Teachout Builders Inc & Teachout Roofing Inc
The process was involved, no denying that however they did a great job. They worked long and hard and the finished result was worth all the pain and time. They paid close attention to what I needed and wanted. They gave advice when needed and finished all jobs with perfection. They are thorough, they are thoughtful, they are clean, they are skilled, and even better yet when you invite a crew of people into your home they become like family. Thank you Taylor and crew, job well done.

    Odd Fellows Contracting Inc
Quality of work excellent, workers and subs top quality. Only complaint is a little bit of lag time (5 weeks) between signed contract and start of work, with very little communication in between. I would recommend them as a high quality contractor, but as with every contractor, you have to give firm deadlines and stay on top of them or it won't get done.

    Bob Stapleton Construction, LLC
Bob was easy to get ahold of, and the garage roof was fixed two days later.  He came early, jacked the roof back into position, shoveled the snow off of it, pulled the garage walls back into their right place, and then put several (additional) supporting beams in to hold everything together in the proper shape.  The work was done promptly and well.

    LaFollette Custom Homes Ltd
Steve Eyke and his employees at LaFollette Custom Homes have become a part of our own family. We have trusted them with our house, and they have helped us make it a home during the last 17 years we have worked with them.
How we got to LaFollette and first job: We interviewed with several companies when we considered first a new garage and then a two-story addition, and a kitchen remodel. In talking with companies, it became clear that Steve and his coworkers were going to listen to us carefully, respond when questions arose, and understand this was a big deal to us! Our garage was constructed when our youngest was just a baby ?he?s now 16 and this garage looks virtually the same now as it did when first built. It complements our house,  provides us the room necessary and so forth.
Next job- BIG renovation: They did such a great job on this garage that they were then the lead for the two story addition and kitchen. I was frightened of how big and disruptive this process would be, having a new baby, a 4-year-old and working full-time. You know what? I shouldn?t have worried. The guys at LaFollette became a part of OUR family during the near year all this took to finish. They explained each and every step for us, related to us what we needed to do on our end (paint choices, carpet and so on), and we really felt like a team working together to build this new part of our home.
Carpentry is a strength: One of the most wonderful things about LaFollette is their skill in carpentry. We had built what I think has to be the most gorgeous set of bookshelves in the history of the world.  When people walk into the room where this is, they say ?WOW.? The crown molding constructed to help the bookcase ??seam? into the ceiling is spectacular. This is the room most of our
visitors spend time in, because it just feels good. He built a bay window in the same room, and it has been a place of many rainy day reading sessions for everyone.
Kitchen Renovation: Our kitchen was a major deal ? we had never done this before and I had heard horror stories from many about how awful this could be. Never once did I think I wasn?t being fully communicated with on all aspects. We went from a cramped, crazy colored place that was non-functional to a warm, wood-floored and easy to work in kitchen. This is the place our 16-year-old does most of his homework (warmth, comfort and FOOD!).
They know our house: I have always been so pleased with the work of this company. I validate that with the fact that anything to do with our home, I talk with Steve and company first. Pouring a new front sidewalk, getting a new roof, redoing our basement so it doesn?t flood! Several years ago, they rebuilt our side porch to become a three-season room and it?s a fabulous place to entertain. Our kitchen counters were replaced. These wonderful guys helped build a wheelchair ramp for my older son, Tony, who is seriously disabled. We couldn?t help Tony in his life without it.
They came to our rescue: Most recently, this crew came to our rescue after an enormous ice storm in East Lansing that left us without power for over 8 days, and damaged our front porch. When I didn?t think we would be getting back into our wonderful house anytime soon, I called Steve to help locate and install the biggest, baddest whole-house generator known to man. Steve knew how upset I was about this, and he took that to heart. Within a day, he had the generator and within two weeks, it was installed. In less than a week after discovering our frontporch had been pulled away from my house (!) by a falling tree, our front porch was fixed.
We trust Steve Eyke and LaFollette Custom Homes: My bottom line is I trust Steve Eyke and I trust his workers. We worked TOGETHER to make all these changes in our home. We really do consider him a friend, and he?s welcome to the home he?s helped build anytime. I give you my strongest support of this talented group.

    Dollins Construction Inc
Kenny Dollins was quick to respond to my initial request for an estimate. l was provided one within days. He is very down to earth and what I respected and enjoyed, he was not a pushy salesman. Kenny was able to start on my home within days, but probably because of the need I was in with a gaping hole in my dining room and roofing needed as well as catching him towards the start of his busy season.  Kenny always answered his phone, and if he needed to call me back he did so quickly.
Kenny and/or his workers were at my home each day, ready to start by 7:30 a.m. and worked until 4:00 p.m. It was often times hot outside and I rarely saw them take a break.  They all worked extremely hard. (there were even a few times someone even came on the weekend for a short period to finish up a project quickly).
Kenny and his workers were conscientious about covering the floors in my house to minimize the spread of dust.  They cleaned up every night. At the end of the project, Kenny made sure that all newly acquired materials (siding, etc) were stored in my garage where I wanted them.
No detail was missed.  Kenny did not take short cuts and made sure everything was done to my satisfaction.
I completely trusted Kenny and his workers.  They were provided the code to my garage and a key to my home.  I went on vacation during part of the time work was being completed and never had a concern.  They were a wealth of knowledge and very helpful when it came to making decisions about my home.
I feel like the price I was charged for all the work was more than fair.
I never doubted Kenny's integrity.  He is very straight-forward, which I found refreshing.  I am overjoyed with the work he and his crew did!  I am more than happy to refer him to family and friends.

    Carpentry Plus Building Inc
Brad's greatest talent is his creativity. He took an old house with a major design flaw (a useless central hallway) and figured out how to reuse the space more effectively. We had an architect and a "interior designer" look at the house as well and neither came up with options as quickly or as easily (and both were very impressed with Brad's idea!). Brad was responsive to our questions throughout the process and we love the way the kitchen and bathroom look now. We hired him again this past fall to fix our roof when it started to leak, fixing several rotting boards underneath that a previous roofer had just covered over. Brad's work is very high quality and his prices are on par with other builders that we have asked.
