    Avalon Building Concepts
Back in November I hired Avalon to do a kitchen remodel and install new flooring throughout house. The guys they sent to start flooring gouged and ruined all my base boards, wrote on a freshly painted wall and started demoing the kitchen before the cabinets were even ordered. On top of this they used some of my tools and even used my oven to cook their meals. (How very professional) They were to put an arch pass through between kitchen and family room. This was not done by someone who knew what they were doing and they spent over 4 weeks and several different workers trying to get it fixed. (they want me to pay for all that labor). I have a down draft cook top that needs to be vented. I spoke with William Webb about that and said if need be I can self-vent the hood but not the cook top. He had the guys vent the hood and did nothing with the down draft. The wrong cabinets were ordered, some were cut down the fit, some were chipped and the finished damaged in installation. I was to have a custom built wine rack which was never done, they ordered from factory instead, which was more money and they never told me about that. I was to have custom shelving and I was never consulted on wood species, stain or even how many or how wide I wanted them to be. Yet, they say they built them and I have to pay for them. I haven't seen them. After constant poor workmanship and damage I finally asked them to leave and not come back. My son had assumed all communication with them and asked for invoices so we could get a final payment worked out and end the relationship. A few weeks later in a profanity laden phone call with every f bomb imaginable from Dan (owner/manager) with threats and saying they didn't have to give us anything and would be putting a lien on my house if I didn't write them a check for what they wanted. Weeks went by and I got another rude phone call from Mr. Webb threatening to put a lien on and telling me I had stalled this long enough and it was time I paid. I explained that I had never seen an invoice so they couldn't possibly put a lien on my house and it was they who were holding things up. A few days later he sent some figures. I sent back what I thought was an amiable compromise deducting what it will cost me to fix, redo and finish what they started. It has been 2 weeks and I have still not heard a thing. They have lost a lot of money on this job with poor workmanship and think I should pay for the repeated attempts to fix it.

    Jacobsen Remodeling Inc
Mr. Jacobsen was laid up from a serious accident from the time the project was started, but he was still able to keep things moving in a timely way and maintain the high quality we expected. We are very pleased!

    Lyons 5 Remodeling
Jeff has always placed a high priority on the quality of the finished project. There have been times he has found some unforeseen issues after uncovering/removing existing structures, and brought them to my attention, and wanted to do it right, even though it was going to cost more and take a little longer. He wants to do the right thing, and make sure the project is done right. I've always been satisfied with the finished product. When I had questions, he was responsive and explained things so I could understand them. He always presented a couple of options, and I never felt pressured into doing things one way or another. After presenting us with the options, he left the choices up to us. We've never regretted spending the extra money when required to make sure the job was done correctly. Jeff is also willing to provide a quick, ballpark estimate and advice when we are considering projects to save us both time. We are saving up for a partial kitchen remodel, and he gave us a budgetary number one day after taking some measurements. And finally, he has the ability and talent to hand-make custom cabinets - he was able to make built-in cabinets for an old closet in the basement and it looks like the cabinets and shelving has always been there. High-quality cabinet work and woodworking.

    HWC Home Works Corporation
It took 4 to 5 days to complete the installation. They did a first-rate job and we are very happy with the results - our kitchen is beautiful now. There were a couple of tiny details that needed to be addressed afterwards and they were very responsive.

Mr. Handyman of Greater Grand Rapids
I replaced a bathroom fan that also required replacing part of the vent duct work.  This left a couple good sized holes in the ceiling.  I thought it best to get a professional to repair drywall ceiling and I would paint it myself.  I called Mr. Handyman and a person came out and patched up the ceiling, but the results were very poor.  I called Mr. Handyman and sent them pictures of the poor work quality and they sent another person to correct the problem.  The second person was very good and the end result was that the drywall damage was undetectable.  The follow-up repair was at no charge.  While the first person did poor work, Mr. Handyman corrected the problem.  I consider myself pretty handy, but there are some jobs where experience is worth the cost of "education", like drywall work. I almost lowered the quality grade, but the end result was very good quality, so I will grade on that.

    Rockwood Construction Inc
Our kitchen remodel went very well.  There were a few hiccups along the way, and in every case, whether the issue was Rockwood's fault or not, they quickly addressed the issue.  When a cabinet arrived damaged, it caused Rockwood to have to make many more trips to our house, and they did not charge any more for the extra trips.  All of the workers were extremely professional and respected our home.  Rockwood was not the low bid, but I think they were the right choice!

    Rockwood Construction Inc
We were very pleased with Rockwood Construction Overall. Dave Gridley and Bob Sorensen are very professional and great to work with. This was a large project which started in September 2014 and finished in January 2015. We had to remove load-bearing walls and move heating/cooling ductwork and they did a great job. We were also very pleased with the extensive work that the electric employees did for the project. We had not done any remodeling prior to this, so we did not know what to expect. Obviously, there are things that go wrong for every project, but any issues we had were resolved.
    Our project included:
New Flooring, new cabinetry, new countertops & backsplash, new sink/faucet, all new appliances, enlarge and bump out existing laundry room, add wainscoting woodwork to dining area, move and reinstall all old cabinetry to garage, add new sink in garage, new woodwork/coat racks etc in laundry room, sanding/painting of banister, all new lighting fixtures.
We were also pleased  with the team of people that Rockwood employs to do the demolition and finished carpentry. We would use this company again for future projects.

    Bob's Complete Construction, Inc
I purchased 2 fans and storm door and Bob and his partner installed both in a 3 hour time window.  Because the install required access to my attic I was a little nervous about having insulation all over the bedroom floor. When they were done installing the fans they cleaned up all areas where they worked and also around the access hatch leading to the attic. Very impressed with the cleanup...never knew they had installed the fans. After the fans they installed the storm door on the front entrance. Again very pleased with the work and cleanup.

    HWC Home Works Corporation
It was one of the best, well organized companies I have dealt with!  I emailed them to set up an appointment and Valarie called me the next day to come to the house.  She was able to come out that week and was on time.  She was obviously very experienced in this line of work. She gave me not only great ideas but stayed within my price range.
They warned me they were five weeks out and would call a week before to confirm, which they did and actually started on the exact day they said they would.  Jerry was right on time and diligently worked all day, cleaning up the mess before he left.  He would also tell me what to expect the next day. The last day Jerry was out of town so Chris finished.  I thought it may be a hassle because Jerry had been at my house all week.  Chris took right over and knew exactly what needed to be done and told me he was staying until it was done.  The project started on Tuesday and Finished on Friday just like they promised.
A week later I got a thank you card in the mail.
Love the whole crew and will use them again for sure.
