    Jacobsen Remodeling Inc
Mr. Jacobsen was laid up from a serious accident from the time the project was started, but he was still able to keep things moving in a timely way and maintain the high quality we expected. We are very pleased!

    Avalon Building Concepts
We have used them a second time because we were satisfied with their work.  They were timely and cleaned up well which is important to me.  We got other quotes and determined that Avalon was the best value, for the quality, timely service, and their variety of options.

    Pure Energy Window Company
We love our Pure Energy windows! Our home was about 14 years old but we were annoyed by the drafty windows and the noise from the golf course mowers behind us. We replaced 18 windows and the noise was dramatically reduced and our electricity usage has dropped by almost 30% a month! The installers were friendly and efficient and did the whole job in one day! We highly recommend this company and product, without hesitation!

Installers did an excellent job. They were friendly and considerate. They used drop clothes and cleaned up every area. They made sure I was fully satisfied with their work.i was very pleased with the quality and timely work. I was also impressed with the sales person, he was very friendly, had good information, and not critical of other companies, and he was not pushy at all, he even included my grandaughter in helping him do the measuring. Overall I was very impressed with this company.

We are very happy with the look of our new windows! The cost was fair. We bought the Angie's List deal for 4 block windows for $369 but we had 5 windows to replace. Once they came out to measure and give us a quote for the 5th they told us that our windows were smaller than normal so they needed to charge us extra to adjust the window size for the 4 we already bought. That was a little odd but this was our first time purchasing windows we we took their word for it. They charged us an extra $192 for the 5th window and the adjusting. Overall we are happy with the look and speediness of the process. Very friendly workers as well.

We are very pleased with our new windows.
We visited the Grand Rapids Home Show 2015 looking for info on new windows and siding. One company refused to set up a estimate unless we could both be present. Been there, done that. Typically means a high-pressure sales situation. Eliminated them immediately.
Polar Seal rep. came out. Did the estimate. Explained the product very well and left the info for me to review with my husband.
Our installers Paul and his assistant arrived on time and worked efficiently to install all of out windows in one day. Cleaned up beautifully and hauled away all the debris. Paul was also able to point me in the right direction to have some smaller inside repairs done. Small jobs are hard to find people to do and I was grateful for his help.
I can only hope we have as good of an experience with our up coming siding project.

Needing two glass block windows in our basement, I checked Angie's List for a provider.  I contacted WMGB because they had several reviews and were positively rated.  Additionally, they had an offer on Angie's List at $369 for the installation of four windows.  I called WMGB and explained to the woman that answered the phone that I needed only two windows.  She expressed that although the special was for four windows, they could offer a discount as I needed only two windows.  She suggested that an estimator would need to visit my home to provide an estimate.
An estimator did visit my home.  He provided and estimate for two windows, totaling $438.  The estimate was submitted with a unit cost for each window.  I asked the estimator to provide me an estimate for labor and materials.  He indicated he did not know how to provide that breakdown.   Curiously, he did include sales tax on the estimate, which I calculated was for material costs of $56 dollars.   I explained to the estimator that I could not reconcile his estimate, given the price quoted for two windows was over $50 more than the offer to have four windows installed.   He suggested I reread the offer advertised on Angie's List.
The day after the estimators visit I called WMGB and asked to speak with a Sales Manager for an explanation of this situation.  A manager was not available.  I explained my concern to the woman that answered the phone.  She was able to calculate the material cost of $72 per window, although the estimator was unable to provide this information.   I requested the opportunity to speak with a Sales Manager.  As the manager was not available on the Friday morning I called, she took a message and indicated the manager would call me the following Monday.   I am writing this review six days later, and have not heard from anyone at WMGB.   Fortunately, I have found another provider that will be installing the windows tomorrow, for $90 each.

