    JLS BUILDERS INC
I didn't hire JLS Builders for this project, but only because I received two very close estimates for the work, and the other was from someone whom I had hired before for a large remodeling project. If I were starting from scratch, with no prior relationship with either contractor, I would have chosen JLS Builders because they have a slightly more technologically convenient communication tool for clients. And Jeff (the owner, who did the estimate) was thoroughly professional and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with his interaction with me as a potential client, as well as with his knowledge and professionalism.

We had water damage at our home. They did not handle the restoration but did the reconstruction. They were prompt with the estimate, but went weeks over the time to complete the project. The project manager was friendly and responsive, but did not have things completed to our liking on the first try. To their credit, they continued to work on our home until things were to our satisfaction. The work is now complete, and the overall team was of good quality.

They were really good. They did the work, and everything was good. The interaction was good, and I would go back to them. The countertops turned out really nice, and they are working out good, no problems at all.

Everything to like and nothing of which to complain.  TBI has done work for me over the past twenty years.  The list includes kitchen remodel, remodel two bathrooms, sunroom addition, covered deck, basement remodel after a flood (no power...no sump), replacement windows and a new roof.  It looks like I'm done with the house.  But, if I need anything else, TBI will get the business.  They do good work at a fair price and I can trust any one of their employees to be in my house at any time.  I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I could not have been more satisfied with the quality of the work and with the service provided by the contractor, Taylor Teachout, and all his subcontractors.  Everyone was not only highly skilled but pleasant to have around my home and accommodating of my schedule and the needs of my elderly mother.  Everyone was also flexible and resourceful when we inevitably hit an occasional bump in the road.  Taylor has an excellent eye for design and gave very helpful suggestions when I was unsure about choosing materials or colors.  He brought not only competence to the job but genuine enthusiasm, a desire to please and a good nature that made the whole experience pleasant when it could have been stressful.  I am looking forward to being able to do another substantial project with TBI and would recommend them without reservation.

The project took longer than anticipated, as we encountered unforeseen issues. With the soffits removed, the track lights from the adjoining family room cluttered the exposed ceiling. We decided to have both track lights removed and install recessed lights as in the kitchen. The entire ceiling from family room to the kitchen had to be repaired, textured, and painted. While everything was removed or covered, we decided to have the painter do the family room walls too, in addition to the kitchen walls. The crown molding that came with the cabinets did not fit, and another style (preferred anyway) had to be ordered. One cabinet door was the wrong size and was reordered, the next one was the wrong color. Third order finally correct. One door with large flaw at eye level had to be reordered. It never arrived. It seems the shipping company damaged it and returned it to the manufacturer, without notifying the dealer or builder. Finally, another door was ordered. My original choice of a letter-sorter above my kitchen desk was great, but too narrow. The manufacturer did not offer a wider one. After installation, I was not happy, did not feel balanced. Jeff Teachout agreed, and offered a choice of a shelf or a narrow cabinet on the side. I chose the cabinet and love it, now it is balanced. GE discontinued the range that I had selected at the beginning of the process, and a substitute was shipped, one that I did not want. Jeff allowed me to use that one until an acceptable substitution could be found, then he switched them. The space above the kitchen window over the sink was empty, and Jeff had his carpenter make a display shelf with a light underneath to fill that space. The doors for the cabinet ordered for the family room were very light-colored compared to the cabinet frame and the teak wood furniture, so Jeff stained them for a better match. He also added more electrical outlets, for more convenience. The cabinets and drawers are all soft-closing, a big plus. Now I have a beautiful, comfortable, working kitchen! Jeff and Taylor were very good to work with, understood my changes, and gave me no grief. Their crew members were all capable, courteous, and neat. The only downgrade to a B is because sometimes things seemed to drag on, but the final product was worth waiting for!

It was great working with Paxtons. They allowed me to take numerous samples home for viewing, even had a larger sample cut and polished so I could get a better idea of what the pattern would look like in a larger area. Initially I was going to have a stainless steel sink but after seeing what an integrated sink would be like, I decided to go with that. Our original lunch counter top did not have adequate leg room for adults and we wanted it wider, but not so much as to need a supporting leg. A seam was necessary on the lunch counter top, but it is so well done as to be barely visible. We are very, very happy with our beautiful lunch counter, counter tops and sink.

I liked them professionally but their estimate was high so I decided on another contractor. They were very professional and easy to work with. I would get another quote from them. I would use them if their price was competitive.

    Hatcher Construction
From initial contact with Linda Hatcher at a home show, to the finished product, the firm's professionalism and commitment to quality was outstanding! Owner Jim Hatcher and son Ian did the majority of the work, with necessary subcontractors for electrical and plumbing. Always on time, only a short break for lunch, the work ethic of these two was something of days gone by. They did everything they could to minimize the impact on our day to day living. They were very careful with our items when moving them to perform work, and throughly cleaned up every night before leaving.
The quality of their workmanship is outstanding. Very easy to work with, and made suggestions as they went along to improve the project without breaking the budget!
We have already hired them to do some additional work this fall, and I give them my highest recommendation! ( and I am very had to please)

He's been doing work pretty regularly for the past year. The great thing about Jeff, is that if there's anything I have concerns about he comes back & addresses them. He's a very trustworthy contractor. I know I can trust him to make anything right if it wasn't done right or to my satisfaction. I also know that if anything comes up in the future he'll be sure to come back & make everything right. He has great follow up & I know I can count on him in the future. He's the only one I'd have do work - He or anyone he sends I trust to be in my house whether I'm here or not which is really great.
