    WaterBGone Basement Waterproofing
After a large number of widely different quotes ranging in technology and price by tens of thousands of dollars, I had hired a structural engineer, Rick Hamman from Sheppard Engineering, to produce specs to address lateral movement in the walls of my basement that had resulted in cracks (no water) in my poured concrete foundation. Joe won my bid, and he performed all the work to spec, pulled appropriate city permits, was responsive to many phone calls, had a great crew, and worked within my needs as I prepared to list my house for sale. Joe is probably the most honest and fair contractor I've ever worked with. He wanted the job to be done exactly to the detailed engineering report, so he hired my engineer out of his own pocket to come in and walk him through the report leading up to the work; Rick was excellent but not cheap (worth every penny). Every job always has issues, and Joe was up front and fair in dealing with them, which is how I really judge a contractor/service. I can't recommend Joe's WaterBGone enough, I've already recommended him to friends and perhaps the highest praise, my realtor has referred him to clients and colleagues.

Got a quote from Scott Ballard. I also received competing quotes from other service providers. Home Spec was the highest bid (although all of the bids were close in price). I chose to go with HomeSpec based upon reviews from Angie's List and other online resources. My home is small so the job only took two days to complete. The crew that did the job was lead by Ryan Loop and his crew did an excellent job! They filled three cracks in the foundation walls, and installed a new perimeter drainage system using PVC drain pipe and a sump pump. Prior to the install I had some questions that were answered to my satisfaction by Scott. While the work was being done Ryan answered some more questions I had about the sump pump system as I have never lived in a home that has had a sump pump. I am very pleased with the finished work. When Ryan's crew put in new cement in the basement where the floor had been removed, they did an excellent job in finishing the cement to a level and smooth surface.

The installation went very well, I am happy with the quality and design of the install. I had received quotes from a few other companies to install straps or I-beams, but Russ took the time to explain exactly what was needed. He wanted to install more straps than the competitor, but ironically it was at a better price. After researching carbon fiber strap installations, I found that his design would work the best (competitor wanted to use far fewer straps, but it would've resulted in 5-6' spacing, and 4' is recommended max). Precision was also very good about moving junk out of the way, since both walls had shelves that needed to be removed, etc. One thing I will say about Precision... I think they are very knowledgeable and good at what they do, but they don't have the a large operation like some of their competitors. That means, they don't have the additional staff manning the phones, scheduling, etc. So the company can keep their overhead low and offer very good prices, but on the other hand it can be difficult to reach them sometimes. Overall, I'm very happy with the installation, and will likely hire Precision Foundation Systems to do a bigger job very soon (helical pier install).

I contacted them and they responded very quickly. Costs were within reason based on other vendor quotes. We ultimately chose to contact a structural engineer who believed the house settling had stopped and foundation leveling was no longer needed.

David Knapp came and provided an estimate of $1900. to solve the problem. His solution was to dig up a 12 foot length of the foundation next to the wall in this room. His 2 man crew arrived and worked for approximately 3 hours. They performed the dig and inserted a length of tubing in the floor, replaced the concrete floor with cement. CREW VISIT #1: While here they did not wear booties over their work boots and tracked up and down cream colored carpeted stairs. No drop cloths were used to cover the office furniture and computer equipment in the room, I am still cleaning the white dust from my home. They decided to haul the cement blocks that were removed form the floor out through the window bending the frame of our 5 month old new windows. The brand new custom blind installed at his window is bent beyond repair and must be replaced. The window vendor now has to come to replace the window frame so we can maintain our warranty. A 45" x 36" picture frame was broken and needs to be replaced. The contract stated that they would remove all debris. A pile of concrete and old floor tile was left on a tarp on the side of my house. We were told it would be removed the next day. They never came back to get it. At the next rainy day water was still seeping into the house same location. Clearly this was not the solution. David Knapp sent his crew back out. CREW VISIT #2: This time Jay Woods cut a 8 foot length of dry wall and studs to see the core problem which was holes in the foundation wall. He filled the holes and left the mess of an open wall and missing studs. On this 2nd visit the workman Jay Woods broke yet another trinket in the room, he attempted to glue it back together and laid it on my glass desktop, I had to scrape the glue from the desk surface. All the damage done by Jay Woods was never reported to me or my husband, I had to discover this after they left. I was so angry and upset by this carelessness and unprofessional behavior I called David to come and see the damage his crew left at our home. When David came he told that sometime the men smoke funny stuff it cant be helped and that I should have watched them. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I recommend that no one ever use these guys they are unprofessional and have no idea what they are doing. I paid them $1000. to get rid of them but am still reeling from this awful experience. We still need a drywall repair, window frame replaced and debris removed from the lawn. RUN! RUN! RUN!

