Window Replacement reviews in Haslett

My review is in regards to his home window replacements. Unlike the reviews for auto glass and shower doors, Gary is very unprofessional when it comes to his Quaker replacement window business. I had 13 windows replaced last summer of which 4 of them were double (side by side) windows. 1 of those was bowed so bad it couldn't be hidden and the installers had Gary come right over and look at it and he then followed up with calling the factory rep. That replacement was also severely bowed and needed to be ordered for the third time to get a satisfactory product. Another of those was slightly bowed and replaced but the wood used for the extension jambs looks like it is water damaged. A third double was jacked pretty bad and had bent hardware but was installed complete as if it were except-able but was also later replaced. When the factory rep finally came over with Gary to look at the first install, his excuse was that "these windows are built in a small town that requires more employees than the size of that town and that GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND". Keep in mind that they don't expedite the re-ordered windows, you get them when you get them. One of the windows was missing a vent/drain part on the outside bottom of the window and after the factory sent a new one it was the wrong size so they took the other one off to try and get the right size this time. This spring I went to his shop to see why they haven't replaced the parts and he had them in his truck and never came by to fix it after all this time. I also told him that the three windows that were remade all were missing the safety latches and he said he would be over the next day, yet never showed up. I called him the day following and he said he called the factory rep instead. And today I still wait for a reply. Gary lives in the same neighborhood and yet can't fix the problem or give an update regarding his call to the rep. My advise-- Check your windows over really good and make sure they are not flawed and not bowed, crooked, jacked, bent hardware, missing parts, or bowed screens like mine were before you submit final payment. From here I guess I go to the BBB. He was going to quote putting storms in my porch and never followed through. The window ordeal has been ongoing for about 10 months so far.

See our previous comments which were all A's. Excellent windows and installation job. Person who gave estimate too pushy.
We had a slight problem with some leakage after huge EL rains and a blemish inside one of the layers in an unnoticeable area. Called Hanson's 1 year later about the issues. Had a prompt response. Person evaluated our issue, offered to immediately replace the window with the defect and would have someone call and come out to do re-calking of the window that leaked because a very tall ladder (which he did not have with him) would be needed. Now waiting call but we were extremely pleased with the rapid and positive response we received.

From the very start with the salesmen they were prompt, factual and not pushy or aggressive. Promptly returned all calls and answered ? if possible. The measurer and installers were prompt, courteous and did an excellent job. The were neat and tidy and did a great job of clean up after they finished. While swinging one of the doors into place they accidentally made a gouge in the dry wall of a doorway. They repaired it promptly and said they (the company) would pay for any paint and additional work needed, which they did. Great company, excellent product. We can already feel the temperature difference in the room. Work qualifies for an energy rebate and is expected to lower both our AC and heating bills.

Excellent crew, excellent work.  These men took pride in their work and it showed.  The price was very competitive, especially compared to the larger siding and window companies out there.
Usually an A means "no issues or exception" - in this case I would rate higher than that if I could because they delivered beyond expectation.

Pella Windows and Doors were very nice individuals. They did a nice job of cleaning up afterwards and there was no touch-up work that we had to do. When they replaced our windows, they did all the work and it was done when they left.

While the sales pitch was a little high pressure we were able to ignore that part. The followup service was excellent. The local manager was extremely helpful and followed thru. He made recommendations on his install crew based on our concerns. The installation was excellent even though difficult and professional. The crew pleasant and did an excellent job of cleaning up. The office staff was courteous, helpful and followed thru both during and after installation to make sure we were satisfied and that all went according to plan

From the initial visit to price and order the windows in April to the installation in June, all of their staff were friendly and professional. They kept me informed every step of the way with emails and phone calls. They showed up for all of their appointments for measurements and installation right on time as promised and worked around my schedule.
There was no pressure sale. I was very happy with the price. In fact, I got an estimate from another company for the exact same windows just to compare and that company tried to charge me thousands more than C and L Ward did. So I'm confident I got a good deal.
I love my windows. They are a breeze to open and shut and clean and look great. The ones they installed for me a couple of years ago still look and function just as great as the new ones. I think the quality of the installation is just as important as the quality of the windows themselves and I'm very impressed with the quality of their work. I would definitely recommend C and L Ward to anyone looking for new replacement windows.

Setup up an appointment on Saturday they never showed or called. I called basically got the run around and finally scheduled another appointment. The day of that appointment at 9:00am, I waited till 11:00am I called furious they said there must be a scheduling mistake and was never on the schedule. I finally talked to the owner he said sorry for the confusion will get you hook up with a quality window. They scheduled a guy out measure the window of coarse he was 2 hours late to measure the window. They wrote up the bill 3 times trying to charge me and extra $150. I continued to explain the Angies list deal $250 for $500 dollars' worth of windows. I had the estimator call the owner and the owner confirmed what I was saying was correct and I would not owe any money.|As for the install it went smooth and the window looks great but as for the process to get the window in was as poor as I have every encountered. The owner did try to correct but I would not recommend.

They did an excellent job. They scheduled an appointment for an estimate, and the finished price was the same as the estimate given us. During the appointment we chose the style of windows we wanted from his samples.  They requested 25% down and the balance upon completion. The appointment was scheduled for less than two weeks later.  The worker arrived on time, and removed and replaced all 7 windows with the glass block windows in about 3-1/2 hours. He cleaned up before leaving, and the windows look great. We are very pleased and would use them again.

This is a family owned company out of Grand Rapids and the salespeople were nice when they came to my house to give me a quote.  They shared with me things about family and personal life so that I felt like I knew them.  I originally contracted with them for some windows and two skylights (about $3400) and then ended up hiring them for additional windows ($9700).  The windows that they sold me were advertized and called EnviroView.  When they were installed, I found out that these were made by Alside.  I was disappointed that the windows were made by Alside, feeling a little like a bait and switch.  These additional windows were complicated as they were not replacement windows. They required building frames before installing windows.  They came and measured twice and everything was delayed until the weather improved.  I was called the night before and told that they planned to come the next day to begin installation.  They contracted John Magnum to do the windows because they were complicated and it took a week to complete the installation.  The windows turned out wonderful and I am pleased with the work although it took longer than they told me it would.  He did not install the skylights.  All American Remodeling sent someone else to install the skylights and they were a disaster.  I was appalled with the job.  They were installed with patches on the roof and black tar which they got on the skylights.  Having had significant problems with leaking in the past and with black tar, I knew that it would crack in the sun and I would be faced with leaking again.  I called to complain and was promised call backs from the owner which did not occur.  I was really angry, sent pictures to them of the skylight installation, and then they finally sent an expert out who promised to install them differently.  He also suggested a PVC flat roof system.  I agreed to that upgrade. That was done professionally.  So other than the skylights, I was pleased with the quality of the work both on the new roof and the windows.  The windows are energy efficient and met the Energy Star rebate standards for Consumer's Energy.  The people who work for the company are nice, and I am pleased with the work,  but for the most part it was a very frustrating experience.
