    They are good. All they do is cats and they do an excellent job. It is a lovely little Tudor home, the bottom of it has kept its original charm and that is for the cats. They have a resident cat to greet your cat. Their charge the last time I was there was very reasonable. There is a lab on premise and they do lab tests while you wait. They are really wonderful. They can do surgery and can do everything there. Even though it is a hospital their prices are good. They love cats. Cats like to be in a place where there are no dogs usually. It is really a nice place if they are sick.

    With just 72 hours notification, Holly was able to get us on the schedule.  It went extremely well.  Her business is a well oiled machine.  She keeps records of our instructions and keeps our key.  That way, when we have to pick up and leave, Holly is able to step in and take care of our dog(s).  We used to board our dogs when we had to leave town, but it is actually less expensive to bring in Holly for our pet care.  It is far less traumatic for the animals when they can stay in the home where they feel the most comfortable.  Our rescue dogs are so much better off in her care and not exposed to the veterinary diseases that kennels have from time to time.

    It went extremely well.  We had Holly check the "hot spots" in the house (where dogs had accidents previously) to determine if another visit would be needed each day.  There were no problems and no messes with having her come in just every 12 hours. When we returned, our pets looked happy and hearty.  We will call Critter Care when we need to travel again!

    This is a new shop for my favorite groomer, Cori. I followed her from another shop that I had gone to for grooming and boarding for many, many years. I had thought it was fine, as I loved my groomer. However, going to The Elegant Pooch is so much nicer. It is a new shop and cageless - there are cute little theme rooms for each dog to wait for their grooming and an outdoor place area. The shop is so classy and pleasant to go to. Although I have my favorite groomer, all the groomers seem fine and all the staff there are friendly and helpful. My vet has asked me who I use for a groomer, since he can tell that their ears are in such good condition. Cori has responded to my vet's request for a certain cut for my Labradoodle who was itching from swimming in our Lake - I didn't really want to have her beautiful blond curls cut off - but Cori did a short cut - added a Mohawk! - and it looks very good on Bindi. No matter what I have requested in special grooming - Cori does it. It is a lovely shop and I am glad that The Elegant Pooch was built. I am moving soon, but will willingly travel the extra distance to go there.

    As usual, my dogs did very well here at Samarkand kennels. I had been going to another good boarding kennel for many, many years. However, when my dog population reached 4 dogs, I could no longer afford the other kennel. My vet recommended Samarkand a couple of years ago and I tried it. It is an excellent kennel - one of my dogs has special needs and they watch him and care for him like I do at home. I can afford these kennels, as they are much cheaper than my original kennel, although their services are just as good. I read that negative review and was very surprised - I can't imagine that happening at Samarkand - if my dogs soil their beds, they wash them. They always return the dog's items such as bedding, left-over food and toys in good condition. I volunteer for the Red Cross disaster service and could not continue this until I found Samarkand kennels which I can afford for the length of time I am gone. The dogs love to come here - out of my four - two are very anxious dogs - they do as well here as the two balanced dogs - my little one cries at the car window when we pull up as he is so eager to go there. I've never met an unpleasant person at the kennel, and they are ready to give you any help needed - especially when I pull up with 4 dogs, 4 beds, a large container of food, and their toys. They have given medication and it must have been OK as the dogs have never gotten sick while at the kennels or at home later. I would highly recommend the Samarkand kennels as being very good for your dogs and at the same time affordable.

    I recently became the owner of a rescued Am Staff (pit bull breed) and sought training for this loving, but powerful, dog. The owner of a very well-trained Belgian Malinois recommended Nick. I?ve not been disappointed.
    Nick works with owner and dog, and makes training enjoyable and effective for both. After t he first class, I had a better understanding of my dog?s individual nature and my dog eagerly responded to different commands! I began learning how to be a wise dog owner.
    Nick has the ability to explain things in a humorous, highly understandable manner; and no question is dumb. I watch Nick quickly address each owner and dog issue.  For example, one dog was pulling his owner around and trying to eat other dogs. Within 10
    minutes of training and positive reinforcement, Defiant Dog became Good Dog. A few minutes later, Nick showed me how to get excellent response from my ?sensitive? 65-lb ?lot of? dog ? again with positive reinforcement and a calm voice.
    While I?ve always had what my friends call ?well-trained? dogs (usually 2-3 at a time), I can honestly say that this is the first time I feel relaxed and secure that when my dog is around people and other dogs, he will act appropriately ? no pulling on walks, jumping on people, ignoring my calls, or menacing actions. And I'm not constantly reminding them or stressing - it?s fantastic!
    Nick is a great contributor to our dog training community ? from basic obedience to highly trained security/specialty professional. He is also gaining national recognition for his skills and training. Check out his website!

