We were already frequent customers of theirs and used them a lot in the past before requesting their help with a large amount of projects within our Dental Clinic that required a handyman. We mailed a %50 deposit for work, and they didn't even finish half of the work before they became completely unresponsive to emails, phone calls and voicemails. They left us with an uncompleted job an no explanation, and we have never been able to get in tough with them to reschedule the remaining work that we have a signed agreement with them for and already paid for half the work. Huge disappointment and very unprofessional.

Had appointment time for 4:00 pm. Dale called me at my home at 2:00 pm and said he was in the area could he come by. Unfortunately, I could not meet with him because I was 30 minutes away and watching my grandson at that time. He replied ok ill see you at our scheduled time. I was at the home at 4:00 and stayed until 5:30. NO Show for Dale and No CALL.... Thanks for being professional !!

Upon signing the contract I was told it would take 3-5 days. I said that was extremely ambitious and stated that it could not be completed within that time due to the number of repairs and areas of replacement. Oh no, I was told, 3-5 days. I said I would allow 30 days and for every day thereafter, I would deduct $100 from the balance. OK. Agreed. I gave a 50% deposit and 2 weeks went by before anyone showed up to the job site. The first day when they (workers - no "boss")  did show up, I had other contractors there doing outside work, the flooring guys sat in the driveway for 2 hours waiting for the "boss". Same thing the next day. My contractors said that he had the key and would let them in as he would be on the property for the next several hours. Well, this became the regular, for the flooring guys to gain access by my other contractors as the "boss" was continuously absent, and never there when he told his workers to meet him there.
One area of flooring was removed (approx 6' x 8') and the new flooring was being laid, my contractor asked the floor guys why the flooring was not being nailed. The flooring guys said they were planning on face-nailing it once it was completely laid. My contractor called me, I call the "boss" and said that told them that they were NOT going to do any face-nailing. When I got to my property, the "boss" was there and I was informed that the 2 flooring guys had been fired (although they were doing as instructed- he fired them to make it look like they chose to lay the floor without nailing).
Days went by without ANY activity or work being done. Then I was informed that the "boss" was leaving for Las Vegas 6 days before my job was supposed to be completed! (the repairs were not even completed yet)!  He assured me that he had his "best" guy to complete it and the job would be completed within the 30 days I allowed, not the 3-5 days I was told initially.
Long story short, I have just sued him in Court. And, he did not appear to defend his work.
The floors were NOT filled as I requested and now have clear coat in the cracks so I can never have them filled. It was obvious that it needed more coats of the finish coat as you could see in the reflection, the wood grain was not totally covered. The new flooring to the existing flooring did NOT match but I was never advised (until after the fact) that I needed to add a stain coat to get some consistency.
A few days later, his "best" guy informed him in Las Vegas that the job was done (3 days past the time I allowed, not the 3-5 he initially told me) and he immediately started blowing up my phone to get paid. It was too early to even walk on it to inspect as his guy was only finished for 4 hours, but he wanted to get paid. I ignored his calls as I was taking care of another property and had a few days to finish up so I just figured that I would allow the floors to cure before I walked on them. I waited a long time to get this floors refinished, so I can wait a few more days for cure time to see these floors. He not only continued to blow up my phone but my contractor's phone as well. He expressed to my contractor (whom has been on the job for me for 25+ years) that he was afraid that he was not going to get paid, and she better pay me, blah, blah, blah, and I did the work and if I don't get paid, heads are going to roll kinda of talk!
Well, I finally after two days of his "best" guy finishing the job, I went to the property to see the floors. I could not believe what I saw! I call the "boss" immediately in Las Vegas and told him that I NOT at all satisfied. Plus, all the debris and trash from the job was still there, and they spilled the clear coat all over my back porch!!! Didn't even attempt to wipe it up! Big blobs of clear coat.
The livingroom is 64' and from one end to the other I could see serious dips in the floor. Not in areas where you would expect wear but throughout the entire livingroom (the original floors were in great shape other than my having replaced 32" doors with 36" doors, and the previous owner's were cat rescue people and allowed that cats every freedom as to where to go to the bathroom. This house was built in the 60's the floors were in excellent shape structurally- until the "best" guy got to them with a sander).
So... he said that he would get his "best" guy on the phone and have him come over and take out the trash.
His "best" guy did in fact, show up. He was the only person that did the finish part of the job. I walked him through to show him what my complaints were. He totally agreed with everything I pointed out. He informed me of a few things of interest: # 1. The reason why my new planks were not being nailed down as they were being laid was the "boss" did not provide a nailer as his nailer was on a job in Port Huron where a home owner ordered the project stopped and would not return his tools, #2. The "boss" did not provide filler for the floors so consequently the floors didn't get filled, #3. The "boss" never did a walk through with his "best" guy and merely gave instruction off-site.
I felt sorry for this "best" guy as he had not been paid from a previous job so was really relying on me paying  the "boss" so he could get paid for my job in addition to the other. I did give the guy $100. He was nearly in tears knowing that he was NOT going to get paid as I was no way going to settle up with the "boss" while he was away and not available to address these issues.
The "boss" called me a few times over the next week demanding money, and offering to do a complete redo BUT, I had to pay him the balance due before he would even come to the job site to inspect his work.
DO NOT left this guy near your house!!!! Big Zero!!!!

