Home Instead Senior Care - East Lansing
I called home instead at ten in the morning. Within an hour of my call, they had driven out to meet with us in the hospital before his discharge time. After we hired them, they immediately went back to their office to get the caregiver schedule worked out for us. They had a full round the clock schedule set up for us within a few hours. It was difficult to predict what his needs would be but home instead employees were flexible and caring. The price was a bit steep overall but when you consider all of the stress they take off if the family, and the round the clock care your loved one receives, it is well worth it. They helped our friend with everything from meals to just simple companionship. The office was very sweet and flexible. Caring for an elderly person can be very stressful and this company seems to really tasks their job seriously and personally, providing A plus care!

    LaFollette Custom Homes Ltd
Steve Eyke and his employees at LaFollette Custom Homes have become a part of our own family. We have trusted them with our house, and they have helped us make it a home during the last 17 years we have worked with them. How we got to LaFollette and first job: We interviewed with several companies when we considered first a new garage and then a two-story addition, and a kitchen remodel. In talking with companies, it became clear that Steve and his coworkers were going to listen to us carefully, respond when questions arose, and understand this was a big deal to us! Our garage was constructed when our youngest was just a baby –he’s now 16 and this garage looks virtually the same now as it did when first built. It complements our house,  provides us the room necessary and so forth. Next job- BIG renovation: They did such a great job on this garage that they were then the lead for the two story addition and kitchen. I was frightened of how big and disruptive this process would be, having a new baby, a 4-year-old and working full-time. You know what? I shouldn’t have worried. The guys at LaFollette became a part of OUR family during the near year all this took to finish. They explained each and every step for us, related to us what we needed to do on our end (paint choices, carpet and so on), and we really felt like a team working together to build this new part of our home. Carpentry is a strength: One of the most wonderful things about LaFollette is their skill in carpentry. We had built what I think has to be the most gorgeous set of bookshelves in the history of the world.  When people walk into the room where this is, they say “WOW.” The crown molding constructed to help the bookcase “‘seam” into the ceiling is spectacular. This is the room most of ourvisitors spend time in, because it just feels good. He built a bay window in the same room, and it has been a place of many rainy day reading sessions for everyone.  Kitchen Renovation: Our kitchen was a major deal – we had never done this before and I had heard horror stories from many about how awful this could be. Never once did I think I wasn’t being fully communicated with on all aspects. We went from a cramped, crazy colored place that was non-functional to a warm, wood-floored and easy to work in kitchen. This is the place our 16-year-old does most of his homework (warmth, comfort and FOOD!). They know our house: I have always been so pleased with the work of this company. I validate that with the fact that anything to do with our home, I talk with Steve and company first. Pouring a new front sidewalk, getting a new roof, redoing our basement so it doesn’t flood! Several years ago, they rebuilt our side porch to become a three-season room and it’s a fabulous place to entertain. Our kitchen counters were replaced. These wonderful guys helped build a wheelchair ramp for my older son, Tony, who is seriously disabled. We couldn’t help Tony in his life without it.  They came to our rescue: Most recently, this crew came to our rescue after an enormous ice storm in East Lansing that left us without power for over 8 days, and damaged our front porch. When I didn’t think we would be getting back into our wonderful house anytime soon, I called Steve to help locate and install the biggest, baddest whole-house generator known to man. Steve knew how upset I was about this, and he took that to heart. Within a day, he had the generator and within two weeks, it was installed. In less than a week after discovering our frontporch had been pulled away from my house (!) by a falling tree, our front porch was fixed. We trust Steve Eyke and LaFollette Custom Homes: My bottom line is I trust Steve Eyke and I trust his workers. We worked TOGETHER to make all these changes in our home. We really do consider him a friend, and he’s welcome to the home he’s helped build anytime. I give you my strongest support of this talented group.

Hospice Of Lansing Inc - Lansing
Hospice of Lansing - Stonleigh Residence did an amazing job during this difficult transition. Not only did they do a great job with my mother, they also did a wonderful job with our family. We were welcomed in at all hours of the day and night. My mothers pain management was attended to and they always took time to explain what was going on and to make sure our family understood. after my mother passed, they encouraged us to stay as long as we needed.

Hospice Of Lansing Inc - Lansing
Hospice Of Lansing Inc - Lansing have been awesome. They nurse will come out at night time, if we need her. They came by three times a week. They also used a house care specialist who does light cleaning and errands for us. They'll drive him wherever he needs to go and they do laundry and that kind of stuff. They've been really responsive to any issues that come up. They set us up with those life alert buttons and they work great.

    Great Lakes Hospice
We referred by our hospital. I was not entirely satisfied with the service; I found it uneven. The first nurse that was assigned to my mother's case did not order the supplies that she was supposed to for the medications. She did not keep her appointments as she was supposed to and I had to have her replaced. The second nurse that was assigned was fine. The first nurse administered morphine when she was not authorized to do so. The aide that was sent did what she had to do but did not do anything extra; she washed my mother and changed her bed linens and that was about it. I had somebody else come in whom I was familiar with and was not associated with that company at all and she did so many other things for my mother and looked for things to do for my mother; this other company did not do that. Finally, Great Lakes Hospice did not fill out the paperwork for the police department and I think there was a general breakdown in communications between this company and me. One nurse was very nice and helpful but the doctor that was assigned to her never showed up. There are a number of areas in which this company could improve. I would not recommend them.

    Cypress Home Care, Inc.
Not impressed by level of professionalism of company or their representatives. Met with and spent considerable time discussing needs with care coordinator whom was never heard from again.

    TLC Senior Care
My last visit was more than concerning. The caregiver was not professional in her dress wearing dirty dark sweatpants and a wrinkled cartoon character tee shirt. She had the appearance of just getting out of bed at 2 pm when I arrived. She was rude and yelled at Dad. She kept his walker 15 feet away from his chair in the hall to 'keep him from giving her trouble' as she put it. A discussion with the owner/her supervisor was not productive and left me with even greater concerns. I found their online listings and their website references showed that Christopher Strehl was a director with credentials that were glowing. The problem is that Mr.Strehl is not with the company for more than a year having passed away in 2013. I have concerns not only for the lack of compassion for my father that I witnessed but for other aspects of this company's business philosophy and practices.
