    Sears Home Services
We recently had our washing machine repaired by Sears home service, under our maintenance agreement. The service man was very professional when he came to inspect the systemand identify the parts needed for the job.  However, that is where the quality of service became unsatisfactory. Our trouble began when they returned to replace the necessary parts, a week after the initial date of service, and continued to go downhill from there. First, no one informed us that it is the customer's responsibility to dispose of the unservable parts. Upon coming home on August 2d, I found the two large boxes still sitting in our garage. I call their 800 number and was told there would be someone out to pick them up, I waited another week, with no results. When it appeared to on effort to correct the problem, I called their 800 number again on to be told this time, that it was our (the customer's) responsiblitiy to dispose of any parts left by their service personnel. Every other service company I have had dealings with has made sure any equipment or partsleft behind would be cleaned up and taken by them. This is NOT the case with Sears. They failed to take those parts and more importantly, failed to inform the customer before any work is done that they would be responsible for the dispose of any unserviceable parts. Because of the size of these items, I was required to obtain a larger vehicle and pay to leave them at the local dump.
I would have to rate the repairman as a "A", howerer the response fo  the store/custtmer support would be an "F"

    Mr Appliance
Called the repair number found on line. Found out it was an answering department that had a number of repair people in southern Michigan.  Made an appointment for a repair person to come the next day (tuesday) between 9-11. There was to be a $80 service call if the work was not done. He showed up at 9:45 - diagnosed the problem - but did not have the part in his truck - one had to be ordered. On thursday we were called and told he would be there between 11-1 that afternoon.  He came at 12:30 and had the new part installed by 1. He told us there was a 1 year parts abd labor guarantee.
Over all it cost us $250 ... which seems a bit high but who really knows?

When I called the service number, I told the scheduler what I needed and she said it would be 6 days to get the part.
The technician arrived six days later without the part.
Then he charged me $90 to tell me I needed a new drain pump, which is what I told them in the first place.
Then I was told it would be 6 more days to get the part, the pump would cost $109, and I would be charged another $57 for the trip out to install it.
    I told them 'no thanks.'
Ibought the pump at a local store that afternoon for $38 and installed it myself in under an hour.
