    Helms Family Optical
We went because of all the positive reviews, and they were proven 100% right. This place is excellent and every single person we interacted with was highly competent and very friendly. Just a heads up: their selection of frames is awesome (hella trendy) and very high-quality, but they do run expensive; they also charge top dollar for contacts. But, they were very helpful about making sure we got glasses with a great warranty for the kiddo, and extremely patient/thorough about helping him the contacts. We will definitely be back.

I was impressed with the large selection of frames and the prices were very good also. He was able to get his sun glasses the same day and his regular glasses came in four days later. I definitely would use this provider again.

    Dr. Douglas Doyle
I had an initial appointment where Dr. Doyle checked my eyes, then explained the procedure involved, costs, options, and gave me time to ask any questions I had.  I opted to go with the Toric lens, which corrects astigmatism better than the standard lens.  I had the surgery on my right eye on Dec. 29, 2015.  The next morning I saw him at 8 a.m. to get the patch off and an initial checkup.  A week later I had another visit to check the eye.  On Jan. 14, about two weeks after the first eye, I had my second eye done, with a followup checkup the next morning, and then again the following week.  My left eye is now 20/20, and my right eye, because of more severe astigmatism, is 20/30.  I need glasses for reading, but they are no longer needed for regular vision. In every visit, I was seen within about 5 minutes of my appointment time.  All the staff - receptionists, nurses, and Dr. Doyle were extremely pleasant as well as professional.  A few years ago I had to take my mother, now deceased, to a different, but very large ophthalmology office in Grand Rapids for her macular degeneration.  Always, at that other practice, it was common to wait up to an hour before even being seen.  Dr. Doyle is a very pleasant improvement on this. While I went to the Rockford office, he also has an office near Metro Hospital, at 2221 Health Dr., Suite 1100, Wyoming, 49519.

A thorough eye exam was done.  The office has up to date equipment to check on eye conditions besides providing a prescription for eyeglasses.  Very pleased.  Eyeglasses can be purchased there as well if you so choose.  Can't comment on that part since eyeglasses were purchased elsewhere.  Everyone in the office was very friendly and welcoming.

    Grand Rapids Opthamology
Excellent experience all around. Very little waiting even with having my eyes dilated. After years of being in ill-fitting contacts (and having a different doctor/practice shrug off my concerns), I'm finally in a lens that I can wear all day with zero discomfort. I also appreciated that they were able to provide a couple of trial pairs to last me until my order came in.

    Rx Optical
First thoughts - office is old, not dirty, just very plain. Found out that they were combining offices in the near future. Staff was friendly and efficient, but nothing special. Since then, I lost a pair of prescription sunglasses. Long story, but was told that I did not have insurance to cover this. They said they could provide a discount but the final price was still around $400. I mentioned that I hardly ever used them and when I did, distant images were blurry. I left the office without ordering. About 1week later they called and said my sunglasses were ready for pickup. They were providing the replacement sunglasses at no-cost and they had lowered the prescription to get rid of the distant bluriness. Replacements are better than the originals.

Luckily it was not anything too bad and the Dr. said if the flashes doesn't stop to immediately call their 24/7 emergency number. I could not have asked for better service. They are the only Ophthalmoligists we will use. My husband sees Dr. Gindzin for his eyes as he is a diabetic and Dr. Gindzin is tops.

    Grand Rapids Ophthalmology
Dr. checked my cataracts and then the optometrist measured my eyes for glasses and contacts. I had to have the contacts tweaked 3 different strengths before giving me the eye sight needed. This was time consuming but they did it without a problem. Love my glasses - have received many complements on the attractiveness of frames. They do cost a bit more than the bargain eye stores, but well worth it to know my eyes are in good hands. Glasses were approx $600 for bifocals and $150 for contacts.Well worth the money. My spouse has diabetes and they have the very best (Dr Gindzin) for handling eye problems for diabetics. Can't say enough good things about him.
