    Motor City helped us transform a lake front cottage into a family home. 900 Sqft of addition were added to the existing home. ~75% of the existing structure was demolished and rebuilt. The job required a lot of ingenuity and creativity. Dave and his crew helped us from the design phase through the building process making necessary adjustments through the life of the project. Communication was always open and honest and we are very happy with the quality of work.

    Matt and his crew: Marvin, Joe and Henry are exceptional guys who are easy to talk to but tend to business and work hard. Marvin worked at ripping out the old driveway in one day with a backhoe and the next day the guys framed the job to be done. The day of paving came next and the four of them worked well together and had a good sense of having each others back as the cement flowed. The day after the laying of the pavement they can back to saw cut to prevent cracks. I was very pleased with the job they did and would hire them again.

    This is a public adjuster company that came out to our house after we had a hot water tank blow and flood our basement in May. Joe came out and was very nice saying that they were going to fight for us. Spent over an hour at the house. He sent out the contract and said that the owner Gary would deal with the insurance company. A week went by and we hadn't heard anything. My husband called Gary a week after we had signed the contract to get an update. Gary said why do we want a quick gratification, that he'll contact us when he's ready. My husband replied saying I don't want gratification, I want communication. Gary then replied saying in a very aggressive manner, saying we're not doing business and then proceeded to hang up the phone. I called the main office calling for Joe to let him know and to get our contract back to cancel the contract. Gary got on the phone to let me know that Joe works for him and we are no longer doing business. I asked him that I needed to know how I was going to get my contract back to cancel it. He then hung up on me. I called the office back and told the girl that I needed my contract back and she let me know that it was going to be in the mail.
    All we wanted to do was get an update on what was going on. Gary didn't want to give us an update and decided he would rather do business with people who do not need updates.

    We had a house fire on 10/29/2011 in which we lost everything, including our home. Our nightmare had just begun. A friend of my husbands for over 30 years owned a home improvement company and we thought we could trust him, so we hired his company J&E Home improvement. Turned out to be the worst mistake we could have ever made. It started out good but that didn't last long.Neighbors complained of his loud and abusive rants on his employees.  I was sent on many shopping trips to pick doors, bathroom vanity's and faucets. Only to be told that it was not in the budget. So in February of 2012 I started asking for a budget. Never receiving one. Then in May of 2012 I fired J&E, when we went to the house to remove employees from there, thats when one of his employees told us that we may want to reconsider because another contractor will not want to finish another contractors work. So we left them on the job. In May is when I asked for an itemized list of what had been spent and on what so far and what I received was a "spread sheet" that anyone could make. One of the big things was his "payroll" we were being charged this had to be a mistake over $5,000.00 for 2 days! He only had 3 employees working here most of the time only 2. Over $12,000.00 in 13 days. We finally moved onto our house the end of July.So much was still left to do. We had final inspection on Aug 9th 2012 with our insurance agent in which we were given final payment and our agent told us to hold the payment until everything was done.This is also when I found out that he had sent a letter to our insurance company in my name that I did NOT have anything to do with.   We still had 15 temporary light fixtures,no bathroom mirrors, siding not done, the front and back porch ceilings were coming down, major problem was a wall in the crawl space was not complete insulation was put up to make it look like there was a whole wall, we had to run a space heater all winter. We had already put almost $10,000.00 of our own money into a house that he was being paid to do. He put a lien on our home on Aug.14th 2012 through this process I find out that one of the insurance checks sent to J&E had a signature on it but it was NOT my signature. We went to mediation and this was such a joke! We knew after first talking to the mediator he did not like our professional witness on what was left to do. We to make a very long story short, you guessed it He got paid!!!! I am still shaking my head. How can you forge checks and letters to an insurance company and not finish a job but still get Paid??? If anyone wants pictures of this job I have them. I have all paperwork involved. If you hire this company GOOD LUCK!

