    Metro Health Cascade
Prior moving to Grand Rapids I did some researcg and found that the PCPs in this office were highly rated in customer satisfaction. Unfortunately I learned first hand that the office staff is sub-par. A typical office vist would start with making a phone call, their phone lines do not open until 8:30AM, and there is always a lengthy hold time. Once an appointment was made no one would greet you when you walk in the office although there are clearly 3-4 receptionists. Never once did they give so much as a glance, smile or nod while they were on the phone to indicate they saw you and would be with you soon. Wait times once in the exam room aren't bad at all and the phyisicians I've seen have been very good and thorough. Their hours are terrible (they close daily from 12p-1:30p and promptly at 5p or even a few minutes before) and the office staff is worse. I have to call in a prescription every month and every month they get it wrong and make me wait another 24-48 hours with out prescription for their mistake. Today was the final straw for me when I called and the personal who answred the phone not only audibly yawned and told me she was "too tired' but then interrupted me multiple times and treated me poorly by answering my questions like they were dumb. I will never go back.

    Hearing Resources
I found them to be very kind in the face of what is sometimes an emotional situation. They were very professional. The audiologist I worked with managed to somehow address both my needs and my husband's needs without either of us getting honked off or hurt. She also did a very thorough testing. I have had testing through the years but I have never had some of the varieties of tests she did. It was very personalized and I didn't feel like I was another cog in the wheel. She treated me like an individual and not just another set of ears to be taken care of. Their office is very attractive and clean and in a location that is easy to get to with lots of parking. I had a challenge with the actual part of the hearing aid that goes into my ear so she changed the tip on it to fit and work better. That was a situation where I thought there were no choices. My only complaint is the price of the things and they don't set that.

    Faasse, Dr. Martin J.
Ten dollars was the co-pay. When my foot was fractured, my GP got the report back from the technician, but there was nothing wrong. I went on my own to Dr. Faasse who used a stand-up x-ray machine. When he developed it there and showed it on the wall x-ray screen, he couldn't see a fracture either. I had been hobbling in pain for a while and made my own appointment. Sitting in his chair in the examining room, I looked at it and saw something wrong. He took another look and agreed with me. My foot was then wrapped and I had a boot to wear until it was healed. The office staff is always friendly.

    Wielhouwer, Dr. Eric J.
We entered the building. Usually the waiting are has only a few people waiting although it accommodates more. After check in (which I was the only one) I was called in after about 10 minutes. Waited about 5 minutes before doctor came. Explained the problem, he agreed and removed fluid very gently and sent it off to the lab. He is an internist as well as pediatrics.

    Auburn, Dr. Ann
She excels at osteopathic manipulation. I have seen many chiropractors but she does a much better job. She prescribes nutrients much of the time rather than medicine. She also gives natural medicine when she feels it will work rather than other prescription medicines. I have had a lot of success with my health after going to her. She gives you the time you need when you go in to see her.

    West Michigan OB/GYN
The provider I had at West Michigan OB/GYN was nice and seemed trustworthy, but the practice is so huge that every time you call, you talk to a different person who has no idea who you are. The biggest problem is that the nurses who answer the phones on the medical line are very rude and uncaring for the most part. It was an okay place for routine check-ups, but once I had a problem, it was hard to get in and hard to get feedback on the results of my lab work and treatment options.

    Allergy Associates Western MI
I have found the doctor very helpful in explaining how the program works. They even listen to my ideas about what I think has been helping, such as diet change. A lot of doctors don't really listen to you, but they do. Also provided suggestions for non-medical ways to help with allergy symptoms such as removing carpet in bedroom (done, and it helped a lot) and keeping the cats out of the bedroom (can't do that if I want to stay married to my wife - and I do)
I did have a nurse at a different location (not allergy associates) give me the wrong dose once. She misplaced the decimal and I got 10X what I should have gotten. The doctor at Allergy Associates seemed genuinely concerned, and they even called to check on me afterwards even thought this did not happen at their facility.
I've been very happy with the results. My allergies affect me much less than they used to.
I'm to the point now where I get my three shots once a month instead on once a week.
It is hard going every week - I think that is what turns a l lot of people off at first, but it is worth it in the end.

I felt it went very well overall. The doctor (Thomas Miller MD) I saw did not want to treat me until he saw the results of the cat scan as he did not think we were dealing with allergies alone. Now that the infection is taken care of, the tree pollen issue can be treated with over the counter meds. I have a followup in one year - just around the time the tree pollen starts. Of course, if I have any problems, I can call in.

    Auburn, Dr. Ann
    I'm 61 and my wife is 57.
Dr. Auburn is the perfect blend for our family. First, she's an osteopath and for us that means she has all the medical training plus understands manipulation of the skeletal structure like a good chiropractor. I've always found osteopaths to be more well rounded than regular M.D.'s.

Dr. Auburn is also very much a student of natural medicine so herbs and traditional (I use this word in its real sense) healing are familiar to her. My wife and I both began with an initial meeting with her #1 assistant who is more knowledgeable than most of the doctors I have ever met. Set up for blood tests which can be done right in the building.

Once the tests were in we met with Dr. Auburn. She truly has a great manner about her. Obviously listening to what we say and responding with good questions. She gets to the heart of things pretty quickly like a doctor who has a lot of knowledge and has learned to manage her time well. Both of us have had good results with her and continue to come back.
