unfinished roof was covered in tarps and I found no leaking while waiting out the rain delay.  Before beginning work the crew would cover the windows  by laying plywood over them and moved my wife's figurines from the flower beds away from the house to prevent any damage.  After each day of work the crew picked up all the debris and used a magnetic broom-like tool to pick up any nails.  The yard was spotless before they left for the day.

My wife and I are super happy at the finished result.  I can't say enough good things about Pat and his crew.  If you need roof work don't waste time calling any other company than Apex Roofing.  I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

    LOCKHART ROOFING CO
Snow was removed and salt put on the roof to help melt the ice. Our house is one story in the front and 3 stories in the back. It took about a week for the salt to melt enough of the ice to stop the leaking into the house. Our ice was very thick in the front; less in the back. Job was done quickly as they had 3 guys on the roof; the only downside was they buried my dryer vent under 4 feet of snow. I had to get my son-in-law to dig it out.
The price was a little high compared to another company I had contacted, but Lockhart was able to come out the soonest so I used them. So far I am not disappointed that I did. They will be doing additional work for me (gutters, roofing, and potentially siding) and I will do a review on each of those also.

    Michigan Gutter Protection, Inc.
The worst experience we have ever had with a contractor.  The contractor breached our contract.  He was next to impossible to communicate with.  He always had an excuse for the work he did not get done.  Anyone that uses Jeff Dompierre, owner of Michigan Gutter Protection, to do handyman work could be very sorry.  While the minimal work that Jeff did was OK, he is not a man of his word.

Since February, we have been working with Jeff to get him to either complete the contracted work or reimburse us for the uncompleted work.  It has been a constant struggle.  Re-negotiated the contract - work to be completed by April 15, 2014.  Work still has not been done and we have not been reimbursed.

As of May 2014, Michigan Gutter Protection is no longer in the office location listed on the business license.  And, the telephone number for the business is disconnected.

Anyone considering using Jeff as a contractor should be aware that he is not licensed to do construction work - only licensed for his gutter business.  Jeff is extremely unreliable.  If he has a job to do that pays more, your project will not receive a priority.