We've only had the windows installed for a couple of weeks but so far everything is perfect.
We started with a list of 5 window replacement providers that we thought we should get quotes from (Anderson Renewal, Pella, Grand Rapids Glass Block, Home Depot and 1-800 Hansens).  The first 2 interview/quotes were with Anderson and Pella.  The sales people for those two companies were very nice and knowledgeable without being to pushy.  Unfortunately their quotes were outrageously high, so high my wife and I discusses moving instead of having the windows replaced!  The 3rd interview was with Grand Rapids Glass Block and didn't go very well, we had questions about the casement windows and requested to see one but never heard back from the sales person or anyone else at Grand Rapids Glass Block.  The Home Depot Interview was good but I wasn't overly impressed with the windows.
The 1800-Hansens interview never happened because we kept hearing horror stories about them from our friends.  My wife called and canceled the meeting but they refused to take no for an answer and insisted a representative would show up.  After several minutes of arguing with them my wife finally ended up telling them if anyone shows up at our house they wouldn't be let in and hanging up.  Five minutes later we got a call from a "supervisor" at Hansens stating that someone would show up the next day.  After more shouting and threats they finally gave in and hung up.  Short story, don't even think about 1-800-Hansens unless you enjoy harassment.
My 12 year old son suggested we call Polar Seal after seeing one of their commercials on TV.  I wasn't familiar with them so I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau and Angie's List sites and they looked pretty good.  The interview process was super smooth and the salesman was very informative and not pushy at all.  The windows looked to be as good as the Anderson or Pellas and cost about HALF the price.  Polar Seal also had more color options which was a nice bonus.
After giving Polar Seal the go ahead they delivered and installed the windows about 5-6 weeks later.  The installation crew was very nice and courteous.  They kept us informed of how the progress was coming, when they would be showing up and also when they would be done.  They didn't leave a mess inside or outside of the house.  Everything looks excellent!
We did have one small issue with a window that didn't open correctly and they sent someone immediately to fix it (no charge of course).  The fix was quick and now the window works as expected.
I hadn't really heard much about Polar Seal before but I sure am glad we found out about them before we went with an inferior product or crazy expensive one.

We used this company to install windows in another part of the house a couple years ago and had absolutely no complaints from the first set of windows. The first set worked great, the installers were personable, cleaned up after themselves and did a beautiful job. We didn't even look at another company when we needed new windows in the rest of the house. Our sales representative was helpful with recommendation for some of the larger windows in the house, but it turned out, not as knowledgeable of the products as we could have wanted. The windows arrived in a timely manner. The installers were courteous, efficient and cleaned up well afterwards. We had decided on wood-look windows with wood-look wrapped framing. This material didn't seem to fit as snug to the wall as the plain wood framing that was installed a couple years ago. It's not a big deal and most people would not notice the gap unless you look at the window from the side. I can live with it, but was expecting the perfect fit we got with the previous windows. The sales rep had told us the garden window only came in a white finish. In reality, the top and sides that hold the glass panes are white, but the base and the edging where the window is secured into the wall is unfinished wood. This wood was marred by unsightly fasteners during installation. A skilled technician came out after the installation to cover the fasteners with thin sheets of clean wood, but finishing the wood was left to us. It would have been nice to know this before we ordered the window. We had ordered triple panes for all the windows. After installation, we discovered that the largest window was actually a double pane. When we questioned this, we were told the window was too large to make a triple pane. But yet we were charged for triple pane? Anyway, it took several phone calls and nearly 2 months before the difference was refunded. I wonder if we would have been refunded at all if we had not noticed the difference. The new windows did not work as well as the ones installed a couple years ago - a slight problem with the interlocking tracks. At installation, we were told this was due to how they were shipped from the manufacturer and that we should not open the windows for several months- not a problem since they were installed in the winter. Later we were told that we should open and close them frequently, just use a bit of muscle to get the tracks to interlock properly. In any case, they are covered by a warranty if they should fail. So far, they seem to be working easier or we are just getting used to putting some muscle into closing the windows.

The two men were courtesy and mindful of working in the livingroom. Careful taking down the blinds and putting them back. Did a neat and clean job during the hour and a half that it took them to do the job. They did everything the way the saleman told us it would be done. We would hire them again and refer them to others.
