Chimney Repair reviews in Grand Blanc

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Smooth as I could expect. They worked with me, with the insurance company, were on time, communicated very well with me. Were honest in correcting a potential overpayment. One of the very best small businesses that I have ever dealt with.

  • Tim and his crew were fantastic.  They did an outstanding, high quality job.  He even had his guys replace a couple of bricks on the front of my garage that had deteriorated.  They left the job site very clean.   My wife was home during the repairs and Tim put her at ease.  I would use B&G again and will gladly refer them to any of my friends who need chimney work done.
    - James L.
  • They did a great job, courteous, were here on the dot, cleaned everything up, inspected everything and made recommendations.  We've burned wood for 30 years, and this is the third, and best, sweep we've had.  It really helps when the guys are smiling, and enjoy their work.  Due to the extra work, they gave us a discount.  They recommended some additional work, which I had a feeling needed to be done, and they'll most likely be back to do it after an estimate is made back at the shop!  Good work, good people.

  • I dont usually write reviews but Tim did a fantastic job and its worth a few moments to let other potential customers know what a great job he did. His prices were competitive and fair, he was on time for the quote and to the job site, the area was clean when he left, and the chimney looks great. Its been a thorn in my side for several years knowing I needed to get that repaired. I dreaded dealing with contractors and getting bids.of all the guys I had come out for bids (5) he was by far the most professional. This job alone was worth paying for Angies List to see all the great reviews Tim had. I felt better going into it knowing that others had been happy with his work, and know I am too. Thanks Tim at B&G masonry, thanks Angies list, and thanks to other members for leaving reviews to help my decision making process.

  • I chose Motor City Builders because Dave was the only one who actually went up on the roof prior to giving me his bid.  He found a hole around the chimney and said the spot needed a saddle. MCB's price was higher than the other 2, but I felt confident the job would be done right due to Dave's thoroughness in his inspection.  The roofers were polite and professional.  They had to come back a second day due to the amount of plywood they needed to replace.  They cleaned up the area very well and the dumpster was removed the following day.  The new gutter was installed several days later.  The installers arrived around 5:30 in the evening but soon discovered they didn't have enough material to complete the job.  They said they would go to the wholesaler in the morning and be back around 8:30 AM.  They arrived about 11:00, but finished in less than an hour.
Included in the agreed upon bid was "build new chimney saddle". Repairs requiring additional plywood for the roof were specified as "not in bid".  There was no such specifications attached to the chimney saddle.  While they were in the process of roofing I asked the crew chief  about the saddle and he said the flashing would do the job.  When Dave came to pick up the final payment I took him outside and showed him there was no saddle.  He said it was his fault for not telling the crew.  He assured me that the flashing would do the same thing.  We came back in the house and as I prepared to write out the check I asked if there could be a price adjustment ($57.00) due to the fact that the saddle was in the original bid.  Dave said, "Well, I didn't charge you for it anyway".  There was NO indication in the bid that the saddle would be an additional expense. I do not feel that I was treated fairly.

  • It took several days to complete the job and remove their scaffolding due to wind and rain, but it looks real good, with the new brick and mortar being a very good match to the original. I'm, so far, very happy with the work!
    - James M.
  • Completed in less than a day. Worked very hard, without stopping. It was sunny and hot up there. Helped me climb up on the roof to view the work, and explained what he had done. Complete clean up, and was careful about the shrubbery.I am thoroughly pleased with the work, and Tim, the mason. I believe that the chimney has been improved from its original construction. I would recommend him and B & G for any brick masonry.
