We started off by having Bill's crew come to seal the basement floor. The estimate was about what I was expecting to pay, and boy -- did we get our money's worth! The concrete was in worse shape than they thought, and Bill and his team spent a lot of time making my floor smooth and new-- far newer than a 100 year old home should have! We did hit a hiccup when I came home to a fair amount of dust all over my house-- Bill made that right, too, without making me beg, cry or swear. Beyond the skill and finished product, it is worth noting that getting an estimate, getting a contract, getting work started and completed -- all of that happened in a timely, professional manner. They were very thoughtful of my home, my cats, my bathroom. Because that went so well and finished on time, we got to talking about having the fieldstone walls addressed as the mortar had been repaired (poorly) over the years, and was turning to dust in other areas. He gave us a quote that we couldn't resist, and brought the team back just a day later to start working on the walls. The stone has never looked better-- I would argue that it looks artistic, just beautifully mortared and sealed so that it will always make the colors of the stone shine. Being a caring craftsman, Bill also took care of other extraneous details -- he painted drain caps to match the floor (even though we bought them well after that work was completed). He also painted our 9 basement window frames and a rather eye sore-like door that stood out amongst the beauty of the work he'd done. All in all, Bill and his team are kind, diligent, efficient, artistic, thoughtful, thorough, timely and committed. We have a long list for his crew in the years to come.

Everything looks amazing! This project was a couple of years in the making. I got multiple quotes from various "recommended" companies, actually hiring two separate ones (who both backed out) and then finally settling on Rob Davis and Davis Outdoor Services. In hindsight, I wish I had gone with Rob from the start. I had seen the work he did on a driveway on my street and called him. He was not the cheapest quote, but definitely the most thorough in the quoting process. He was the only company that created a diagram of the project on paper so I could envision exactly where the new driveway would be. Being a woman and single mom, it is obvious when companies will try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge on something. Rob was one of the only ones that quoted me everything broken down line by line, then worked with me to take items off the quote (such as grass seed and things I could do myself) to get the pricing to fit my budget. This project needed to be completed for a graduation party at the house. Even during the busiest time for driveways, He made sure to work the schedule and got the driveway done way in advance of the party so I had no worries about everything looking great. I will tell you that I really asked A LOT of questions before they started, during and after. With every question, he took the time answer everything and didn't leave the conversation without making sure I felt very comfortable. The work crew was a father and son that have been doing this for years. When the project started I thought that I might work from home to oversee what they were doing. I quickly learned that was not necessary as I trusted them completely. They treated my property as if it was their own. Rob stopped by multiple times during the process to check on the crew as well as check in with me to make sure I was 100% happy and I was. I was a tough customer and I am very happy with the outcome. So much so that I am thinking of hiring them to do other projects needed.

The crew worked non-stop except for a brief lunch break. And, only then if they could break from the job. The lead hand (wish I could remember his name) came up with great suggestions. Also, there was non-stop communication. For the wing walls, before the demolition, a guy came over with several brick samples. We kind of said "Nah, nope. Don't think those will work." So he went back to the brickyard and got some more. We made our decision and demo commenced the next day. Please see before and after pics (landscape mode.) We highly recommend this company and will be calling them back next year for the other side of the pool which has flagstones but no cement between. Just moss and a few weeds. If you're looking for the best, these are your guys.

    Silverback Asphalt
Mark and his crew put new asphalt on my driveway and expanded the parking area. While making the foundation for the expanded parking area they ran into problems due to excessive tree roots. Instead of just paving over the roots he called me up and said that it would be better for the tree and the driveway if they just made the new area compacted gravel. Even though it cost him more in time he did the right thing and put in the correct solution instead of just covering it up and making it look nice. He delivered on time and on budget. He and his crew were friendly and professional and did a great job of cleaning and everything look nice. I will defiantly hire Silverback Asphalt again.

    GUARDIAN SEALCOAT & PAVING
This company is both professional and honest. A rare commodity in business today. The owner is on-site making sure that all spec conforms to city ordinances. Mr. Ponto supervised the entire removal of my driveway. To my surprise, Mr. Ponto was hands-on in the removal and replacement of my driveway. Kudos to Guardian Sealcoat and its owner.

Joe was fantastic!! Very nice guy, very professional. Showed up on time, did a tune-up for us and also replaced our opener with a much quieter, belt driven one, and it's controllable with an app, very cool!! High quality work, thanks again Joe!!!

I called at 9:30 am and Justin arrived at 11:15 am. He called first and said he was about 5 minutes away. He told me what the job would cost and I had him go to work. He replaced the gear drive inside the unit in less than 30 minutes. He was very professional.

    First Impressions Concrete LLC
I hired First Impressions Concrete to create a new decorative concrete patio in the backyard, a really big one. Plus I widened the walkway to the front door and had decorative concrete there too, in a cobblestone design. On top of that I had the entire driveway done, I have a side garage, so its a pretty big slab of concrete. First, let me say the the quality was first notch and the workmanship clearly shows, just look at the attached photos. They did everything textbook, with the proper leveling, compacting, reinforcement, and then a nice thick layer of concrete. So I have no doubt it will last a long time without cracks. But, just as important as the quality work, was the complete lack of frustration dealing with the company or Gary. From day one everything was spelled out clearly, no empty promises, no excuses, no time lines they knew they couldn't meet, and no having to chase them around to make sure they did a good job. They cleaned up everything after everyday of work, no coming home and having to clean up all the liter, water bottles, work debris. They took pride in their work, and respected my time and how hard I have to work to create a nice home. Gary, the owner, was on the job every single day and pretty much every hour. Not only making sure the work was done correctly, but actually doing the work correctly himself. As most home owners, and especially homeowners that do a lot of their own work, dealing with a company without the BS, the delays with ridiculous excuses, and the cornering cutting is alone worth the price of admission. Not to mention the mess they usually leave, it restored a little faith in humanity and I got some sweet looking concrete work. P.S. - Some sharp eyed readers may notice that the work was done in August time frame and I'm writing this in October, well I wanted to wait to make sure that I wasn't fooled again. But, I'm relieved to say that First Impression's work seems legit.

    Simon Paving
On Aug. 16 she (Marie George) aka Simon Paving gave an estimate of $300.00. About Aug. 20 I called her to hire her, and I asked if she would honor the 10% coupon in the Angie's book and she said yes. On Aug 23 she arrived (late) to begin. I asked to who I should write the check for $270.00 to she responded with "Oh no $290.00, I cannot do it for less than $290.00". I reluctantly agreed. They did not edge the drive. The early work with trowel and brush seemed to be well done. Then they began spraying the tar, with some over-spray on the grass. Then the spray equipment quit. They then resumed with the brush to finish. Later I discovered that they had shoved large amounts of the tar off to the side of the drive, in some places 10 inches wide and probably at least and inch thick. What a mess. On Aug. 27 I called her to complain and she said she would come and look at it. Nothing. Called again Sept. 3 and she promised Sept 7 but when I called that morning she cancelled, but promised the clean-up on Sunday Sept 9. I was unaware of her clean-up until later Sunday morning when I noticed it. I completed the clean-up job with additional work. I also told her I was unhappy with the surface of the sprayed area. The small cracks are not sealed like the areas where the brush was used. She said she would bring he equipment to fix. I spoke to her again today (Sept 14) regarding the poor sealing in the area that was sprayed. She said she would do no more that it was sealed. I disagree. The cracks look the same as they did before except they are colored black. Never again with Simon Paving.