    I would be very worried to leave my pets here after what I experienced tonight. I called to ask if they could accommodate me as i was having unexpected surgery the next day. The young girls that answered the phone was quite pleasant. She said yes to bring them in and they closed at 6 pm. All vet papers were faxed prior. I told her I would leave my home at 4:30 and it would take me an hour. I was going to run out of food so I called back and talked to a different young girl. Again she was nice and said they had food there but it wasn't the kind I fed my dog. (My dog is on limited ingredients due to bowel issues.) The young girl kindly gave me a couple of places to go to. I told her I would still be there well before 6. All was fine.
    I got there and took my dog blankets and food in. There was a heavy set lady behind the desk with dark hair. She was very rude. She told me they were closing and it would take her until 7:30 to check in my dogs and she was going home. She said she wasn't going to pay the two young girls to stay there because I didn't read a brochure to see what time I had to check in. I was a bit shaken at this statement. I told her I was sorry I didn't have a brochure and she stated it was written everywhere. (Well, it wasn't on google where I got their number from)
    I apologized again and said I would come back tomorrow. She said ok and shut the door and pulled down the shade turning the closed sign around. I felt the wind of the door closing on my leg! I went by my car to collect myself as I now had tears. I would have to get someone to bring the dogs and try to get to the hospital on time.
    I went back and knocked on the door. I asked if I did something to offend her or if I did something wrong. She said I should have known to be there by 5. I told her I am not sure how I would have known that. She then said, and quot;Fine, I will take your dogs, BUT ALL OF THE DOGS HAVE BEEN LET OUT FOR THE NIGHT AND SHE WOULD JUST PUT THEM IN A CAGEand quot; I hadn't fed them yet so they would eat and not be let out.
    She confirmed that no one returns until 7-8 the next morning. WOW am I glad i found this out. That is 14 hours of your pet either trying to frantically hold it or having to stool on the floor. THIS IS CRUEL AND HORRIBLE. I will never go here again. BTW...I took one of the brochures on the way out. Guess what it says?? and quot;The longest your dog will go without going outside is 1.5 hoursand quot;
    HUM.... I am glad I was unknowingly late to find this out.

    The veterinarian has a wonderful manner with my dog and my cat. He takes the stress out of going to the vet. There is no trauma when he goes into the little room to get injections or procedures. It is such a relief. It is pretty much a no problem experience.

    I had a dog that passed away a couple of years ago. Once she started to get sick, I could board her with them because they were also a veterinary clinic, and I knew that I could trust them. They constantly watched and monitored her. I never had to worry that something would go wrong while she was there. There was no extra charge for taking care of her because she will ill. They knew her by name, and they are like that with the new dog I have now. They are constantly with the pet and don't put them in a kennel and only walk them, and then forget about the.

    If you call on the telephone, expect the following: "Haslett Animal Hospital. Can you hold?" It would be much better if the one to two front desk people did not also have to answer the phones. While you are holding for quite a while, you have to listen to sales pitches that are annoying. They provide good care but their prices are some of the highest in the area. Expect to WAIT way beyond your appointment time, especially in the afternoons. I generally have to wait 20-30 minutes beyond my appointment time before I see the vet. They stick you in an exam room with no reading material. It stresses your pet out to have to wait so long and hear all the commotion, barking, etc. in the back while you are waiting. Checking out can take forever and the front desk staff sometimes act like they are doing you a favor. I think they are stressed out by too much to do with too few people. I would not go to Haslett Animal except that it is convenient with my busy schedule. But, expect to never get out of there for less that $100 bucks, even for a slight ear or eye irritation. Their drugs are EXTREMELY overpriced.