    Dave & team built me a two car detached garage on new concrete, complete except no insulation and no electricity per my preference, plus he replaced about a thousand square feet of old concrete driveway. The project was slow getting started because of Fall rain and wind, but once underway it went quickly and well. I like the quality of the actual construction. Dave is easy to work with and seems to know his stuff. His initial quote, without the driveway work, was higher than another contractor, but I chose him because of his reviews here and something negative I heard about the other guy. The construction work by itself would have gotten an "A". The "C" overall grade is because the various trucks, particularly the heavy readymix truck and the roofing materials hoist truck, drove across and parked on the soft lawn to access the construction location, instead of accessing it from the driveway. This resulted in about a thousand square feet of deeply rutted mud where nice flat lawn had been. Dave didn't mention that that was the plan, and I didn't realize I needed to ask. His assumption per our after-the-fact discussion was that I would have known I'd have to have that area filled, graded and re-sodded at my own expense next Spring. I wasn't happy with that aspect of the outcome when he said he was done. After he initially proposed that we would split the cost of having it fixed, Dave agreed to bring in fill dirt and smooth out the area at his cost. Getting it actually level after the new dirt settles, and seeding or sodding it, and all the work to eventually get it to a good smooth lawn again will be my problem. I understand that after the lawn damage was done and the work to fix it wasn't in Dave's quote, there wasn't anything good for him to do about it. It was too late in the Fall to fix it beyond what he offered to do, and did at his expense. I just wish that I'd known up front that he planned that access for the trucks. I might have changed my mind about whether having the garage built was a good idea. It was an unfortunate problem, because other than the lawn issue everything about the job, from estimate interactions to build quality to construction cleanup, went very well.

    We had a house fire in 2011 in which we lost everything including our home. We then hired J & E because the owner of the company Jim Nelson was someone my husband had known and thought was a friend for.over 20 years. With this man things went from bad to worse. When trying to choose anything for this house from faucets to flooring it was always not in budget or did you have it before. We were charged over and over for things that we paid for or my husband and family did. My husband worked on our house everyday for months our family joined in on working on this house every weekend because no one from his company would be here for weeks at a time,but yet we were charged for labor in those weeks. J & E could not meet a deadline because there were only 2 people from his company that worked most of the time on this house. We called his company 2 men and a hammer. My husband and family done the rough plumbing, sheated the entire house put almost 10,000.00 dollars of our money into the house. We finally moved into the house the end of July 2012 almost 3 months past the deadline. The house was still not finished. We held the final payment until the house was finished but then Jim from J&E put a lien on our home and we were at a stand still. Well after 1 year he got his payment and we have to finish this house. Which is 15 temporary light fixtures (installed to pass inspection) mirrors in bathrooms, siding left unfinished, ceiling on front porch and back porch falling down,deck floor not finished, nails popping up through floor, screen doors, wall in crawl space that was not done and insulation was put up to make it look like there was a wall this was a major screw up causing us to run a space heater all winter because we were not aware it was like that. Which cost us in higher consumer bills. We now realize that  the owner Jim Nelson who is an over sized, loud mouth bully that intimidates his employees and customers should never have been hired to do this job. And to anyone that has already hired him pay close attention to where you money is going. If he is willing to do this to a close friend he will do it to anyone.

    Del gave me an estimate and it was more than fair. He told me the price may go up if he ran into rotted boards on the roof, etc. The price did go up but by very little.
    Del was very professional, gave me a written estimate and stuck to it. He completed the work in the time frame he gave plus one day. The one day was added because of the weather (rain).
    I was very pleased with the work Del did and his helpers. He did a fantastic job of cleaning up afterwards. I have found no debris left in the yard whatsoever.
    Del was recommended to me by a co-worker. I will recommend him to everyone I know.

    After choosing a select few of materials, color, textures and styles at the store the salesperson came out to our home to help with the final selection of our kitchen counter top. They also prepared us to make arrangement with a plumber to disconnect and reconnect the connections during the installation.
    The date was set for someone to come out and do the measuring and gave us an approximate date for installation.
    As promised the product was cut, finished and prepared at their workshop. Delivered and installed without a problem. A perfect fit!!
    We are extremely happy with their work and guidance.

    We signed the work order for the work to be done. Everyone from the sales staff to the builders were very friendly and helpful.
    They made arrangements with the township zoning office for approval and the utility company to mark underground lines.
    In one days time they set the supports, floor, walls, windows and roof. All professionally done.
