Masonry reviews in Commerce Township

  • Outstanding! The workers showed up early and worked a full day!!! No long cigarette breaks, no long lunch breaks. Most of all, they were meticulous in finishing the work and took great care. They also fixed a few things they saw without charging us. We called many chimney contractors, some didn't call back, some didn't show up for the bid and BB's bricks were by far the most reliable, reasonable and best of all finished the job well--not very common for contractors!

  • Awesome.  Keith and Greg are masonry artists.  They were clean, professional, and their work is awesome.  They obviously take pride in making you happy and doing a great job.  Hire them, you won't be disappointed.

  • The wall is beautiful!  Matt was the "sales" guy and was responsive in providing the quote and answering any emails I had.   I met the masons one day after work.  Matt and the masons were professional and very nice.  I appreciated the quick response to changes I wanted once the project had begun.  It was done quickly once it began (I think about 3 business days).  They were able to very closely match the old brick with new.

  • I was referred to this fairly new company Midwest masonry services by a neighbor who raved about the deal they got and the quality of work they received on a new porch and chimney rebuild. I had high expectations from the start and was not disappointed. They exceeded in every way, Mike and Sean were very professional and knowledgeable about their craft and proved it with the quality of work. I was pleased with the honest estimate I received (I had previously requested an estimate from a company that tried to up-sell me on more than what I needed). Overall I give these guys an A+ and wish them the best in their future endeavors, will definitely hire again in the future!! highly recommended

  • I will start this review by stating the Kearns Brothers did a great job removing and installing new siding on my home. Additionally, they installed new gutters and repaired the chimney on my home. The house looks completely different and wonderful! The crew did a great job and was extremely neat in their cleanup of materials.

I've hesitated to write a review because, as a very positive person, it takes a lot of frustration for me to express any negativity. The only problems I had with Kearns Bros was basically with scheduling and communication. The prices were right in the ballpark with other estimates I acquired. I selected Kearns Bros because of their stellar reputation for the quality of their work and the fact that they don't subcontract the job. After receiving the initial quote, I didn't receive any communication from the company for over 6 weeks. I had to contact them and was told..."due to the weather conditions" scheduling would be delayed. Originally , the contract was signed approximately the middle of September, to avoid the colder weather that would be approaching. The chimney repairs had to be postponed many times and finally wasn't completed until the spring! I was asked to pay for the entire job ...before completion..."so the guys could get paid for Christmas"..this is something I've learned...never to do...and probably won't ever do again! I cannot even say as to how many times I had to call Kearns Bros...just to inquire when this job would be started...and completed. The lack of communication caused undo stress and was unnecessary. Rudy is a extremely personable salesperson and very knowledgeable about the products. It just got to the ridiculous point with the different excuses until I just wanted to throw my hands up and say..."Just do the job already"!

Last winter in Michigan was extremely long and tough on our houses...yards...and us! The cedar shake siding on the peak of the garage moved down and needed to repaired. Once again, I contacted the office..to do the repair and I needed some masonary work done. Rudy came out...took photo's and wrote the estimate for the masonry work.  Six weeks went by and I didn't hear from them. I contacted the office and was informed that I needed to send photo's and a description of the work...here we go again! Finally, I contacted Rudy he said he would check the schedule and get back to me...no call back..again. So...I contacted him...and he said it would be at least 3 weeks before they would get to it! The weather...again...and even though the repair is a small 20 minute job ...it means a half day for his crew! I replied...and that is my problem in what way? After what I paid for this job.....come on. He agreed and the next day, a guy showed up and repaired the siding. Whew! I am still waiting to hear about the masonry job...My opinion is this: If you can't service the jobs you contract in a REASONABLE time frame ...why continue to take in more than you can handle? I really have no complaints about the quality of the work...it's great! I felt I was extremely understanding with the many reasons the job couldn't start...or be completed...or repaired...the only major complaint is with SERVICE . I have received many compliments on how nice the house now looks but, I hesitate to recommend Kearns only because of the high frustration level trying to get the project done.  It shouldn't have been this hard to have this project completed and I've never experienced this treatment from other contractors.

  • The overall experience with Best Chimney was very positive.
From the very beginning we were treated well. Charles provided the estimate, arriving on-time and giving a complete explanation of each point of both chimneys, including what was good and bad about each (in the future I'm skipping the pre-purchase home inspector altogether and just getting review
As for the job, it went well - I think. I have no other experience with fireplaces and chimneys and don't know if I could spot a bad job or not, so all I can go on is their word. That said, I still think it went well.
The workers (who, I should mention, were actually subcontractors and not direct employees, though that didn't appear to make a difference in the expected quality) began work as soon as they arrived, which was on-time. They periodically gave us an progress assessment, worked efficiently and safely, and, once they were finished, gave us an explanation of what was done, ensuring that what was done matched what we were quoted for. They were even very patient with our 7-year old.
Again, it was an altogether postiive experience.

  • I could see the flues at the top of my chimney were deteriorating badly, so I called BrickConcepts to perform the work.  Their quote was competitive and detailed.  Anthony was professional and courteous.  The work was completed within the week, and looks very good.  I am a satisfied customer.

  • It was at the end of the construction season so they had a waiting list of work to accomplish. The company rep was very up front with the situation before I committed. They did the work in three days and cleaned up after themselves. It should be noted that they realized after they started that the retaining wall needed to be more robust to ensure the car would not slip off the edge. They did the work the right way. The drive works well and drains correctly. The quality of workmanship is very evident as we are into our second winter with the drive. No cracking and the reinforced retaining wall they added I am sure prevented my son's car from going over the edge many times. They presented a list of material that they used that exceeded the original. I ended up giving the another four hundred then the original quote. I was not pressured to do so. I took four bids. These guys were the second lowest. I found them honest and would recommend them for any concrete work you may need.

  • They were friendly, professional and were very careful doing their work. You could see they take a lot of pride in their workmanship. They were always punctual, neat and went out of their way to accommodate the changes we wanted to make during the process. I am extremely busy and I really need a contract I could trust. Joseph Capaldi watched out for my interests every step of the way. I could always call him and talk to him anytime I wanted to get up dates. He even sent me pictures. He worked very well with my wife and helped her design and pick out everything she wanted. A happy wife, means a happy life! I owe Joseph Capaldi a debt of gratitude for making this home renovation a wonderful experience. I would recommend them to anyone!

  • They were professional and did great work. We are so happy. They were courteous, punctual and cleaned up everyday. They did more than we bargained at a very reasonable price. They completed the job on time and within our budget. Joseph Capaldi's background in finance helped us to make our decisions and to prioritize our projects. His construction background as an architect and luxury home builder helped us do the things we needed to do first. When they left our home it looked new and very clean. We would definitely use Capaldi in the future.