I hired them on Friday, 8/29/2014, Dan said the repair and refinishing would take 4-5 days. He said they would be there Monday, September 1st. On Monday Dan came but did not realize it was Labor Day and he did not have all the supplies that he needed to start sanding or do the repair. So he had one of his workers, Troy, start the repair in the dining room. He worked on it for a few hours and left. On Tuesday Dan and his crew went to get the supplies that they needed and did not get to my house until the afternoon. The next day Troy was there and finished up the repair and they started sanding. They could not match up the flooring to flow from the dining room into the living room so they were going to put a threshold down. Dan brought the threshold and nailed it down but it was not level and was not as wide as the doorway. Troy took it up and sanded the floors so it would lay flatter. But when he nailed it back down it cracked, and now it had more holes in it from the nails, it did not look good. So Dan took it back up and would get me another one. They put three coats of  polyurethane down but the floor still had dry-looking areas and you could see where the sander left marks all along the wall in the kitchen and dining room. They did not sand under the cabinets and it looked dirty from the old finish. Dan said he would return because he still had the new threshold to put down.
I called him for three weeks or more and he never returned my phone calls. I finally went to the address on the work order and spoke with Dan's father about my floors and the lack of communication from him. His dad called him up right there and Dan agreed to come over that night to look at the floors.
He came over and looked at the floors and agreed to redo them. He said he had his daughter for the upcoming weekend so I agreed to let him start the next weekend. I moved all my furniture back out of the rooms and I never heard from him all week and finally had to call his dad and then Dan called and said his equipment was locked up in a house that he is doing and the lady left town for the weekend and he didn't have a key to get it. I told him I needed to get my furniture back in the house because now it is late October and my good furniture was on the front porch and the added stress of having my house in disarray with everything stacked in the sun room and back bedroom where I work from home and can hardly walk to my desk.
He had two other employees, Jed and Mark, come that week and say that the floors looked terrible and they were going to re-sand and do the job right. They only worked on my floors for a day and a-half and left and went to another job site without telling me they were not returning that day. I thought they had went to lunch.  No one returned for several days and Dan did not keep me informed on what was going on and when someone would be returning. Finally Jed returned on Saturday and was surprised the floors weren't finished. He worked on them and came back the following week to finish the sanding and coat the floor with the polyurethane. They did not vacuum the floor before laying down the polyurethane and there was dust, dirt, grass and hair under the coat of polyurethane.
Dan came back after I called him several times to tell him the floors looked terrible and the sanding in front of the refrigerator  was very uneven and looked terrible.
Dan returned on the weekend with his daughter to re-sand and smooth the floors again. He finally put a new threshold down between the dining room and living room. There was also a puddle of polyurethane in the hallway that had to be fixed and you could see swirl marks from the sanding in the finish. After he put the coat of polyurethane down and it dried, he missed a big area in the hallway. He came back on Sunday to put the last coat of polyurethane down and again, his vacuum did not pick up hardly any of the dust and debris on the floors. I got my shop vac out and went behind his daughter to sweep up as much of the dirt as I could.
I am not happy with my floors, the sanding is very uneven and the floor has junk under the finish and it took 11 weeks to get him to finish the job. I just wanted to get my house back in order, my good furniture off of the front porch as it had been cold and raining during the time it was outside. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

    Finish It Custom Carpentry
Trever Johns is extremely conscientious about his work and is very detail oriented.  His work is excellent and he is very honest and trustworthy.  He has done many jobs for us over the years and we have always been extremely satisfied.  He arrives on time and makes sure he has cleaned up each day.  We have left town several times while he was doing work for us and we left him with a key and our alarm code without thinking twice about it.  His custom carpentry is beautiful!