I noticed a huge crack in the basement foundation wall right next to a load bearing beam. After a few extremely high estimates from contractors wanting to do what I felt was very unnecessary work (I'm an experienced structural engineer), I finally got a hold of Brian with HomeSpec Advanced Basement. Brian used a very structurally and cost efficient technique to repair the foundation. He was very personable and willing to explain the process. The actual repair only took a few hours and Brian was available to do it in just a few days after speaking with him. I'm very happy with the repair and will be recommending this both in practice and to friends.

Brian came out to assess our issues of flooding from several locations. He gave us an honest assessment of what we could do to solve all our problems forever and then gave us another estimate for what we could afford to do and still solve our current issues. He was incredibly kind and helpful. We had our sump pump replaced and had rod holes and a foundation crack filled. The installation guys had a few issues getting the emergency backup system to stop beeping during setup. They fixed it, but we later had a power interruption which caused the backup system to start beeping and we couldn't get it to stop by following the instructions. Coincidentally, Brian called the next day to check on our installation and he was able to get the guys back out to solve the problem for us right away. They were great and I highly recommend them. They really worked with us to make the repairs possible within our budget.

I don't recall the gentleman's name who came out but he was very nice.  I received a call back either the same day or the next after purchasing the deal.  I was impressed with the response time.  We scheduled a date for the inspection a day or 2 later.  He arrived on time and inspected my foundation and quoted me what I believe to be a fair price based on asking around.  He also gave me tips on things I can do in the mean time (the purpose was to determine if there were areas where mice could get in).  He didn't try to "sell" me or make me think things were urgent.  He let me know those things that would need attention in the future.  When I am ready for the work to be done I will very likely go with this company.

There were two days scheduled for the outside work and one day for the lifing of the interior floor and each had a different crew. The exterior work crew arrived right on time. The first day was the digging of the trench around the the house foundation on the corner that was sinking. I was not happy when the crew demolished 3 foot round pavers, instead of putting them to the side for me to reuse. By the same token they were careful to take out my three large hydrangias and they replanted them succesfully when they were done. While digging the trench where the peirs need to go in they broke the main water line and my back yard was a mushy mess. At least they pumped the water away from the house as to not cause any more damage or leaking into my basement. The piers were installed and the dirt was back filled. The area on my patio where the concrete was repored was not done well. Its already chipping and crumbling. The very heavy excavator that was on my patio during the dirt removal around my house for the trench left the concrete uneven and a tripping hazard. When they tried to fix it by slab jacking it mad a minor difference but its still unsitly with the cracking and chunks of concrete that are coming off. The last straw was when the team leader left me a customer satisfaction survey and made it very clear that a good rating would get them a bonus. I didnt need to know that. The interior work was much more satisfactory. They only took half of the time alloted and were very willing to explain the details to me.I was very happy that the interior floor was returned to its original hight and the cracks were closed as well as the gap from the floor to the baseboard trim.

The job was completed in one day with the paneling put back in place without any damage to the paneling.  I would not have believed that they could take off the paneling and put in back in place and no one could tell if had ever been removed.  Great job.  The basement is now dry.  All holes patched.  Should have done this a long time ago, but worried about removing the paneling.  Got bids and reviews from 4 different companies.  This company was the only one that could come within a couple of days with their own people to remove the paneling.  All other companies wanted me to find someone to remove the paneling or asked me to call someone they recommended and make my own arrangements.  This company had one stop shopping which sold the deal and seemed to me the most honest.  My son has also used this company for basement inspections for homes he was attempting to purchase.  He also was very satisfied.  The condo association for the condo that I just purchase has also just used this company to repair rod holes also with great satisfaction.  Highly recommend this company based on responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
