Appliance Repair reviews in Holland

    METROPOLITAN APPLIANCE SERVICE LLC
Service professionals arrived during time expected. They did a good job diagnosing the problem with our refrigerator which was not cooling. We decided not to go ahead with the repair since it would be the same price as a new appliance. They offered helpful advice on choosing a new appliance and extended warranty, and we will contact them in the future if we need repairs.

    Veldheer Appliance Repair
Daniel Veldheer replied to my call and asked if he could come the following day. I asked if there was any way he could come the same day and he was able to fit me in. He called ahead of his arrival and when he arrived he already had the suspected part in hand. A quick analysis based on his experience revealed that the part he suspected was in fact what had failed. In all of 20 minutes he assessed the problem, disassembled the washer, replaced the part and reassembled it. It instantly worked the way it should. As a field engineer myself, I definitely appreciated his capability and skill. Final Analysis: The repair could not have gone any smoother; he was professional AND friendly; and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this company for appliance repairs. Sincerely, Vladimir Trbulin, Holland, MI.

    Appliance Doctor
Provider was able to come a day earlier than originally scheduled (which was good) and they showed up at the early end of the estimated arrival time. Fixed the washing machine problem and checked out the gas dryer to make sure it was in good (and safe) working order. They also cleaned out the dryer vent and he crawled underneath the deck to make sure the exterior vent was clear and in good working order.

    Northgate Appliance
I'm finding that being a good customer to Northgate isn't important to them, as they will not service anything that you did not purchase from them -- even if they carry the brand.  I had a situation where two of three appliances that needed repair came from Northgate and they serviced them (slow turn around time).  However, the third appliance that needed repair was a brand that they carry but they would not service it.  It is a pain to try to get them to service anything, and I'll never obuy from them again.  I think that they have over-expanded and cannot manage the load, resulting in memorable poor customer service.

    Veldheer Appliance Repair
Initially I called Northgate Appliance but they are so busy they only service appliances that they've sold. They referred me to Veldheer Appliance Repair. I called them in the morning and they arrived that same afternoon and fixed the washer within an hour. Labor was $55 and the part was $45 - a great deal as far as I'm concerned!

Dave arrived on time, was very pleasant.  He has been to my house before, and always is efficient and knowledgeable.
Discussed a couple of possible solutions: the dryer has two thermostats: the basic one, and one emergency 'override' in case the first stopped functioning.  Without knowing which thermostat was defective (since the dryer was working fine when he came, of course), he chose to replace the basic one.  He left my old thermostat, telling me if there was still a problem(which meant  it was the emergency thermostat that needed replacement), he would put my old thermostat back in, and not charge me for the other.  He would then replace the defective emergency override thermostat.
In the course of our discussion, I also learned very good info from Dave on features needed if/when I  purchased a new dryer in future.
My dryer is working fine, which means the problem was a defective 'basic' thermostat.
There was a call-out charge, of course.  The wonderfully surprising thing was that I was charged for the actual work-time, which was 10 minutes only.
Northgate repairs only the appliances they sell; a policy that seems to make for repair people who really know their jobs. One of the factors I consider when purchasing appliances is the fact that I know who I'm going to call for repair.  My current dryer is approx. 25-30 years old, and, now that it's repaired,  still doing everything I want it to.

    Veldheer Appliance Repair
I orginally called Veldheer to repair a clothes washer dryer that was not working well. He met with me and advised not to repair the unit which was good advice since this model has had extensive production quality issues. He did try easy fixes like changing the timer in order to determine the issue; but in the end, the washer needed replacement not repair. Veldheer did not charge me for the service call so I used him again when I replaced by dishwasher. I had purchased the washer via a buying club and did not know when the unit would be arrive unil the last minute. He did a nice job installing the washer for me less than 48 hours after I recieved the unit and after he recieved my call.

I'd had experience with this company before as they're the one the manufacturer uses for warranty work. On that occasion, late in the day, they called while we were on another call, got a busy signal and went home "because they couldn't contact us to verify we were home". The busy signal didn't tip them we were home nor did they try to call again. We called the next day, got the story and set up another appointment. Time came and went no phone call no nothing. We gave up and got someone else to do the repair at our own expense. Fortunately it was a fairly inexpensive repair that time.
This time went no better. I checked with them twice during the day, the second time around 3:30. On the second call they told me they were "running behind" and probably wouldn't make it until well after 5:00. If I hadn't called I would have been waiting all afternoon for nothing and then had to leave after 5:00 for another engagement.
Thus, I was not happy with this very same problem yet again with their "service" and told them so. I then was switched to a "manager" to whom I also complained in no uncertain terms, related my previous experience but never with any offensive language or anything inappropriate.. He then told me, not asked but told, they would reschedule. I told him I wasn't interested in waiting several hours for them again on a another day and then having that probably fall through as seemed to be their habit. I asked him to get his repairman there as soon as possible but I had to go somewhere after five. He then said he wasn't interested in doing the job at all and to call the manufacturer for another company. I told him, no, send your guy but I may not be able to wait. He basically said tough luck-call the manufacturer. I did just that.
Obviously, this is not a company that cares about it's customers or about good service. If they did they could easily have called when they first realized there was a problem and, in any event, if it needed to be rescheduled have promised being the first stop on their next available trip to my area which would only have been fair and common practice by the better service providers.. But they just don't want to be bothered and they definitely don't want to hear criticism about it. His very words were "I didn't buy a refrigerator from LG, you did. It's not my problem it's yours".
I doubt that's the attitude most people want from a service company--any service company. Go elsewhere and don't let the manufacturer send you to this company. Frankly, with their negative attitude toward LG I'm surprised LG uses them.
