    Betts Services, LLC
Curtis Betts and crew do excellent work and go above and beyond; Curtis made my home improvement project go smooth and worry free. Curtis is friendly, professional, cares about doing a quality job and his communication was top-notch throughout the entire project. You can trust he will stick to schedule and works hard. The project included painting most of a bungalow interior with various repairs required to areas of wall, ceiling and trim, painting & caulking baseboards, multiple coats of solid stain on front deck, kitchen tile backsplash install, bathroom floor tile install, other misc. repairs, powerwashing and even included some extras; all at a competitive price. Multiple coats of paint were needed and the finished result looks great! Job site always kept clean and organized, work was completed fast and he made sure the area was ready when another contractor came by and I didnt even need to ask. Curtis also made spot-on paint color and tile recommendations that I went ahead with that look fantastic and will without a doubt help to sell my home. I will absolutely be calling Curtis again for future work and have already recommended him to a friend.

    R & L Fire & Water Restoration
I had RNL remove kitchen cabinets, and install new ones. When the old cabinets were taking out they discovered a leak years ago that was fixed by someone else but not correctly and had created a lot of mold and mildew. Tom and his crew being the professionals that they are, made sure all mold was removed, and everything was done correctly and safely. The part I liked was them explaining how they were taking steps to insure I didn't have this problem again. How reassuring that I can breathe easy knowing the work was done right. I couldn't ask for more from any company then the honesty and quality work that I received. I do wish more companies cared this much about their customers and doing a job right.

    Living In Style Construction, LLC
Absolutely amazing! We need to move out of the area and there was so much work to be done I was beginning to panic. Now I couldn't be happier! They were a totally reliable & professional company. Regan was easy to talk with and helpful with addressing the work we needed done. From wall repair/painting to dealing with some water damage and a major DIY FAIL of mine & my husband's, the crew; Cecil, John & Leonard were incredible in getting it done. Everything is fixed and our house feels brand new, I can breathe again. I can't say enough how great of an experience this was. I would definitely recommend going with Living in Style for your house.

I was really surprised how smoothly the whole process was. Workers were very professional. On time everyday and cleaned up at the end of each day. Now, I just sit back and enjoy the kitchen I've always dreamed of.

    • Spectacular good job. I would recommend I was impressed with his promptness, completeness, and cleanliness of his work. I would strongly recommend him to do your handyman and other work. In fact, I have used him on three other projects and have recommended him for another.

    Lakes Professional Painting Co
Well, they were friendly. I liked them personally. But, from a business standpoint, I have two issues.
First, they urged me to use Sherwin Williams rather that Benjamin Moore where I selected my colors. The result was a house with colors that are off and lack richness. Some I can live with. Others I cannot and will redo myself. The lavender pearl looks like pink puke. Wow... and that was a SW computer match. Shame on them. Avoid Sherwin Williams at all cost no matter how much your painter urges. Learn from my mistake.
Second the job was not inexpensive. By my calculations of actual man-hours... we are talking $50/hr each... I think that is steep for spraying primer and rolling final coats on new drywall. We are not talking the Sistine Chapel here.
Also, the paint job itself way ok not great. For example, walls are not painted to the floor (which is subfloor so no risk of getting paint on hardwood or anything) and there are areas where the molding will not cover. I will need to touch-up by hand. The same goes for door jams.
There are some walls that do not go to the ceiling and so are topped with drywall... they forgot to paint some that needed to be painted (vestibule)
I paid them extra to do some minor repair work covering metal corner edging that was poking thru the new drywall... they did so except in several areas where a ladder would have been needed to do the repairs. So i see metal when i look up at the ceiling in a few areas. They did not do they drywalling so its not exactly their fault, but the agreed to do the repair work at a $45/hr rate and just missed some... so it reflects the systematic lack of attention to basic detail.
Let me be clear, i was not expecting a perfect job. The drywalling was not perfect. The lines were not always straights and so the cutting from one color to another is off by no fault of the painters as well... i only fault them for things 100% under their control... and only because I paid top dollar so I feel I have a right to expect a certain level of basic care... like don't leave things unpainted and please paint at least within an inch or two of the floor and door jams.
As well, where colors were used, it seems they used a primer but then for the final 2 coats only used the "good stuff" for last coat and a cheaper grade for the 2nd to last. This cheaper grade had a different sheen (200 promar vs duration).... which is great if it saves money but in places this strategy got mixed up and we have touch ups in the wrong sheen that I will have to go back and touch up again.
Was it a horrible job? NO. But it was a horrible value in my opinion.
They did offer to come back for any issues... touch-ups etc... and I have no doubt that they would... but frankly I would rather do it myself at this point in the game. Would I use them again... no, I do not think so. They were nice, they tried, but they rushed a bit I am sure assuming they can come back if asked for any shortcomings.... And their "expert" recommendation regarding Sherwin Williams was unfortunate to say the least. So, based on high price, average quality and poor expert advice I cannot recommend.

