  • The car went in for scheduled maintenance which included oil change, air filter replacement and spark plug replacement.  For which I was charged over $600! In addition I had asked them to find and repair a slow coolant leak which had recently developed. They traced the leak to a cracked coolant manifold, which they replaced for $800!!  When they pressure tested the system afterwards, they said the water pump had gone bad, so they replaced that as well and charged me $1400!!! After getting my car back I noticed that the heat had stopped working and the car's coolant temperature kept fluctuating.  I suspected air bubbles in the system so after running the car for 7 miles I "burped" the coolant system.  To my surprise, the coolant boiled out and I could hear water gurgling throughout my engine. A quick check showed that my coolant was just water and NO antifreeze. I drained and refilled my system with a proper 50/50 water/antifreeze mix and the temperature fluctuations stopped, but still no heat. So I flushed the heater core and to my surprise a 6 inch length of green string came shooting out.  The string looked a lot like the string that accompanies parts tags. I put the system back together and the heat worked just fine. Then the engine started running rough and my check engine light came on.  A code check showed a misfiring spark-plug.  A check of that plug showed the insulation on it was cracked.  When I went to pull the plug, it was stuck quite tightly and took a large amount of force to remove.  Once removed, the plug looked quite worn and not what I would expect from a plug that was supposed to have been replaced just 60-70 miles previously. This is not the first time maintenance has been done improperly on my car at this dealer, nor the first time new problems have appeared right after getting my car back from them.  I will not be using them again.

Update: Despite all the expensive "fixes" I still had a coolant leak.  I finally took it to another mechanic who said such leaks are common in Audi's because the gaskets on the coolant reservoir caps go bad.  He replaced the cap on the coolant reservoir for $15 and the problem was truly fixed.

  • All three used cars I have purchased have been great cars.  I purchased them between 2008 and 2012 and all are still running great. I trust Ken and will be checking with him again the next time I need a car.

  • My college-aged son had a flat tire. He was prepared to buy a new tire. The guys at
Discount Tire said it was still a good tire and they would look for the
leak/hole first. The found a nail, fixed the leak and did not charge him
anything. We will be going back again!

  • I have been dealing with them for 20 years. The quality is great. I needed something done and he did it on the spot, that quick. He looked at it and made a phone call and he had the part and he was done within an hour.

  • The day after being serviced, the car's low oil pressure light came on.  An oil check showed it was more than two quarts overfilled. The car was towed to Maple Hill. They denied the oil was overfilled saying the level showed normal when they checked it.   After pointing out raw oil residue around the exhaust, a statement from the tow truck driver saying he had towed another car to Maple Hill a few weeks earlier for overfull oil, and internet articles describing identical symptoms to my car's that were the result of overfilling the oil, Maple Hill conceeded that the oil was overfilled. They blamed it on drain lines that were clogged by small plastic peices that broke off when they replced the plastic ports. They said the ports are prone to shattering during replacement and it is a known problem on Audi's. In the end the best they would do is cover the labor charges if I agreed to pick up the cost of the new drain lines that had to be installed and they refused to cover the cost of the tow truck, since "it was not their fault". The car has been back three times since with problems for emission sensor malfunctions, and a problem with stuck 'cam lifters'(??).  Each time the car has developed some other minor problem (loose turn signal bulbs, loose battery cable, low oil, low brake fluid) the day after being serviced by Maple Hill.

  • I had a clunking under the front of my car. Call Larry at Auto Remedies and got an appointment very quickly.  Droped off the car and he called me within the half hour told me what the problem was and the price. I had him do the work and picked up my car later that day. The clunking was gone and I was a happy camper.

  • I called Auto Remedies on 7/13/2011. I was heading south on the 16th so I need to get in pretty quick. They got  me in on the 15th. (It would've been sooner but I wanted Valvoline Oil and they had just ordered more)  I talked to Larry about being my full time mechanic as my manufacturer warranties had all ran out. (I have a 2008 Saturn Vue)  I told him I wanted someone I could trust to keep my car in good shape and not take advantage of me.  To keep me updated on when repairs/replacements would be needed. (Belts, breaks, etc.) He said that is what brings back repeat customers and that's what he wants and the only way to do that is being honest and doing a good job. Took my car in at 9am and got it back at 10am. I will be making him my only mechanic.