We are repeat customers and this is another work order request of several we have had HFAD do in our other home.  We recently moved to a new home and hired them to update electrical for appliances; remove old and install new washer, dryer, and fridge.  Chris and Jim arrived promptly and worked diligently.  They had been assigned to a couple of the other jobs in our previous home so we were pleased to have them back!  They do great work, and they genuinely seem to enjoy working with each other. Both are very friendly an good representatives of the company.  They seemed comfortable with us as we are with them, and overall they made this service call yet another great experience.  They had worked several hours, went to Home Depot to obtain additional needed supplies and materials, working consistently and confidently.

I greatly appreciate that both Jim and Chris are very knowledgeable and seem to care about doing a good job.  I do feel that I am getting quality work as I am very pleased with the outcome.  Also, I appreciate that they take the time to explain things to me.  They showed me the water line and water filter system for the refrigerator and how to service it annually.  They even priced out the cost of replacement filters for me while they were at Home Depot.  They also explained a few things on how the septic and sump pump worked, and general maintenance tips, etc.  I take away some valuable learning tips about how things work when I ask them questions, and they don't mind that I ask them.  I also like that they make me feel as though they care about my home as I would want done.  These are valued service skills not often found from service people these days.

An important notable comment is that Chris has exceptionally good interpersonal skills and does a great job of building positive professional rapport with customers.  While I knew that the work they were doing was going to be more than the initial estimate of roughly $350-400, it was more than I had expected.  When the work was finished, he respectfully came in and sat down with me and my husband, showed us the itemized list of parts and work performed with all the related receipts.  He just had a kind, thoughtful way of approaching that uncomfortable moment when you have to ask the customer for payment in full.  He was notably supportive and explained all the charges.  Even though the price ended up to be $615, I feel this was a fair and accurate bill including labor and all.  They were here for several hours and were absolutely great to have working in our home.  I would never hesitate to hire this company and any of their employees.  However, these two are particular stand-outs as stellar employees for HFAD in my family's opinion.

Very professional  from the estimate to the actual work.  The job was over two days,  they arrived on time and got right to work.  they were friendly and knowledgeable.  They let me know when they were leaving for lunch and when they would return.  They cleaned up and discarded any debris that resulted from the work they were doing.   Bathroom floor looks great and the front door and screen door are sturdy and secure.

    John the Handyman Construction
John did good work and in a timely manner, but be sure you spell out exactly what you want done and don't make any assumptions. My only disappointment was in the Side Garage door that I asked him to paint. I asked him to paint it and assumed that he would sand it first, but he did not. Perhaps I should have told him that I wanted the door sanded before painting, but I think he should have asked about that. The job was done in late fall and time was of the essence, so that was a contributing factor. Like I said, spell out exactly what you want done, and you should be happy with the work.

This is the second time we used this company. It is a family run business with prompt, knowledgeable, and professional services. On this visit, Jim and Chris did an excellent job, completing 99% of the work in the same day. They will return to replace a couple of parts on a back side porch light, and to replace the transition strips they installed on the floor. They are being replaced because we wanted silver rather than goldstone - purely pickiness on our part. When I asked about changing it, they didn't scoff and assured that it was no problem. I sincerely appreciate the polite, kind service I receive from Andrea when setting up estimates, arranging costs, and scheduling service. She makes the experience for customers very easy. When I spoke to her the first time I casually mentioned finding them on Angie's List and she gave me the Angie's List discount on all the labor charges on my estimate. I really value that! The experiences I have had with the six or seven people that have worked with us so far have all been very positive. Everyone is professional, polite, very knowledgeable, and I felt confident that they were doing great work for me. The end results are excellent. My family is very pleased with the work that this company has done. Highly, highly recommend!

I filled out a request for quote using their website.  I was contacted the next day to set up an appointment for someone to come out and evaluate the window to do a quote.  I received the quote back in a few days and after a few emails, we realized that the quote reflected replacing the window entirely, as opposed to just repairing the broken glass.  We cleared up the scope of the work that needed to be done and I was contacted soon after to schedule a date for the window to be repaired.
The handyman was very punctual (both for the evaluation for quote and for doing the repair).  They had assumed 2 days to get the job done, but he was able to finish it in about half of a day.  The repair was done well and he was very professional during the entire process.  I would definitely use them again.
