AThe delivery experience was particularly significant. Although nothing went the right way (I ended up having a C-section because of baby's head/pelvic canal mismatch), Dr. Traenkle was always supportive of our choices and never tried to force decisions on us. Since the baby was not showing signs of distress, she kept us informed of what was going on and waited until we were ready to proceed the only possible way (labor lasted 41 hours). She stayed close to me and assisted me very empathetically when I got scared. It made all the difference, she was wonderful.

AWe have always been impressed with the time Casandra spends with us on each visit. If needed we have had referrals to solve major problems that were found due to the extra time and patience spent with us. We have been using them since 2006.

AThe staff is great and I have been going there for 30 years. The waiting room is spacious, comfortable and quite. I would recommend them to a friend. If you have problem they will work you in. They are professional and friendly and they try to know the patients.

FAt my appointment 2 weeks prior to giving birth, I brought my birth plan with the intent of having it placed in my file so it would be available when I went in to have my baby. Instead, Dr. Cook looked it over when he got my file. I was asked if I was comfortable with an intern attending the appointment, I said yes. I waited in a private room for half an hour, during this time, I could hear Dr. Cook in the hallway talking to--I assume--a nurse and the intern. I clearly heard him reading parts of my birth plan and stopping to laugh out loud with the 2 people he was talking to. By the time he came into the room he forgot all about everything else and had me sit near him to discuss the birth plan. I was uncomfortable with the idea because although I knew he could be the one in the delivery room, he wasn't my chosen doctor. He looked at the paper in front of him and said something about how I had all these plans for my birth like it was so long (really, it was just, no interventions, nothing crazy) and then told me, "this is my plan," and proceeded to say there were three things: to have the baby in the fastest, safest, most comfortable way possible. I agreed with part of that. I don't think speed is of any importance. He also told me I needed to be constantly hooked up to a monitor and an IV so I was not free to move around at all. (This was partly true, I did end up being monitored throughout labor but I was able to move as far as the cords would allow and was able to get unhooked from everything but my saline IV to use the bathroom.) There was a part in my plan to avoid the use of routine pitocin after delivery. He said I had to have it in case I had uterine rupture and I started hemorrhaging (which happens about .5% of the time) and when I asked what I had to do to so I wouldn't get it he said something along the lines of, fine but when you start hemorrhaging I'll tell them I told you to have it and you said no. By the end of the appointment he was acting as if all of my choices were a direct hit against him. Fast forward to Tuesday March 20th. I had been completely harassed on Monday to come in for a c-section because the doctors thought my due date was a week before. I had to come in for a non-stress test and my blood pressure was high but all the other tests checked out fine. After much convincing they finally agreed that my due date was indeed March 21st as I had been saying the entire pregnancy. When I checked in to the birthing center he was walking up to the counter and looked right at me but never smiled or acknowledged us in any other way. The next time I saw him, I was in the triage room having my contractions monitered, they were about 4 minutes apart. My blood pressure was still high but they ran blood tests and everything was still okay there. When Dr. Cook walked into triage he did not say "hi," he did not ask how things were going, he immediately started yelling at us for asking to stand up (I was forced to lay in bed but I was very uncomfortable due to back labor). He continued scolding us for the high blood pressure and saying we would need to have a c-section. When my husband tried to interrupt to explain that my tests all came back fine for preeclampsia and that we were really just trying to have a safe VBAC in the hospital and could he please cooperate with us, Dr. Cook interrupted to say, "I'm not finished!" It felt like our wishes were completely being ignored by him. The nurses were all very supportive of us and seemed very comfortable about my situation. They said if it came right down to it, I could sign a few papers and get out of there if I needed to and I was free to fire him at any time. He left after that and eventually left the building to sleep. My labor slowed for a few hours and by the time I was ready to have the baby, my chosen doctor was on call and everything went beautifully. No pitocin, and no hemorrhaging! (Just a side note, I weigh around 100 lbs not pregnant and my baby was 10lbs. Go VBACs!)

DFemme Vitale has great offices and an amazing staff! All except Dr. Carins himself.. If you are looking for moral condemnation and guilt rather than informative medical advice than he's your guy. I left feeling guilty and with many questions still that I thought I could go to a doctor for. I have been in a serious relationship and when I told him I was having s** with my boyfriend he gave me pamphlets on how to "do the right thing" and stop having any sexual contact until marriage. I appreciate his morals, but was not paying to come hear them, but to have a standard medical check up without his judgements.

AMichele Gardner MDShe is wonderful. She has been taking really good care of me. I went in this last time for her to check my vitamin levels in my blood because my bone scan showed osteoporosis and she knows you have to have vitamin B with the calcium. She follows through with everything. Previously she ordered the bone scan and when she got the osteoporosis diagnosis she started checking what I need because calcium by itself won't do it you gotta have other nutrients for your bones. That's what I love about her, she never drops the ball she checks everything out. For example she saw my vitamin D was low so she told me what I needed to take over the counter. Right away she tells you and says she wants to see you back in 2 months to see how I was doing. She doesn't just let you go and forget about you, she makes sure we are improving. That's what I love about her. She answers all questions, takes time with you, she explains things, looks at all the possibilities, looks at everything about you that could be relevant and your lifestyle, checks what you are thinking about things and how you want to deal with stuff. You feel like you are really taking responsibility for your health with her help. I would recommend anybody to go to someone like her because she is amazing.- Mary B.

ADickinson County Healthcare SystemThe birthing center at Dickenson County Hospital is wonderful. I attended birthing classes, breast feeding classes and gave birth there. The nurses were so friendly and reassuring throughout the birthing process and the days that followed. They want out of their way to show me infant care tips. I would definitely recommend this facility and its staff.- Laura J.

ASuperior Women's CareAll the doctors that I have dealt with have been great, and the same with the nurses. The receptionists can come off a little cold sometimes, but everyone else is so nice that it makes up for it. Everyone always took the time to listen to any concerns I had and never brushed anything off.- Kristen C.

AOB/GYN of Big RapidsI showed up for my appointment and waited maybe 5 minutes tops. They are usually pretty quick about you not having a crazy long waiting room period. The staff is super nice and always helpful. I see Dr. Parks, and have been seeing him since I first found out that I was pregnant in July of 2011. He is an amazing doctor. Always willing to answer any questions that I have and takes the time to explain everything in detail for me. He did an awesome job on the delivery of my daughter and I hope he is around for when I have more children.- Amanda W.