    Done by Deana
I have waited this long to give my review so I could cool off.  I trusted Angie's list to provide contractors to do a good job at a fair cost.   Cost was not the issue.   Deanna came out and said my tiny bath would fall into the coupon limits.  I assumed "she" was going to be doing the painting.  I trusted her, I am a female business owner, like to help other females with their business.
Scheduled a day for work,  said she was going to have 2 ladies and would be done in about 4 hours.  I was unaware there were "crews" working for her.   So I did not question.    3 women show up, one was Deanna.  I work from home, I am in the bedroom (sewing room) next to the bathroom.   I could easily hear her instructions to the (now we are at one girl, full day) lady that was going to be doing my room.
Deanna was explaining what I wanted done, and was asking her "do you know how to do that?"  Do you know what I mean?  Are you going to be o.k. with that?      I have this sinking feeling at what I am hearing.   I did not want to say anything, did not want to start a fuss and have them be mad and do a crappy job.   (that was stupid!)   then Deanna and (her sis
ter) leave this "lady"  to do the room alone, and she has no car, left alone.   What if I had a family emergency??
Anyway, now the day starts,  (late of course)   I tell them I have no lights in the bathroom and since it gets dark after 4 it will be very difficult to see.   She says she has a light,  (of course that creates shadows!)   She sands and patches for a very long time, and I did not think about the "powder"  that eventually COVERS my entire house.   My black gas stove was white,  I was slipping on non carpet floors,  my tvs, new carpet, furniture, kitchen was totally covered.
NO DROPCLOTHS!    All her scraping, sanding in the bath was ALL OVER the entire bath.    Asked for a broom and a dust cloth.     Then the painting started very late in the afternoon.   Puts this high temp light on my brand new "plastic" Jacuzzi toilet seat,  I moved it and put several towels under it.   The only tile was in the tub area.  Bull nose bordered the painted walls.
My grandson and me scraped all the previous owners paint off the white bull nose tile.  She slopped green paint on the entire line of tile,  on the white tile baseboard, on the caulk along my new pedestal sink,  on my 1950 wood door, both sides.  Slopped the white paint where ever it met green.  Even at night you could see the beige paint showing through many places.
Well Deanna and sister finally show up about 6:30 to pick her up.   Deanna looks and say, well I seen worse!!!!!     So they point out things that need to be fixed.   Deanna said she would be back by the end of the week to repair.    I should have asked what week, what month.   Never called.  Finally I called,  sent the same girl!   Never did a follow up to see if all was well.     I ended up fixing the mess.    Customer service?

The experience I had with William Ellis was horrific. They didn't finish the job, tried to go behind my back and get the insurance company to pay them for the job when it wasn't even completed. They told us they weren't going to finish the job after we had expressed our concerns about the problems with the work so far. In the winter time we weren't living in the house while it was being fixed and they left space heaters out, which wasn't what they advised they were going to do, and our electric bill was over 1,000 dollars. A window was broken when they put in the registers and each register they put in was done incorrectly. They input the toilet incorrectly and when the toilet was flushed it leaked into the basement. I would never recommend them to anyone.

    Colortime Renovations
Very, very fair with the pricing and very responsive. They completed the work in a timely manner and the work was superb. He is also doing additional work for me know and so far so good. This work will also involve carpentry work. He was so good with the painting he is now also my go to guy for electric and carpentry work.
