    Silverback Asphalt
Mark and his crew put new asphalt on my driveway and expanded the parking area. While making the foundation for the expanded parking area they ran into problems due to excessive tree roots. Instead of just paving over the roots he called me up and said that it would be better for the tree and the driveway if they just made the new area compacted gravel. Even though it cost him more in time he did the right thing and put in the correct solution instead of just covering it up and making it look nice. He delivered on time and on budget. He and his crew were friendly and professional and did a great job of cleaning and everything look nice. I will defiantly hire Silverback Asphalt again.

This company is both professional and honest. A rare commodity in business today. The owner is on-site making sure that all spec conforms to city ordinances. Mr. Ponto supervised the entire removal of my driveway. To my surprise, Mr. Ponto was hands-on in the removal and replacement of my driveway. Kudos to Guardian Sealcoat and its owner.

    Simon Paving
On Aug. 16 she (Marie George) aka Simon Paving gave an estimate of $300.00. About Aug. 20 I called her to hire her, and I asked if she would honor the 10% coupon in the Angie's book and she said yes. On Aug 23 she arrived (late) to begin. I asked to who I should write the check for $270.00 to she responded with "Oh no $290.00, I cannot do it for less than $290.00". I reluctantly agreed. They did not edge the drive. The early work with trowel and brush seemed to be well done. Then they began spraying the tar, with some over-spray on the grass. Then the spray equipment quit. They then resumed with the brush to finish. Later I discovered that they had shoved large amounts of the tar off to the side of the drive, in some places 10 inches wide and probably at least and inch thick. What a mess. On Aug. 27 I called her to complain and she said she would come and look at it. Nothing. Called again Sept. 3 and she promised Sept 7 but when I called that morning she cancelled, but promised the clean-up on Sunday Sept 9. I was unaware of her clean-up until later Sunday morning when I noticed it. I completed the clean-up job with additional work. I also told her I was unhappy with the surface of the sprayed area. The small cracks are not sealed like the areas where the brush was used. She said she would bring he equipment to fix. I spoke to her again today (Sept 14) regarding the poor sealing in the area that was sprayed. She said she would do no more that it was sealed. I disagree. The cracks look the same as they did before except they are colored black. Never again with Simon Paving.

    Simon Paving
I initially called on Tuesday and left a message with someone, followed up on Wednesday with another message, and again on Thursday, each time being told Bob would get back to me. Finally on Friday, he called to say he'd have an estimate to me by the end of the day. On Saturday, having gotten no estimate, I texted him and he got right back to me apologizing, saying "...I will go to the office tomorrow to get them sent." Never got anything from him or anyone at the company, even though I texted again asking for it. I felt like Charlie Brown after Lucy pulled the football away again. Not only is this inexcusably unprofessional to simply stop responding, but he wasted a week of my time. They might actually do good work, but I'll never know. Do not waste your time.

    Metro Sealcoating
Metro was the only one of 4 companies I contacted for a quote to come out. Their price was similar to what I had paid in the past and their reviews were top notch so I booked with them. They notified me a day in advance of the work, I could not be home but I was able to leave a check. I came home to a beautiful black driveway. I had number of large oil stains and some previous repairs to the drive. The old stains looked 100% better, still some visible but not nearly to the extent that they were before. The crack filling was nice also. Would repeat, I'm a happy customer!

It was great. Adam came out a few months ago, said it was a small job (which it was), gave us an estimate and said when he had some time, he would call and we would set something up. He called as promised, came out, did the work and left me a bill to send him a check. He doesn't know us, but he trusted us. He followed through which a lot of companies do not do.

Don Burke is a personable man.  He came  out and gave us a good price because he said he was in the neighborhood and since his equipment was on our street, he could it in 3 or 4 days.  I will say that it rained a lot and I understand that you cannot put down a new asphalt driveway when it is wet.  However, it took 6-7 weeks for a new driveway to be done.  We kept calling him in that period of time and he kept saying he will be out, no problem, it will done tomorrow.  Unfortunately, that was not the case.  We finally started using our garage because we did not want to park on the street for 6-7 weeks.  He finally came out and did it.  There was a part of the driveway that was not finished properly and my husband called him and we got the same story, I will be out tomorrow.  There has not been any rain and he has not come out.  In looking at the driveway, it has grooves and stones are showing through the top of the  asphalt.  For digging up the entire driveway (we have a circular and straight drive), it looks like the driveway was just seal coated; it does not look like he dug everything up and

PS-After this company talked to us they said they would come out and fix the problems. They also reimbursed us for the work on the sprinklers that they broke.

    Entire experience was positive.
Pricing seemed very fair (I did obtain multiple quotes).
Coordinating the estimate and when the work would be done was painless and very efficient.  Adam came for the estimate, at the scheduled time, and was very responsive as we re-thought the placement and layout of the driveway.
Mark and the entire crew were great when they were on-site.  When the roll in, my first reaction was OMG.  Multiple trucks and a bunch of guys.  I seemed like this was going to be a very disruptive process.  It was anything but.  They were in and out very quickly, and did a great job cleaning up the site before they departed.  Other than the new driveway, there was virtually no evidence that they had been on-site.
Also, they were very helpful in laying down PVC pipe under the driveway at my request (I provided the materials) so I could more easily run electrical or sprinkler lines as needed in the future.
Experience could  not have been more positive.  Highly recommended.

We found Select Sealcoating on Angie's List.  They had fabulous reviews.  Used their website to request a quote.  They came out the next day and left a quote for us.  We left a voicemail with two questions.  They responded quickly & we agreed to a contract.  The job was scheduled within a week.

They arrived 1/2 hour ahead of the time they predicted (outstanding considering they had 4 other jobs ahead of us that day).  We discussed the areas to be hot patched and I requested that they attempt to slope the base of the driveway in a certain way for better drainage, which they did.  They prepared the areas and then waited for the hot patch to arrive.  The driver had to go to another facility to pick up the asphalt as the first location was out (no problem, we all had a little break).  When he came, they got right to work pouring the asphalt, spreading it out, and rolling it flat & smooth.  The driver had to keep moving the truck in order to let traffic by, but they didn't complain and got the job done.  Everyone worked together well to spread the asphalt, tamp the edges neatly, and grade it.  The roller operator made sure all areas were compressed well and smoothed.  We were very happy with the look of it, that they sloped it the way we requested for better drainage, and that they worked quickly and efficiently.

A 1/2 hour later or so, the sealcoating team arrived.  They asked if I had any questions before they started.  They cleared the driveway of any debris, trimmed the grass from the edges, and poured silica sand in the larger cracks, swept that in, then blew away any extra from the surface.  Next was the crack sealer.  One guy poured, the next guy swept it in into the cracks (that was fun, he was not only fast but also pretty athletic in his movement - I don't know how he didn't get dizzy), another guy went around pointing out smaller areas to fill or some larger cracks that needed more due to settling.  This process took very little time for them and was great fun to watch (I remember it taking me two days with jugs of filler and a small squeegee, I'll never do that again!).  The last step was the seal coat.  One or two guys used brushes to apply sealer to all edges.  Another guy ran buckets of sealer to the guy who was squeegeeing the sealer onto the driveway.  Everyone was very quick and careful in the application.  They didn't miss a thing and they didn't overspill any areas either.

The whole process was painless for us.  A pleasant and quick experience with excellent results.  We're very happy and will hire them next time.

    Mr. Sealcoat Inc
We've had this company before, but we weren't as impressed this time around. It was little things like not keeping clean lines on the edge of the driveway so a lot of grass got into the blacktop. We had much clearer edging last time around. Overall, it was fine...again, just not as neat as last time.
